House Reef were Nice.”
Stayed in the fan room which was old but decent. Hotel was affordable w/ small swimming pool but with very little breakfast options. However, the good things were the house reef which you can check that out daily during high tides since they were pretty shallow. Good to stay for couple nights.
It's big resort located near the pier. You could do snorkelling just off shore, resort rents snorkels, kayaks, life vests and beach chair free of charge. Coral is nice but not best. You will be able to spot hornbills and monitor lizard on the venue which is super nice. It's not new place but still in good condition, worth the price. Breakfast is buffet and lunch/dinner was tasty but a bit pricy - but hey, it's not local restaurant but resort on the island where noone lives
Beside the awesome location (its like a private cove/beach all to yourself) the staff really made me want to come back here. They were flexible and when one of our friends couldn't make it anymore they refunded the money even though they didn't have to. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Wonderful hotel ”
Love this great clean hotel. Good food, snorkling and rooms. We got an amazing view from our room, overlooking the ocean. The stuff is lovely and helpful. Only less good is that it is a bit difficult to walk to the other main beach, especially in the evenings. A better track between would be good. I have stayed at the hotel many times and I will come back!
Our group of four visited Koh Ngai Resort for 3 nights after Christmas. Yes, it is an older resort but it is well maintained. It is perfectly located on its own private beach which has good snorkeling. You can walk to the other beach but the path can be challenging - so much easier to pay 50 THB per person to be taken by longtail boat. The free snorkels and the use of a kayak for 2 hours a day is a bonus. It's also a plus to have the proximity of the pier. You are able to just walk to the resort on your arrival. We found the prices to be reasonable considering it's an island. Food was good but tended to be a little bland although when asked to add more spices the staff was very accommodating. We found all the staff was friendly and helpful. A special thank you to Siwaporn who exceeded our expectations in regards to our accommodation! We all were sad to leave the peacefulness and beauty of Koh Ngai.
If you are looking for quiet place to snorkel and relax, look no farther. Food is good.”
If you want nightlife and hustle and bustle an much to do, don’t go to Koh Ngai. Went there 27 years ago and then this past week. Much had changed but a lot was still the same. Restaurant had good Thai and foreign cuisine.
The rooms don't justify the price, only the beautiful island”
I stayed in a 'fan room' which I wouldn't recommend to do in summer season — unless you're used to sleeping at over 28°C. The roof heats up so much during daytime that it's hotter inside than outside at night. Compared to Koh Lanta, you could get a similar room for a third of the price. BUT: you get an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet and also snorkeling gear and Kayaks for free. The staff was friendly and quite attentive. The resort has the only pier on the island, so when you come by speedboat you're directly there. If you'd like to explore the main beach, though, you'd have to wait for low tide.
Great place! By far the best snorkelling that we experienced amongs other organised trips. ”
Piece of heaven. Easily reched from Koh Lanta. Good food and semi alive coral directly in front of the hotel. The room could use some renewal, but who cares we were outside most of the time. Very clean!
Great spot and staff, terrible wifi”
Great spot for swimming, snorkeling kayaking with gear provided by resort. Plus there are hornbills and lizards to be seen on the grounds. It is a15 minute walk through jungle to main beach, which you have to take because long tails don't run with low tide. Or is this to keep you at the resort restaurant? Resort food prices are NOT higher than at other island tourist areas. The included breakfast was adequate. Friendly helpful staff. Grounds and pools are maintained. Older rooms could use some TLC, but are clean. We are planning to stay here again.
We love this place”
We stay here a couple times a year. It isn't fancy and isn't a huge hit with tourists, so it never seems crowded. We like it because it is quiet, cheap and you can snorkel right off the beach. The beach is rocky and full of coral, so not great for swimming. The snorkelling is very good, though.
Would recommend ”
Really nice place. Totally worth the money. Free renting of kayaks and snorkeling equipment. Only minus occurs if you want to go to the main beach in the evening. Then you have to walk along narrow trail without lights for 10 minutes. Would recommend the place :)
What a fantastic resort. Located conveniently at the end of the pier. I stayed 2 nights in room 207, located in the older building. The room itself was a bit old and in need of TLC, and lacked amenities like TV and fridge, but for $40 per night in this amazing resort, I was very satisfied. Nice sized wardrobe to hang clothes, desk, end tables, balcony with table and chairs, with a great sea view. Air con and hot water. Free breakfast was average or slightly below, fried noodles, fried rice, fried eggs, mystery meat, toast, instant coffee, and very little fruit. All other Thai meals ordered from the restaurant though were excellent, so delicious. Great bowl of Gaeng Som (sour soup, not for the meek), super spicy. Prawn curry, excellent. Every meal was a treat. The resort grounds were beautifully landscaped. Did not use the pool, as there were no shade umbrellas. Plenty of shady beach chairs though. Beach was swimmable at high tide, spent hours bobbing around. They offer free snorkel gear and 2 hours free kayaking each day. Although it seems you are a captive on their property, just north of the pier there is a 10 minute jungle trail that leads to the next beach, the main beach for this island. You can walk a few miles down this beach and sample other restaurants if you wish. But the best part of my stay was the staff. So very very friendly, every one of them, reception and restaurant, were full of smiles and truly made me feel welcome. What a great experience.
We were unfortunate with the weather for the time we were on the island with a bad storm coming in but all the staff were great and looked after us well, the island is stunning and the hotel nestles into the beach and jungle perfectly, the beach is great for swimming and the pool is very nice too. Don't understand some of the comments about bad food as we ate some great dishes whilst here.
A wonderful place to relax”
Reading all the comments in Agoda I was a little bit skeptical to go to this place: unfriendly staff, expensive meals? Nothing of all! I was very glad to be there and felt comfortable: very friendly and helpful staff, normal prices for a beach restaurant (you cannot expect 45 Bath for a meal like in the street restauants in the cities, but 150 Bath for a thai meal I find at a place like this in order and comparable with other similar places). I also like the big trees at the beach giving shadow all day. There are other places anough to bet sunburned on an island like this. Really great was the view to the sea with the solid rocks on the island in some distance. Specially beautiful at sunset when the golden sun colours the rocks. The garden is very clean and beautiful. The staff uses many hours a day to take care. So, when you look for a quiet place to relax some days and enjoy the tropical surrounding: go there, you will like it.
Old resort that might have shined 10 years ago. located alone in a bay..”
The food is expensive and cost 10-20% more than on main beach. The internet wifi almost did not excist and if so, only in the lobby. The snorkleling is good though and you have mask and fins from the hotel.
A normal resort in a wonderful island”
The resort is ok, even if it looks old and has a private beach. The best beach of the island is at walking distance, but there is no road, only a small walkway through the side of the forest and in the night it is dark, so better to have some light. The resort accepts credit cards. The room was ok: AC and balcony. Food is good at the restaurant. Breakfast is very basic and since it is quite busy you need to wait in line for a hot piece of bread or for a coffee ... this should be improved. Honestly we spent almost all time on the beach and not at the resort. Personnel was nice even if when the place was crowded it was in difficulties. There were some abandoned buildings covered with some metallic sheets that were bad looking and bad smelling, moreover the building of the staff, which was quite near my room, should be improved because it seems it is going to collapse in any moment. I am saying it because I think the staff deserves a decent place to stay and not a destroyed building.
Island was absolutly nice. In our resort was big swimming pool and nice beach. On the beach were lots of deckchairs and a chairs. Prices in the resort were higher than at bigger island. Every day personally to appoint clean linen and towels.
Everything you need and a good price”
This is a good value option on Koh Ngai. Most ferries and speed boats stop at their pier, they have a pool, pool towels, include snorkel and sea kayak equipment at no additional charge. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. It's a bit around from the main beach.
One of the best locations on the island. Beautiful and private beach!”
THE place to be in Ko Ngai. Not because the rooms (basic but enough), but for the beach and the value for price relation. They give you sonrkel equipment for free. Breakfast quite good.
Remote hotel by the pier”
Not a bad option. A little 10 minutes hike required to get to the other part of the island. Advised to hike before it gets dark.
