"It is near the bay where one can wait for the Aurora to appear and dance. The town centre is near and can be explored by walking The only problem that we encountered: We were not in a group and we arrived famished We went to their restaurant and they told us they were only serving if you were in the group that arranged for meals. Suggestion: Thon Hotel Kirkenes could include meals (lunch, dinner) in the selection, as Asians like us, first timers who arrived in the hotel during wintertime would be clueless as to where to go to eat. And providing meals to hungry customers, I think, is a basic hotel service."

"It's the most interesting hotel in Kirkenes, with reindeers and huskies on its grounds. The gamme cabin was very clean and exquisite. At night, we switched off all the lights and set our cameras on tripod to take photos of the northern lights without the cold outside! The price is on the high side, and there is no public bus access (nearest bus stop is maybe 2km away?). But that's what you pay for the unique stay away from the town. Definitely recommend this hotel for the experience."
