This tranquil resort is the home of Maharaj Bharat Singh and his family who still live in the beautifully converted red sandstone mansion. The Ratan Vilas is just outside Jodhpur in a quiet garden, a kilometer and a half from the train station and three kilometers from the airport. The huge rooms are stylishly decorated with antique furniture, artifacts, and historic photographs, and the bathrooms are exceptionally clean and well maintained. The hotel serves spectacular Indian and international cuisine in its dining room and under the stars in the ornate candlelit courtyard. Sometimes, Rani Vimla Kumari, the Maharaja’s wife, puts on fabulous cooking demonstrations for the guests. To continue with your reservation at Ratan Vilas, please enter your arrival and departure date into our secure online form.

we stayed 2 nights , its a lovely hotel with the heritage style, we have 2 older children who had a room next to us , wifi was great for them and the pool was beautiful and relaxing after a big day out on the mad streets, the breakfasts choice was also good, I would highly recommend this hotel, also on the second morning we had a early train and the staff packed us breakfast boxes to take it was a lovely touch. regards wendy
heritage hotel with a homely feel”
I stayed at ratan vilas for 3days, two nights and was really pleased with the hotel and the service. It is located away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet easily accessible from all the major tourist attractions. The rooms in the hotel are spacious and nicely decorated. The pool is lovely and well-maintained. There is no spa facility though. Winters are the best time to visit jodhpur, as you could spend hours basking in the sun and reading a book. A candle-light dinner is laid out every evening, however the food isn't good. Wi-fi is way too slow. However, they make up for it with a homely ambience and really humble staff. The owner is a very sweet person to talk to and he himself makes sure all his guests enjoy a comfortable stay. I would highly recommend this property if you plan to take a short relaxing break.
Well run, well maintained hotel, lovely garden, peaceful surroundings and friendly staff. Room was comfortable, clean, quiet andwell equipped. 10 - 15 minutes from centre but easy to pick up tuk tuk or Uber. Highly recommend this hotel.
First Class Hotel - Exceptional Rooms and Surroundings”
Colonial Style Hotel, Excellent friendly staff, Beautiful place to stay with extremely large, comfortable rooms. Really lovely people, very welcoming and we were looked after really well! Would recommend to friends and would be delighted to stay here again!
Fantastic heritage stay in Jodhpur ”
Absolutely beautiful haveli hotel in a great location in Jodhpur. The rooms are set around two lovely courtyards (not dissimilar to some palaces we’ve visited 😂) with gardens around. Our room was spacious, clean and furnished with lovely traditional furniture. The marble bathroom was very large and had a bath (a first so far in India). The pool area was lovely to spend a few hours in the afternoon relaxing by. We ate at the hotel both nights, partly because it was easy and partly because we enjoyed it so much the first night. Jitendra Singh and his team make you feel really welcome and did a first class job in making our stay here fantastic. Can not recommend this place enough - fantastic stay.
Oasis of Calm - Must Stay!!!”
A long pending review. Visited this place on our trip through Delhi-Agra-Jaiselmer-Jodhpur-Jaipur in February 2016. We regret not staying longer in the property. This a gorgeous colonial house still in character of the bygone days. We will be back!!
Oasis in the City”
Wow! This place was amazing! Far above everywhere else we have stayed with regard to cleanliness. The pool is absolutely beitiful and the grounds and facilities are very well kept. Descendants of the original family that built the place still live onsite and you can tell they care about preserving it. The food was also quite good, which I can't say about any of the other hotels we've stayed in here. Amazing service with some of the friendliest staff in India. Highly recommend Ratan Vilas!
Lovely property, hospitable staff ”
It's a beautiful heritage property located in the heart of Jodhpur. Extremely polite and hospitable staff, we got a good rate as well given the online discount. We would've definitely liked to stay longer!
Excellent hotel in spacious setting”
Spacious hotel in lovely grounds and courtyards. Very spacious with excellent pool. Restaurant food was fantastic especially the Mughal makani. Good rooms and very clean. Outstanding staff that couldn't do enough for you. Highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable and relaxing stay
Had a wonderful stay. We drove from Delhi and I'm usually worried about parking the car. Ratan villas had ample parking within their hotel compound. Staff was extremely courteous and the rooms were quite comfortable. Hotel is just outside of the city centre .. So loved the location.
An oasis of calm. With beautiful, well equipped rooms, great staff and lovely food as well. The pool is a treat and they couldn't be more helpful. A true treat amongst the hustle and bustle of Jodphur.
A splendid oasis in the desert!”
Our stay at Ratan Vilas was one of the highlights of our time in India! The welcome was wonderful, the staff were ever so friendly and helpful, the room was beautiful, food was excellent, and the entire space just a joy to experience. Coming back to our room after a hot, exhausting day traipsing around Mehrangarh Fort felt like returning to our own little sanctuary. The only slight downside was the pool closing a bit too early (7 PM), which meant we didn't really get to use it because we were always out sightseeing and eating during the day and early evening. And the wifi wasn't always the fastest, but that's pretty much the case India-wide, and is ultimately such a minor thing. All the good things made up for the drawbacks many times over, and left us with a feeling as warm as the May sunshine. In sum, we highly recommend staying at Ratan Vilas if you're in Jodhpur. For the very reasonable price of a room, this is perhaps one of the best values in all of India.
Great value for money for such a beautiful hotel”
If you are looking for a true heritage hotel with attentive customer service, this is it. Me and a friend had previously stayed at Taj Mahal palace hotel and felt the staff at Ratan had the same level of service they did. I geniunely enjoyed myself and look forward to returning plus it was about 15 minutes from major tourist attractions by car. Not to forget the property was once a polo lodge for the maharajas.
Literally, an oasis”
A stunning hotel, set back from the busy road, complete with wonderfully relaxing swimming pool which was a great place to be in the 37 deg C afternoon sun. Breakfast and dinner excellent with very attentive staff and management. A jug and fridge in the room was most welcome. The new dining room opened during our stay and new rooms are almost completed. One of the best hotels we have stayed at in India over two visits.
We had a wonderful time. It was great after a day of sightseeing to get back to the restful ambience of the Vilas. The dinners and breakfasts were excellent and the staff most accommodating.I only wish it had been warm enough to swim in the pool.
Raj-style comfort and service: a beautiful retreat”
This Raj era villa is beautifully maintained and very elegantly decorated in the style of the Raj era. The building and the garden are beautiful, the rooms elegant and spacious, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool looks fantastic, but the weather was too cold to use it when we stayed. The food also is very good. You must stay here if you are visiting Jodhpur!
Nice hotel ”
Nice stay at this hotel. I am not a big fan of having dinner in the hotel but as I read some reviews as this was pretty nice we decided to do this as well. Food is good and the atmosphere is really nice in this decor. The rooms are very nice and staff is friendly. The pool is big enough to do some laps after visiting.
Best stay in India... ever!”
The most amazing, friendly, hospitable and cleanest place we have been to on our second trip to India. We are so glad to have found Ratan Vilas, as we will be returning to Jodhpur regularly on business. We were at Ratan Vilas during the off-season, hence after a week’s stay here the staff and owners made us feel like we were part of the family. The new rooms, which according to the owners will be ready in time for the coming season are looking lovely and their patio lead directly to the nicest pool area I have seen in a very, very long time. Apparently the wi-fi reception will be considerably better in these rooms too… which is the only thing that could have been a little better, but hardly weighs in considering everything. We will definitely return and I can HIGHLY recommend Ratan Vilas to tourist and business travellers.
A haven of tranquility”
I cannot fault our stay at Ratan Vilas. It is excellent value for money. We were tired and weary when we arrived late at night. We had a complimentary pick-up from the train station and were provided with food and drinks regardless of the hour. The staff are so helpful. We needed to arrange a driver to take us on to Udaipur and this was arranged no problem. It was reasonably priced in a spacious air conditioned car, which took us to Ranakpur on the way, a visit not to be missed. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
A fabulous, welcoming hotel”
We arrived midday and my husband was feeling poorly so we spent the afternoon and evening right at the hotel instead of sightseeing. It was a fantastic place to relax and recuperate. The pool was large and refreshing, and the staff very eager to meet our every need. Unfortunatey we were only there for one night. We both would have loved to stay longer. We highly recommend this hotel!
