Kinmen hotels & places to stay

I really like and enjoy my stay in Happy tree. It's a recommended place to stay especially for budget traveller. The place is very enjoyable, and owner is very helpful to explain the places to visit in Kinmen

The Inn is nice but it the public transport in Kinmen that will be the big problem. If you have your own transport definitely recommended.

Only stay one night, next day leaving for local tour than leaving Kinmen. The lady very helpfull willing to drop me to the station that morning. Room is very clean & bed very confortable. Highly recommend.

This hostel has everything you need for traveling! Toilets are clean, bed is very comfortable! Highly recommend! Owners are friendly too!

The best thing about this place is the very helpful owner as if you don’t speak Chinese, ask Agoda for his Wechat account to message him a few days before you arrive and he can sort out (with his staff or guests) an airport pickup and have someone take you around on a scooter. He told me he has very few Western guests (then again, very few westerners know to visit Kinmen and even fewer stay for a few days to see everything there); but he did everything possible to be helpful – even driving me and other guests into town and helping me to book some tours. Note: If you don’t have an international license to rent a scooter, Kinmen does have half day public bus tours for each part of the island (tickets need to be booked in advance); but it’s not easy to figure out how this works on your own if you don’t speak Chinese (you need to go to the main bus stations where they have the tours posted on walls + have tourist offices to book tickets for NTD250 in advance). The only drawback is location as there would be nothing to eat in Beishan – at least at night. So you would need to eat elsewhere or have a scooter to go several KMs into town (the public buses stop after 7pm). The other drawback is the bunk rooms don’t have mattresses – just thin mats on the beds; but IF this is a problem, you should be staying in a regular hotel and NOT in a hostel/guesthouse. There is soap/shower gel + a bunch of face creams in the bathrooms + laundry facilities + free tea/coffee/snacks/water machine. Internet in the main lounge area was usually fast and worked most of the time, but the walls are thick - meaning there is not good reception in the bunk rooms. The building itself can’t be missed as it’s the most famous house in Beishan - Its partially in ruins as it was used as a commander’s house when the Communists invaded. The owner also said his grandmother was from Beishan.

It was great! Everything was clean and the food was great. The menu is in English as well.The staff can't speak much English, so it is best to know a bit of Chinese but they are great at Charades to get by. There are horses next to the hotel and it is located on the beach. Although you cannot swim on the beach, the view is amazing. She also helps you rent Ebikes, but it is now a law in Kinmen that you must have an international drivers license to rent it. But It would be nice to have a bell at the front desk counter because they staff was hard to reach on the hotel side of the desk.

the owner is kind and friendly ppl. its feel like home when u are there. all u need is provided like 5 star hotel. the owner will bring u go place u wanna go and introduce u around. fully recommed to everyone.

We were immediately charmed by this place despite its shabbiness. It's in an old family house with courtyards and cool breezes, lots of plants and a really sweet old man proprietor. He doesn't speak much English, but we communicated with him in Mandarin and it was fine. He showed us around the town, where to get some food and the convenience store, and he showed us how to get to a park and amazing beach (10 minutes walk) on a map. When we left he gave us some fruits from a tree in his garden. As for the room, the beds are a little hard, the decor a bit dated and cheap, and you can hear mice in the walls at night (though they didn't come in our room as far as I know). For the price, it was everything we expected and super cute.

I was happy to be accommodated by this property. The host was friendly and safeguards her guest's privacy from outside tourist. Highly recommended.

hotel was clean and comfortable, also feels homely. peaceful and quiet suburbs. downside is having to climb a bit of stairs upon arrival at the hotel and to get to our rooms.

Very friendly owner, picked us up at the jetty and even sent us to the town area right after. Excellent breakfast and great hospitality. Room is clean and environment is nice!

Beean is located in a village just north of Jincheng, the main town on the island. While there are more picturesque villages to stay in, this village still had a few traditional homes, a couple small temples, a big banyan tree, and an old military bunker. Although not far from the main road, it was quite peaceful in the guesthouse. The owner sent me a text message on the day of arrival. Although his English is extremely limited, he's very friendly. He picked us up from the Shuitou ferry terminal and drove us to the guesthouse at no extra charge. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, so he allowed us to drop off our bags and drove us to Jincheng. That night, we hung out with him and a couple of his friends in the reception/living room, drinking great Taiwanese tea and having snacks. We stayed in the family room which was a loft with a queen sized bed on the first floor, and a double bed on the second. Unfortunately, there was no heating in the room, so in the winter it's a bit chilly

One of the best minsu I've stayed in. This house is totally beautiful and much thought given to the design of every details. The owners are great, friendly and welcoming. I noted a special diet request (vegetarian) through agoda and they took note of that. They prepared a very nice vegetarian breakfast for us in the morning, that's very kind of them. The place is located out of the busy city area, but we had a car, so it wasn't much of a problem. The only downside would be the lack of TV in the room, everything else was perfect. A traditional architecture yet clean and modern design.

It was a perfect hide away place. As far from China as we could get without getting on a plane. The food they offered for breakfast was home made and super tasty!!! It was quite and people were friendly.

Great service with different unique breakfast every day included with very reasonable price! The owner was very helpful, friendly, lovely and marvellous!! I was stucked for extra two days due to typhoon and this made my stay even better, gave me more time to explore Kinmen after my out-station in Kinmen. Airport round-trip transportation was included and very convenient for travellers. You won't regret!=)

Staying at this bed and breakfast place is a unique experience. With room and courtyard (and the whole village) built more than 100 years ago, but mostly well-maintained, it feels like we traveled back in time; though free wifi, big screen tv and AC provide the comfort of modern world. the owner is one of the nicest guys we've met. He prepared good breakfast, drove us to nearby restaurant for dinner, and even dropped us off to our next hotel, more than 10 km away! And when we insisted in giving him gas money, he refused. Talking about great customer service . We will definitely recommend this hotel, though it's a little bit far from other towns, but still accessible by bus and taxi only cost 225nt (from 823 battle museum). howitzer park, which has a long tunnel and various display of howitzer artillery is less than 30min walk from this b&b. We will definitely stay at this same b&b next time we visit Kinmen!

We have already recommended this hotel to friends. The locatin is quite good - need car or scooter - although Kinmen is small and there is a very good system of tourist buses. We had a hire car. Suggestions for breakfast, real butter for the toast, a toaster oven for people to toast the chocolate topping (makes a big mess in the automatic toaster - not by us another guest), fruit jiuce and pork mince. The interestingmilitary these is in keeping with the island's recent history. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Very nice, clean & big room. We have a 7-year old kid staying & they provide us a sofa bed, extra pillow & thick blanket for free. It would be perfect if they serve breakfast.

A lovely stay with really helpful staff who gave us breakfast even though we got up at 11 and put us in touch with a place to rent bikes (which are probably advisable as Kinmen buses are cheap but infrequent and taxis can be hard to get). Not the easiest place to find and I'd suggest going by taxi if arriving from the airport and although walkable from Shuitou Port a driver can help you find the place (it's not named or numbered - look for a business card posted on the door). It's located in the tiny village of Shuitou and probably not the place if you're looking for partying as everything was closed by 9pm, however for a relaxing break it's perfect for singles, couples or friends and is very close to access for a day trip to Xiao Kinmen (Lieyu). The Inn itself is styled like a Chinese Dynastical Residence (not sure if genuine period building or later copy - but great either way) and incredibly beautiful with large, spacious rooms, ensuite and big comfortable beds. There is a decent kitchen and courtyard common area too. While not cheap it is certainly value for money and was kept very clean. Would certainly go back.

The service and location is good. Staff very kind, breakfast provided, transportation to airport and jetty also provided.

The place was a great place to stay if you like staying in a heritage type setting. It was difficult to find and we found it by accident when the staff member flagged us down. The place was isolated so you will need a car or scooter.

Mr Cai was a great host - he made sure we had a vegan breakfast and even helped us by giving us a lift in his car into the city center to help us find a restaurant. The facilities are very nice and clean. Bonus fun for learning the history of the home and finding the little secret rooms and hiding places.

Our group consists of 5 female adults and we stayed in 2 separate rooms( 1 Deluxe & a Superior Quadruple Room). The Deluxe Room is of standard size, However, the Superior Quadruple room which accommodate 4 persons is rather spacious and with 2 separate TV sets, but with only 1 bath room, so members needs to take turn. In addition, the only available mirror is in the bath room , which created a bit of problem for us ladies, haha. Yongyong Home & Breakfast owners are friendly and they provided different and delicious breakfast during our 2 days stayed, which to me was rather thoughtful. The friendly owners even provided breakfast for our tour guide and a friend who join us on the morning of our departure. Both rooms are clean. Future visit to Kinmen, it will still be my choice of accommodation

I was staying on Kinmen with my wife for just two days...we ended up staying an extra night because we loved this place so much. Mr. Weng (owner/operator) is incredibly friendly and goes well above and beyond as a host. He offered to drive us around Kinmen anytime and anywhere we wanted to go: he took us to the Visitor Center to rent bicycles, to a local laundromat to wash clothes, and to local restaurants for dinner. Every morning he would come to our room at 8am with breakfast that he himself drove out into the village to order for us...no payment required. The Guesthouse recently underwent renovations, and two of the rooms are part of the refurbished traditional-style homes that you'll see around Kinmen. Though the rooms may be small by Western standards, they are fully equipped with AC, Western-style toilets, and comfortable beds and pillows. We would definitely stay here again if we ever return to Kinmen. For the money, you won't find a better (or friendlier) place.

The establishment is considered pricey for a homestay, but the hotel is clean and new, it is well maintained too. Although, I think the owner did not put much thought when renovating the house. For example, all the available electrical ports are hidden behind the tv and the headboard of the bed, so there are only a limited two power ports on the ground, next to the entrance of the toilet. Essentially, you need to boil water, charge your devices all on the floor. I would think it is dangerous to have a boiling kettle on the floor next to the entrance of the toilet. We feedback this to the owner but he wasn't receptive to feedback at all, took offence, claimed that it was not his fault the contractor that renovated the house the way it was. This sounds extremely irresponsible. The owner was not helpful AT ALL in introducing the tourist attractions around Kinmen, his recommendations were vague or not helpful at all. We did better asking for recommendations and help from the taxi drivers.
