"All i can say is AMAZING since we got the Heritage Suite!"
13 January 2016
This 280-year old heritage hotel is located inside the city, and its ornate style and craftsmanship is outstanding. Nachana Haveli Hotel is the ancestral home of the Bhadi family, and the chiseled yellow sandstone perfectly matches the yellow sands of Jaisalmer, all magnified by the golden sun. This hotel is often referred to as Thikana Nachana, so keep that in mind when chatting with locals. There is a restaurant on the rooftop which serves delicious local food, and the view is outstanding. For the restless, there are good restaurants just five minutes away from the hotel.

Nachana Haveli Hotel
Nachana Haveli is one of the best places to stay when in Jaisalmer. It is located inside the citadel complex (but not inside the fort premises), provides a brilliant illuminated view of the golden fortress from the terrace, creates a rustic yet unique ambiance and offers brilliant food. We stayed at the suite located on the terrace, which had a sitting area and a bedroom; the bathroom was very spacious and the over all 'red' theme in the room creates an extremely unique surrounding. The hotel offers excellent food; one must definitely try Lal Maas and the Jungli Chicken that they prepare. Good breakfast spread too. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful and so was the hotel management. Highly recommended for a stay.
Stay in Cozy Heritage Haveli”
Nachana Haveli is Genuine Heritage Haveli that offers excellent hospitality . It is owned by Royal Family Members who also happen to live in parts of the Haveli. The ambience is enchanting and takes you back in history. Restaurant is on Terrace and has got nice views in evening . Menu is varied and preparations are nice. Facilities need improvements / renovation . Perhaps there could be limitations if one tries to keep original heritage facilities intact . Yet it would be possible to improve upon few things that we experienced during our stay . The wooden bed was somewhat rickety and made noise while sitting, getting up or with little movements. The wardrobe was too narrow for width of a hanger , hence of no use. The electrical switchboards were not in good condition ( They appeared new ). Bath Linen ( Although Clean) appears to be due for replacement. The noises around the room get inside. Some kind of soundproofing would be helpful.
Nachana Haveli - very disappointing”
This hotel has the potential to be one of the best in Jaisalmer, but it is not. The lack of cleanliness was a major disappointment. We had a large room off of the roof terrace, which on first inspection, looked good. It was only when we looked more closely that we realised just how grubby some of the recesses were. This poor impression was compounded in the restaurant where the level of cleanliness was just not up to it. The staff were excellent but were, I believe, operating against a backdrop of very limited investment (of interest as much as funding) from the owners. We also had an electrical fire in our room, which was heralded by a loss of power in the bathroom and the smell of burning and noise of arcing. The problem, a socket in the main bedroom, was quickly blackened by the sparking and smoke. The receptionist (who seemed to be in charge of the entire hotel), quickly got an electrician who rewired it and declared it safe - I was not convinced. Go elswhere
Lovely heritage building a bit worn around the edges. Beautiful courtyards, architecture, antiques”
Beautiful building, attentive staff in restaurant , great breakfasts. Lovely room (103) although the generator was outside beside the bedroom wall and was extremely loud. It came on in the late morning / early afternoon on two of the days of our stay which wasn’t a problem but it came on one night when we were sleeping and it was quite an alarming way to be woken up!
Great location BUT simple fact is that it is grubby! Bathroom generally clean but overall poor.”
This COULD be a really special hotel - great building and location. It is not recommended because it is simply not clean. Room generally OK but small things missed routinely . Specific examples: table cloths in restaurant at breakfast still stained from previous night’s dinner. Salt and pepper containers on tables ‘sticky’ to the touch, some fittings in rooms obviously not properly cleaned. Also had significant reservations over safety of electrical wiring. Major short in our room resulted in smoke and sparks from a socket (that appeared to be in circuit with lighting and the water heater!!). Overall impression of ‘grubbiness’ pervades the whole hotel. Staff pleasant and willing but do not appear to be well managed - little direction evident. This is a real shame as it could be so good! Slightly higher priced Haveli in Jodhpur is a different world in terms of cleanliness and it makes all the difference.
Hidden gem...excellent staff...great views!”
First off, this hotel is right in the city, and once you are there—it is a bit like being in your own palace. The rooms are very nice, excellent new bathrooms and the AC was great. The main hotel staff is first-rate! The restaurant is a little slow, so be patient.
Excellent location and had an amazing Holi”
Had one of the best Holi with hotel owners and staff. Would love to come back just for Holi. Restaurant- Food taste is very average and serving Staff also need to be more cordial, specially when its Rajasthan. Rooms can also be refurbished for worn-out sofa foam.
You will not sleep at all.”
The owner played loud disco music all night, preparing for a wedding reception to take place 3 days later. The music was so loud, it rattled the windows and furniture in our room until 4a.m. To add insult to injury, at 7.30 in the morning the owner and his friends were shouting and laughing out loud in the center place in front of our room. Otherwise the cleanliness was sub par and the TV did not work... But we would not have been able to ear it anyway.
High on charm, low on mod con”
This 300-year old palace can't be beat for photographic delight. Everything is jaw dropting when you first see it. Staying in it is another matter. The sheets have holes in them., showing that there is no mattress cover on top of the lumpy mattress. The water in the shower comes out in a little drizzle and never gets hot. Everything is filthy. The bedding and mosquito netting is so dusty that it triggered an asthma attack. There is no Internet in the rooms. The service at the restaurant is slow and surly. The breakfast is the skimpiest I've ever seen. They should clean up the place and make it more habitable and raise the rates a little. Then, it could be heaven.
Fantastic hotel at the port of desert”
Fantastic hotel at the port of desert
Great room but a bit dusty. Great ambiance. Good food in restaurant Saffron. Boiler is too small for the bath so not possible to have a hot bath. Apart from that great! Highly recommend this place.
Great traditional Haveli ”
Situated within a 10 min walk of the city gates in a bazaar type area, this is a good opportunity to stay in a wonderfully traditional Haveli offering tranquil surroundings, and clean, comfortable and quirky rooms. They are not luxurious and aspects of them are basic, but overall represent good value for money, especially during off season when we went.
Authentic, beautiful and tasty”
We only stayed for one night but he hotel staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. We booked the suite which was located at rooftop level. Plenty for room, great bathroom, soft beds and great details in the decoration. Flexible with checkout which was great since we arrive very early morning (came in with the 6 am train)
i believed price for this hotel isn t reasonable at all. Room- Not dirty but still not clean. Staff-they nagged me all the time(till night when i am taking a rest) just because they not found my booking number. It was very annoying. And after staying a few days this area, i realized that most of hotels here are much better than here(price, sfaff, room conditions, food) hahahaha -Specially the owner of hotel so arrogant- rude when he ask something. He should do that attitude toward his own staffs.( i am not work for him. Hahaha) Like investment of police. But indeed it has good location. (The only point) Not recommend
Room for improvement”
We were surprise by the location and the set up is this hotel. Impreseds by the decoration which was in keeping of the style of the period. Everything (sight seeing) are within walking distance from the hotel. However, staff are not train properly and the management need to improve to make this hotel a more comfortable stay. We stayed 2 nights, room was not made up after the 1st night's stay. No soap holder Hot water need time to warm up. Laundry service took a long time to be ready. Chair cushions dirty with bird poo in courtyard. It was such la ovely courtyard. Complimentary water bottle suppose to be there but missing. Order tea for room took a long time to be delivered. Staff need training definitely
nice stay in an ancient haveli fully made of stone”
we stayed two nights with two couples of friends. Each room is different as in all ancient havelis. Ours was facing an internal courtyard where we could have a drink in the evening or simòly sit out to read. Rooms had air con and working bathrooms so we could sleep well and recover well from hot days outside. Personnel was nice and the overall atmosphere is unforgettable.
This Haveli, that belongs to the the cousin of the current Maharaja, is centrally located (do not miss a dinner at Saffron, the roof top restaurant) and the rooms (we saw three of them) are all individually decorated, with many personal touches that speaks of all your dreams of 1001 nights. The rooms have 5 meter high (15 feet) stone ceilings, with curtains, beds and everything else curated in a lovely way. The bathroom was enormous with both a bathtub and a shower stall. Flower pots abound and all the inner patios are like oasis of lush green in a desert city. This was the hotel with the most style (in an indian/arabic way) of my whole trip. A quick ride by tuc-tuc will take you to the fort's main (only) plaza.
Very nice hotel”
The hotel was very nice, well located and the room was beautiful. However, we had a hot water issue in the morning and the hotel staff was not very pro-active about it... but hot water can often be an issue in India!
Heritage haveli in superb location”
this small hotel is in a heritage haveli just outside the fort. the building is said to be more than 250 years old, and is constructed of stone blocks. the entry to the hotel is through a stone gate into a courtyard, which leads to two other courtyards around which the rooms are arranged. the rooms are large and have very high ceilings. modern plumbing and electricity make this hotel an excellent choice for those who would like to experience living in, and the architecture of, old havelis without having to forego modern amenities. however, the bed in one of our rooms was a bit eccentric. it was a built-in concrete platform that was almost the width of the room, making it a bit of a hazard to get in and out of without injury to shins. the roof-top restaurant serves good food at moderate prices in a great atmosphere. the location is unbeatable, with anything you want available within a radius of a few hundred metres, and all the attractions in the walled city and fort within walking distance. the best way to see the walled city is on foot, and this hotel makes it easy to do that. at the end of your walking tours, you can buy refreshments and other necessities in small stores just outside the hotel. this is a great place from which to experience the colour and life of the walled city.
Ancient haveli with lots of character ”
memorable stay in this oasis from bustle (and hassle) of jaisalmer. we stayed in one of the suites on the roof of this ancient (but never completed) haveli: the rooms were extremely atmospheric, the bed with (somewhat dusty) drapes hung from the ceiling, one window overlooking the chowk and the little sitting room lit by electric light only. it literally only a few steps from the room to the hotel’s saffron restaurant. contrary to the experience of some other reviewers, we found the hotel service consistently helpful (but not overbearing), and were well looked after in the restaurant, which serves good food as well as having excellent views of the pretty mandir palace next door as well as of the fort.
