In a palm jungle on the southern Andaman Sea, Koh Hai Fantasy Resort & Spa is nestled by hills facing the sea and is ideal for rest and relaxation. While there is plenty to keep one busy with a beautiful beach and great fishing, it is also suitable to simply read a book, play games, or finish that novel you have been writing. When you want to explore, visit Mu Ko Phetra Marine National Park which consists of 30 small islands and great snorkeling. The colorful fish and coral are a delight as well for those exploring the underwater wonders. The rooms at Koh Hai Fantasy Resort & Spa are tasteful and quiet, the sunsets beautiful, and before you depart, have a body wrap at the spa to complete a relaxing holiday. If you’re looking for a special and unique experience, look no further than Koh Hai Fantasy Resort & Spa.

Location is fantastic! The resort is ok, you basically get what you pay for. We stayed in rooms and not the huts so there may be a difference. Pool is ok, restaurant is ok. The bar was closed when we came (low season). The pillows are horrendous (30 cm thick and hard as a brick). Because of the location I would recommend this place.
Decent but overpriced”
The beach location is great. Swimming pool was good for our family too. The actual places are starting to get a bit run down and need some upkeep. It seems like the owners try to nickle ans some you for everything. Majority of staff were very friendly and attentive. Seems to be priced a bit high for what you get.
We spent a week here, and to date it was the highlight of our trip. Don’t let the name put you off, it is beautiful, laid back, and extremely well staffed and maintained. The resort is right on the beach and faces a small rocky island called Koh Ma. They have a variety of room types, ranging from a standard hotel style (our choice for our budget), to family villas with sea views and private pools. Breakfast is included and is basic. The restaurant is open all day, there is also a small mini mart for supplies. Of note is the fact that all meals served in the restaurant are subject to an 18% tax that is not included in the listed price. This levy is not charged by the other locations on the island, and as such apart from lunch on our first day we have eaten elsewhere. Would definitely recommend for anyone!
Old hotel, prime location and great beach”
Koh Ngai was amazing and the beach... wow. This hotel is one of the better ones on the island, however its a typical older 2/3 star hotel. Basic room, old style TV and functional bathroom. Its clean so no issues there, but I was expecting more. We stayed a few nights, put up with the room in order to enjoy the amazing beach and then went back to Lanta for some more comfort.
This Fantasy is only a dream”
Pro: perfect location, beach front villas and room are right on the beach, snorkeling is just steps away. Facilities: old and poorly maintained. Maintenance on life support. Air conditioner was at a fixed maximum temperature - the room was hot all day long. Food: Breakfast was adequate, but not resort quality. Provided transportation: we were mini bus transferred 20 minutes to another peer and herded onto the resorts re-supply boat, loaded nearly full with food and supplies for the resort. Had to wait half an hour in the heat before leaving at slow speed for another one hour ride to the “fantasy resort”. Pool: old broken chairs, only two umbrellas, no shade for much of the day. Staff: 2-3 star friendly The location is beautiful, but the resort right Nextdoor was much nicer.
Best beach on the island with chairs and umbrellas, no rocky access as we saw at other hotels. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Despite the walk uphill, the Hillside Superior room was nice and quiet away from the majority of rooms and had a nice view of the ocean. Only a few vegetarian/vegan options (fried rice and fried noodles only). Bring snacks and food if you can.
The best resort on Ngai Island”
This island is very isolated and you are definitely bound to the resort you choose. Originally we choose the cheapest one, the standard room. However the room is very old and rundown. I consider an upgrade for 30 more dollar a night and we got a very nice room with the balcony. It is a very comfortable. The view is gorgeous - both from the balcony and looking out from the beach. Breakfast is great. Love this island and definitely will come back next year.
on the best part of the beach”
Breakfast is fine but the same every day, swimming pool (our baby likes pools) is far from the beach. Resort itself is very big especially for an island like Koh Ngai, they have lots of different room types, some are on the hill and far from the beach. We had cheapest room, but very lucky to have seaview (literally 10 m from water and balcony with really good view). Many units look just to another unit's wall. Room itself is very simple but fine, water in shower wasn't working properly, was either very hot or cold, changing suddenly, impossible to wash baby. I'm not sure I will stay here again, but there's not much to choose from on the island.
Just the best-”
This resort is perfect! You are booking for the best beach in the country. A word to travelers- this is a remote island! Everything has to be brought in! Travel light, and don't expect everything to be 'just like home'. The food and especially the staff are wonderful. Yes, the rooms need some updating, but the salt water, and sea air take a toll on the accommodations. The prices are fair, but again it's the beach and area that is the carbonation for your travel experience! We booked again for next year!
beautiful front beach resort. ”
i find this small resort rather serene with less people. we booked the hill side room with the ocean view from the top is just amazing!. the breakfast spread was quite good considering this is not a 5stars resort. overall stay was really good. we would like to come back again.
Private beach hotel”
I went to this hotel on my birthday. I booked the most expensive room in this hotel which has private swimming pool at seaview beach front. My husband and me really enjoy staying privately and relax. Food in hotel restaurant is also nice.
A Fantasy Island”
Everything as expected from a fantasy island. However, being a family of divers I can't give good comment for their diveshop(Rainbow Divers). Their pricelist from website was misleading as ultimately very expensive. As the boss/owner himself was not in(he was at another island/Koh Mook) we could not say much but only to be shocked. Sad to see marine/national park fees being collected but without much protective/preventive actions from relevant parties.
Take the good room!”
First we had booked a room uphill, by the sight of it we were very dissapointed. Even though we had expected it, it was a military base hut. After walking around the park we asked for an upgrade, seaview bungalow which was perfect. Cost a little bit more but great. Thinkingthey expect people to do that if they stay for a while.
My 3rd time coming to Fantasy Resort.. ”
Very pleasant stay.. have been to Fantasy Resort for 3 times. Will definitely come again. For dinner, i would suggest to walk 300 meters along the beach to Koh Ngai Villa. Koh Ngai Villa serves authentic Thai Food and cheaper price.. very satisfying..
Excellent beach front resort”
Koh Ngai is basically beach. There are 11 resorts scattered along about a 2km stretch. We got there via Air Asia land/sea option and it was very straight forward and well organized. On arrival at Trang airport, a man was waiting with a sign to take us to the pier. At the pier we were dropped at a small shop to wait for the boat transfer. For both the car and the boat we were the only customers. Air Asia advertises the boat goes to Koh Ngai Villa - but the boat stops at any resort you tell them. They also pick up from any resort but you have to let Koh Ngai Villa know in advance where you want to be picked up, The Fantasy Resort was good value for money. They seem to have lots of room options including new private villas with pools right in the front. We got a beach front room which is a small section of 7-8 older rooms off to the far right side neighboring Thanya Resort next door. It was a great view and nice deck chairs which you can move down to the sand. We were not expecting the tidal changes to be so dramatic - high tide you cannot stand up within a couple of meters from the shore so great for swimming. Low tide you can walk out more than 500 meters over coral and rocks so great for walking. Day trips are what everyone does and there are lots of options up and down the beach at the various resorts. We ended up choosing the 10.30am 4 Island option offered by the Fantasy Resort and we are glad we did. It was a small group of just 13 people and a reasonable boat with 3 crew. 2-3 nights was enough at the Fantasy Resort. Next time we will look for an Island with villages and more local culture but for a relaxing beach vacation this was a good choice
Fantastic off season getaway on lonely island”
Went there off season in early October and had the ressort nearly for me alone. There is no official tours (e.g. snorkeling) at this time and also no regular boat transfer to the island. But everything can be arranged easily. The staff are mostly Burmese and very very nice. Great snorkeling on the neighbouring beach in walking distance - no need for snorkeling tour.
nice experience in Fantasy, strongly recommend”
I like my choice of Fantasy Resort. Beachfront suite has the best seavew and only a few steps away from the ocean. The staff is very nice, their office in Trang is very nice and helpful. I'll stay at the same hotel if I go there again and recommend this hotel to my friends.
Great Location ”
The sea and the sand in front of hotel is the best. It is clear and clean. The food is quite good. There are many kinds of food to choose. A lot of foreigners check in this hotel. There are many types of room in various zone. Make sure that you make the reservation for the room that you like. The staffs are polite and help us a lot to explain the place to go and the activities to do. Recommend to drink coffee or tea at bar in front of hotel besides the sand.
Nice hotel on a perfect beach”
We stayed at the cheapest room wich was great Big and had Ac. Refrigerator. Hot water. Nice big bathroom The decoration was Old fashioned but we enjoyed our big room very close to the beach (only few steps from the beach - second row room no.102) Bod get breakfast was great We ate our lunch and dinner at Koh Hai Villa They had good food ,low price The beach in front of Koh Hai Fantasy was beautifully, crystal emerald clean and calm water and a white sand with chairs for free The Wifi is not free
A place to relax”
if you need a few days relaxation do put this place on your list. we chilled for 6 days and it was so good. we had a beach-side suite and it was comfortable, quiet and peaceful- just what we needed. good on site team. restaurant food very good- breakfast can be a little repetitive
