NH Barbizon Palace”

This was our second long weekend stay at the NH Barbizon Palace hotel and as per our last visit it is difficult, if not possible, to find fault with the hotel. It's location (100 yards from the Central Station) is ideal for first time visitors to Amsterdam, no need for any trams, taxis or buses to find the hotel. The staff, both at the reception desk and throughout the hotel, are extremely friendly and helpful. On this occcasion we were booked on a bed and breakfast basis, and we found the variety of both cold and hot food/drinks to be well worth the extra money. The location of the hotel is ideal for those who wish to venture around the red light district at night and see how the "other half" lives, and is also well situated for those wishing to "shop until you drop" as it is only a short walk to the start of the Damrak and the shopping areas of Amsterdam. We have already booked our next visit to the Barbizon Palace for the New Year (our 13th year in a row) and my wife and I can hardly wait to enjoy both the delights of Amsterdam at New Year and the comfort and convenient location of the Barbizon Palace hotel.

Space luxury in Amsterdam”

I stay in Amsterdam about 10-15 times per year and the Barbizon Palace is my preferred 5 star hotel. The hotel is a bit more low-key than some of the other more exuberant hotels but I greatly prefer this level of efficiency over just display luxury. The rooms are big for Amsterdam and European capital standards, which means that if there is two in the room you do not continuously bump into each other as is normal in Paris, London or other hotels in Amsterdam. The location of the hotel is ideal; very close to the central station, not more than a 5 minute walk with suitcases, from where it is a 15 minute ride to the airport. It is close to all the entertainment of Amsterdam but it is also an excellent starting point to reach any of the businesses in and around Amsterdam. I never was bothered by it but some rooms can be a bit noisy, especially during the day. But apart from that I cannot think about anything that is wrong with this hotel. Definitely worth 5 starts.

Best in class”

We always stay at the Barbizon when in Amsterdam, its utterly perfect for the money. NH always seem to have deals available and often a night in this 5 star hotel costs only about 20% more than a glorified youth hostel. The staff are very helpful and the little extra touches such as umbrellas being available and an in-room espresso maker really help to complete a great stay. Stay here, you won't be dissapointed.

Great location and attentive staff”

Good location at Amsterdam Centrum, with clean, well appointed rooms from a business traveler perspective. Staff were attentive, prompt in responses even while managing a relatively busy venue, so nothing seemed to be missing from a services or accoutrement perspective. I did hear a complaint from one fellow traveler regarding street noise from party/ celebration, but I see that as an issue inherent to the area rather than anything that the hotel could control.

I stayed at your hotel NH Barbizon Palace between 31 Oct to 5 Nov 2018. During my stay, I have high praises for your team of conceige staff: Edwin, Daniel, Sammy, Nigel, Richard, Niels & Caroline. I was thankful that they were extremely helpful, they are wonderful ambassadors for your hotel. They are extremely patient with me, helping me check on places to go for the day and taking the extra mile in attempting to assist even when i was looking for some hot soup at night. Please do compliment them for their high level of service to make a guest feel at home. This counters the fact that the heater in my room was not working for half my stay, housekeeping always forget an item eg small towel/ big towel etc and your front office check in staff were not exactly welcoming. Your conceige staff warmed me in the cold weather.

Great location and service”

We stayed here during the second half of our stay in Amsterdam and it was much nicer and bigger than our previous hotel. As some reviewers have stated already, the hotel is in an older building but most hotels in Amsterdam are. Our room size was huge (I'm not sure if we got upgraded or if it was the standard room we booked) and it had a nice, comfortable king size bed. The bathrooms were updated which were nice. The location is fantastic and right next to Central Station. The area the hotel is in can get a bit noisy but they provide you with ear plugs, though we didn't use them. The hotel offers free 24 hour wifi with a log in and password but it's annoying to have to get a new log in and password after the 24 hours is up. We stayed here for 5 nights so you can imagine how many times we had to get new log in info. Other than that, it was a relaxing stay. Oh and the soap and shampoos they provide smell wonderful.

Great Location ”

Hotel Barbizon Palace is well located, close to the main train station and trams, as well as many restaurants and bars. Front desk staff and concierge are helpful and rooms are generally a good size. The only negative was our bed, which was narrow but long, which meant quality sleep was not found.

Excellent hotel for the most comfortable stay”

Let's get it out of the way. This hotel is expensive - more than most. But I got a big discount through Agoda and decided to spend for a nice hotel during my stay. This place is worth it. It was winter when I was in Amsterdam and the weather was terrible, snowing and hailing all the time. It was so convenient to have a place near the train station and most of the tram stops. It was also right next to the shopping and eating areas. Inside, there's free water/tea/juice/snacks for everyone. The breakfast spread was also so good, I managed to skip lunch out because I was so full. Rooms are super comfortable with the bath and the beds and many pillows! And best of all the staff was great and helped me with everything. Would definitely go back!

Best location in the city, suberb service”

i think i must have found an extraordinary deal - hard to believe the low price for an enormous suite with 1.5 baths and a spectacular view over amsterdam. beautiful and new furnishings. an a complimentary chocolate fountain in the lobby to commemorate valentine's day!

Amazing!!”

Booked a suite through agoda for incredible price, staff really helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Doesn't look much from the outside but lovely inside. Opposite central stn and right in the heart of Amsterdam. For a special treat book the Vermeer. I've never done restaurant like it before, not pretentious and very welcoming!!

Great Location ”

We were impressed by how friendly the front desk personnel was. We loved how it was perfectly located near tourist spots, restaurants, the red light ditrict and almost everything amsterdam has to offer. I also liked how chic their lobby was, though hallways and rooms were kind of out to date and smelled badly like smoke even though we stayed in a non-smoking floor. Also, they don't offer complimentary breakfast.

Very good hotel”

We were allowed to checked in even it’s not cheked in time yet. Very nice gesture and treatment after 16 hours flight. The room is spacious, clean and well kept. Bed is comfortable. Location could not be beaten, right in front of amsterdam central station. So access to literally everywhere was very easy. 5 minutes walk to dam square and red light area. There are plenty restaurants option nearby.

very well situated hotel close to all travel hubs i.e. only 2 mins away. also close very close to damrak and china town areas of amsterdam. hotel is very clean and furnishings and bedding of good quality. free wifi in room is a big plus given that so many similar hotels still charge for wifi.

We liked staying at Barbizon hotel, the location is great near all activities and main streets/train station and the staff were very helpfull, the internet access is free for 30 minutes every day through user id and password provided by the reception. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of food variety and you feel secured as the elevator cannot be activated without your room card. It is really a wonderfull experience overall.

Fantastic - right in the center of Amsterdam”

This is a very comfortable hotel at a reasonable price, right in the heart of the old Amsterdam centrum.

We were very wary of this hotel after we'd read numerous negative reviews on Tripadvisor, and we thought the price we got here on Agoda was a little too good to be true! We couldn't have been more wrong - everything was great, from the check-in to the room (which was perfectly fine and didn't look run down at all, nor did it have a funny smell) to the WONDERFUL breakfast which was included (and there was absolutely no confusion about that, either) to them letting us stay until 5 pm on the Sunday!! The location is obviously great as well, it's really easy to get to the hotel from the airport and back, and you can walk anywhere in town. I wouldn't pay the full price, but if you get a good deal like we did, book this hotel and get yourself a treat. Thanks, Agoda, all was good and I'll use you again!!

Great location, but rooms could use major facelift”

The location of this hotel is absolutely the best feature of the hotel. It's a very short walking distance to the Amsterdam central station, and behind it is the chinatown which is adjacent to the red light district. And there are many souvenirs shops nearby, which is perfect for last minute and quick shopping for presents without having to carry them around town. The lobby and lounge areas seemed to have undergone a renovation. There were still some renovation work on the lobby when we were there. It looked very nice and modern. However, the rooms really need a major renovation. We booked two rooms, and both rooms looked very dated, heavy and gloomy --- very different from the lobby. I hope they are planning to refurbish the rooms in the near future. Check in and check out were efficient. The concierge was very helpful too. We will definitely consider to stay here again. But... may choose another hotel nearby if they don't renovate their rooms soon.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!”

Amazing location near the Amsterdam-Centraal train station. A little pricey, but the staff was amazing, the place was clean, and it was just what we needed for a quick stayover in Amsterdam.

We are in amsterdam airport from Indonesia at 08.00 am and we go to hotel for check in. And on 09.30 am, i get 2 room from reception. I am very appreciate for earliy Check in from the friendly staff in front desk.
