More about Mangga Dua

Without clear borders, the area’s giant shopping malls merge together to form the largest wholesale complex in Asia, consisting of: Mangga Dua Mall, Harco Mas Mangga Dua, Mangga Dua WTC, The ITC Mangga dua I, ITC Mangga Dua II, Dusit Mangga Dua and Pasar Pagi Mangga Dua. Hordes of shoppers descend here mainly for clothes and electronic goods, with the gigantic WTC Mangga Dua and the huge Pasar Pagi Mangga Dua favored for clothes and Dusit and Harco Mas the main electronics hotspots. The reasonable prices can usually be bargained down even lower.

Food courts are abundant, but there are not many special restaurants in the area; the Sarang Kepiting restaurant in front of the WTC Mangga Dua being an exception. There are several hotels very close-by, and the Le Grandeur Mangga Dua Hotel is actually part of the same mammoth shopping complex. There are several popular nightclubs, with the Lido Palace inside the Harco Mangga Dua Plaza a local favorite.

Mangga Dua is bordered by at the west is Jalan Gajah Mada and in the east is Jalan Gunung Sahari, while in the middle is Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta and Jalan Mangga Dua Raya where the shopping centers are located. Once here, it is most convenient to get around on foot. The construction of toll roads and flyovers has made it faster to reach Mangga Dua from the airport and other parts of Jakarta, but it can still become very congested with traffic.
