Rocky start, but ended up fine.”
We're from west of Brisbane, and we flew to Japan from Sydney. We booked to stay here on 2 separate occasions - the night before we flew to Japan, and the night before returning to Brisbane after landing in Sydney. On the night we were due to fly to Sydney, all flights south of Brisbane were cancelled due to bad weather, and we couldn't make our booking which I had already paid for in advance. After back and forth with Agoda communicating with Ibis on my behalf, Ibis still decided to treat me as a no show, despite me calling the hotel immediately and explaining what happened, and want to charge me 100% of the booking as a cancellation fee for being a "no show". Even though I had already paid for the room, so they weren't losing any money by us not being able to make it. I contacted the hotel while I was overseas, and did not receive a response. Due to this experience, I was considering cancelling our night here when we returned to Australia and cutting my losses with the money I paid for the room and book somewhere else with better customer service. However, I am glad I didn't. The two ladies at the front counter were amazing to deal with, and were really helpful. Our room was large and comfortable, and the bathroom is clean and modern. The hotel is great. But, despite the good experience we had when we stayed here after landing in Sydney, I'm never booking with this hotel again purely because of the cancellation fee, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone else.

06/04/2024 Check in was seamless, reception staff were friendly & efficient & room was large, clean & had good facilities. My concern is the brand standards are dropping & loyalty is useless, unless booked directly. Still, some benefits are advertised but denied. While the room was clean, I was dismayed at the condition of the carpeted walkways- stained, filthy & threadbare & everything has a price attached (scales/washing machine)-although great to at least have the laundry facility. Apparently, now a budget brand-although that was never my impression & not my experience in Europe- regardless, cleanliness & maintenance are critical & create lasting(negative?) impressions. Great wifi & facilities-although 1 soap dispenser clearly was not filled during servicing. The other shock was the rooms are not soundproofed-which means guests arriving and departing at odd hours from adjacent rooms are heard very clearly-as were the children running up & down until the early hours. This is an airport hotel & as such peace & quiet are critical for guests comfort. Restaurant was of very average quality & expensive for what was offered. Staff here were...not personable?? I only ate 1 meal here, under sufferance. There are some other options about 10-15 minutes walk around & opposite Mascot station. It is my first experience staying in the immediate vicinity of the airport, although I question the value with its current condition & offerings.. OK if you sleep soundly & just need the bed..
