Good Value, Great Location”
This is my second time staying at the Regal. My overall take on it is very good. The hotel was probably built in the 90s and is a bit dated, but it makes up for it with good value and a great location. Just a few steps from Hengshan Rd. Station on line 1. and walkable to restaurants in Xujiahui and former french concessions.
The hotel accomodation and service was really good”
If you stay here do not miss the chance do the sauna, and gym activities. They also have aerobic, pillate and yoga in different day, you do not need to pay as long you already check in this hotel. The important thing, you need to ask which level for that activity. It is not only that, the hotel is so convenient for walking streets, there is a garden, spa massage, salon, supermarket and 2 halal food restaurant nearby the hotel. I really love the sauna room here, so spacious with a lot of facility and service, I'm really enjoy and hope to be welcome here again.
Another Great Stay”
Another very enjoyable stay at the Regal Int'l East Asia. The staff is very professional and most speak very good English. The rooms, lobby and restaurants are all in excellent condition - hard to believe this is still such an affordable hotel. The wi-fi was always available and very easy to connect to. This is my go to hotel for any trip to Shanghai.
Great location and helpful staff”
Deluxe room with king bed was very comfortable. Lights and air-conditioning controls confusingly placed next to bed on small hard to read control panel. Carpet was a bit old but clean. Habing a complete non-smoking floor meant no stale cigarette smell. Overall reasonable value for money. Staff helpful and spoke English well.
One of the Best in Shanghai”
Just about the perfect hotel (especially if you're a tennis player - 11 tennis courts with coaches available to hit with). Beautiful rooms; great dining and room service food options, great location in the city, short walk to the Hengshan Rd metro stop, friendly staff with good English skills, The rooms are serviced daily and kept in immaculate shape, never a long wait for elevators. Won't even look for another hotel - if I'm going to Shanghai I'm staying at the Regal International.
My Favorite Hotel Disappoints in 2015”
After staying at this hotel for 6 years straight I've come to expect an excellent stay. Unfortunately I was placed in an old, SMOKING room - even though I requested a non-smoking room months before when I made the reservation. The smoking rooms have not been updated - old furniture, standard definition TV. And while the room was cleaned so there were no traces of previous visitors' smoking, the smoke wafted in through the air conditioning system every night. I still give the hotel staff excellent marks - I have a few issues and they were taken care of in minutes. The wi-fi was working; not incredibly fast but reliable. I will go back - but I will get it in an email that a non-smoking room is waiting.
Another great stay at the Regal International”
Great communication before I arrived; I received an email confirming they would be ready for a late check-in. The suite I had for 11 days was in perfect condition and the staff kept it very clean every day. A nice touch - 4 pillows of varied soft/hardness to choose from. The exercise facilities, including tennis courts, were top notch. And on the day I was leaving the staff watched my bags while I was out and had a taxi ready for my departure. I will be staying there again next year and for every trip to Shanghai. A real 5 star hotel for that price is incredible.
Recently I have stayed in this hotel a couple of times. Fantastic location, attentive staff, really nice and clean rooms and a good deal if one chooses the stay at the Regal Club. Overall I had a nice and enjoyable stay and will definitely come back next time.
Good location and value”
Been here before, the location is perfect if one is on a business trip in Shanghai because of its central location and the bars and restaurants near by. Rooms are clean and comfortable, huge TV with international channels! Breakfast is all right but there could be more choices!
Great stay ”
Very happy with this hotel. Agoda had a great offer on a Club room floor. Lounge was good for meeting although food and service was just OK. Room was lovely and its in a really lovely area. Great DVD shop just around the corner. Would stay there again.
good service with thoughtful staffs.”
Overall the hotel is very clean and staff and very helpful. one thing I dislike is the wifi in this hotel which will automatically shut off leaving my devices without wifi connections when my devices are left unused for about 15 mins . once wifi connections are cut, I will not be able to received instant messages or pushed emails
disappointed and wont come back next year”
we chose this hotel as there are tennis courts, we expected to play tennis during pur stay. And they told me its their policy to book the courts just 3 days in advance. But at the time i want to book, they just said its all occupied for most of the time (7 outdoor courts and 4 indoor courts) And i finally found out the courts were booked by a group of ppl few months ago and which we were not notified. Its really unfair to us and so disappointed. we dont have to choose this hotel if they dont offer courts.
Multiple Regals ”
Be careful, there is another Regal closed by, seemingly belonging to the same group but with only slight name difference; make sure mention the exact address but not just Regal if trying to arrive by taxi to avoid being dropped off at the wrong one...
Misleading, not friendly staff”
One of the main reason for booking this hotel was the big bath tub in the deluxe room. And, of course all the room with the big bath tub was fully booked. If i knew the room didnt come with the bath tub, i could have stayed somewhere with actual bath. Hotel staff was nothing close to friendly or helpful. Definitely not 4 star hotel with 7.9 satisfaction rate. I would avoid this hotel for next time.
Decent hotel but the room was uninspired”
Check-in was simple and painless (their front desk speaks English and Chinese if that's important to you.) They even accommodated a 10am check-in. However, I was underwhelmed with the room. First, the TV didn't work properly, then the shower-head didn't stay put where I set it up in the bathroom and there was no good view from the window. The basic amenities were there, but nothing fancy. The gym consists mostly of treadmills around a window, and the swimming pool is not inside the hotel building but rather in another building outside, which I was disappointed about. Anyway, the room was very clean, and the breakfast was alright but there are definitely much better 5* hotels in Shanghai.
Light switches in renovated rooms are poorly located and hard to find, and there is also insufficient lighting in the rooms. New water spigots in bathroom sink are very difficult to turn on and off.Decoration is a bit outdated. Carpet is fairly maintained, it's relatively long fibres trap dust easily. The swimming pool is great. Location is amazing.
I stayed in 2109 and the room was dim even though I turned on all the lights. The furnishing is old and in need of a touch up. Location is ok if you want to have a drink but I found it hard to get a taxi in the evening and around 10am in the morning. Not much of enthusiasm from staff to greet you. Breakfast was normal nothing to shout about. Perhaps it the value of money.
It's the little things that matter”
I will always stay here, but I do have some issues. • For the first time ever, I was treated poorly in the California restaurant. I asked for a topping-off of my coffee in the morning and you would have thought I asked for a free breakfast. I got a dirty look and a five minute delay while the woman finished folding napkins. • The remodeled rooms are great, but the water controls in the bathroom basin are just horrible. I could not tell “off” from “on”, they are difficult to turn with dry hands and nearly impossible to turn with wet hands. • My room smelled of construction glue and diesel fuel since I think they were working on the room above mine (11th floor) or close enough to get foul odors into my air exchange system. • The internet service in the rooms cannot handle the current load by those who log on. When people only had computers, it worked fine, but today everyone has computers and smart phones and it slows down the system to snail’s pace. Almost all my business work was incomplete since the sending process timed-out and would not allow me to get back on line to finish sending files. NOT GOOD for business travelers.
Regal stated in a good location, nearby mtr, very convenient. However, I have 3 argument during my 4 days stay, first one was about local phone call charges, when i called down to reception, they said local calls was free, after i did the local call, they called back and told me it wasnt free. I was very upset with this unprofessional services, so i talked to manager. Second argument was i asked manager who is their management group and where is their headquarters located, he lied to me in face and said he doesn't know, I was not convinced he doesnt know who he works for and after i challenged him, he changed his wordings and told me it was Regal HK, obviously he knows but just choose to lie. The last one was in the morning of the day i should check out, my wifi was already been cut off at 7am, so i called reception to check, he told me I was not registered as their guest in the system, I said if so then i dont have to pay for my room? So he changed his wordings and told me i was checked out already at 6am, but clearly i was still in the bed at that time. Obviously this hotel wanted to cut me out ASAP, they just cant wait until i check out. As a conclusion, their wifi is slow, services is terrible, at such price, i will not consider to stay ever again.
Good location in FFC, standard hotel”
Great location in the beautiful FFC. Close to metro and good restaurants. Bars and nightlife walking distance. We used the pool and it was nice, but had to exit the main hotel building to go the the pool that was in a different building....not a big deal as it was quick, but worth mentioning. Average hotel, nothing fancy, but has everything you need.
