Klong Nin Beach is a 30-minute drive south of the main resorts on Koh Lanta. It boasts the same white-sand beaches and stunning scenery, but the atmosphere is quieter and more laid back than to the north.
Accommodation near Klong Nin Beach includes a few budget hotels that are popular with backpackers, but most of the hotels here are in the mid-range category. The nightlife is simple, with a sprinkling of fresh seafood restaurants and beach bars that start to pick up right before sunset. Some of these are run by onsite hotels, while others are family-owned.
Tourists tend to stay within sight of the ocean, but there’s an entire rainforest worth exploring in the interior. Most of the hotels can help you get set up on treks, elephant rides and kayak excursions. This beach is also an important last stop for scuba divers, who take off on live-aboard boats for distant dive sites in the Andaman Sea.
Portions of the beach are rocky, and most of the hotels in Klong Nin Beach are on the northern stretch where it’s mostly sandy. This is the best part of the beach for swimming, too, and onsite hotels have deck chairs available. Behind the beach is Klong Nin village, with a range of services along with restaurants and shops.
