San Antonio City Center hotels & places to stay

When I first got there, they upgraded me. I was excited the room was beautiful high off the river, great king bed. Well the TV didnt work and the loo was used and not cleaned. I went back to the desk and was given the smallest room they had. And the washroom just the same. I was so disappointed I left the first night crying. It was wasted money. My friend made me go back and try to enjoy it. So we slept the day away ate at the Hard Rock Cafe across the bridge. When we got back to the room, I decided to enjoy the patio but was interrupted by hotel security throwing a teen in the hallway. And they stayed there for 30 min. Police showed up and took the teen away. But GEEZ 341 dollars for 2 nights, I'd expect better. I also had the ac on and it was 40° and I was still sweating in the room. The day of check out I stripped the bed for the housekeeping, and by heck the pillows were yellow. Fluffy but yellow. Oh and the hallways made me feel vertiogiunous. Oh well, now I know better.

Great hotel, quiet and comfortable but still located right in the heart of the Riverwalk and almost across the street from the Alamo. Great for San Antonio sightseeing.

The location, staff, the venue were perfection. HOWEVER our shower would not drain. The staff fixed it immediately but it was still disappointing because it was ALMOST perfect. I go to San Antonio quite a bit because my son attends Trinity so I'll try it again.

Traveling alone with my son and we were greeted by very friendly staff. My son was in heaven the minute we walked in. The room was very clean, small but expected as the building is older. I had read a lot of reviews and I was scared to book this place because of that. I am HAPPY I didn’t pay attention to that. The bathroom is small BUT clean!! Not sure why their was so many complaints about that. My son loved the pool, their were a lot of families so I felt very comfortable. At my sons request (he insisted I write a good review) the bar burgers are the BEST!!! Ladies at the bar were very sweet and took very good care of us. Make sure you look up water taxi times online-they can take a while to get to that stop. We decided to walk along the river and rode back to hotel on the boat-fun ride back. We WILL be back! It will be our to go place when we are in San Antonio.

The Crockett Hotel should be the first and last place you check out if coming to San Antonio. Located just two blocks from the Alamo, it could not be better situated. The neighborhood is completely walking-friendly at any time of day or night. I had a small queen room, which was just fine for my purposes on this business trip. The bedroom and bathroom were extremely clean, and included a Keurig! The bed was very comfortable with full-size pillows, and I love that there was an extra blanket in the closet. The FULL breakfast was the big seller for me--lots to choose from hot and cold. And the price was much better than other nearby hotels.

An absolute gem in the heart of San Antonio! First class staff. They make it easy from the time you arrive until you depart. This is our hotel in San Antonio!

Hands down the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. We were greeted by Sarah and Matthew who were some of the kindest souls I have met. They made checking in and unloading a breeze, which is a huge statement because I have two toddlers under 2 y/o. I’ve seen reviews of people complaining about the (optional) $30 daily valet parking, but I would much rather prefer having our car parked somewhere safe and also having the opportunity to come and go as I please. The breakfast was delicious. For sure the best hotel breakfast. I’m not a morning nor a breakfast person, but for the first time ever I was eager to get up to early to eat their breakfast. The hotel is beautiful. You can literally look at the Alamo as you’re downstairs eating breakfast. And of course the river walk is right down the street (about 2 minutes walking distance) Great location, great service.We have annual Seaworld passes, so We’ll be staying here every time we come to San Antonio.

The front desk is slow. this is the second time I've stayed and both times it was slow. Priscilla from bell services was simply the best. Personality, helpfulness and just all around awesomeness!

It's a great location, just in the middle of San Antonio, very near the central location. It is in close proximity to Henry B Gonzalez convention centre, riverwalk and all the major hotels of san antonio.

Beware : Customer service service can be poor. I’ll explain : I had booked a room for 3 days but was not able to arrive on the first day as my plane was stuck in Chicago due to poor weather. I sent a message to best western customer service and the hotel management asking if it was possible to refund the first night. I arrived the next day and was told at the reception that my first night would be refunded but that the entire booking had been canceled as well (and refunded). I had to book once again (and hence spend additional money since the refund takes some time). I thought it was ok since my first night would be refunded as well. I got a message a few days after stating from best western customer service informing me that the hotel had denied to refund the first night. I do not mind that my first night was not refunded as the hotel is not responsible for my plane delay. I do mind when I am being lied to and when a mistake is done on top of that (full booking canceled)...

The location is outstanding. It is less than a block away from the river walk and only a block away from the Alamo. The staff were friendly and accommodating. It would have been nice if they had parking, they said there was a public parking lot a block away but you had to pay every time you came and left. The hotel valet service was $29 per day, not including tips. There is a small rooftop pool and great views of the city. We booked 3 rooms at the same time, the one I had was larger than the other 2, and had a view of downtown while the other 2 had a view of the brick building next to the hotel. The rooms were clean. I would definitely stay here again.

We were their for a couple of nights to take in the river walk and Alamo, this hotel was an ideal base for us as just a hop skip and a jump from the Alamo and very short walk to the river walk. The rooms were comfortable, clean and roomy not that we spent much time there as there is such a lot to see in San Antonio itself. Finished off the evening in the bar with a delicious Margarita served by lovely bar staff.

Overall, the hotel was ok. I had to get the key card reset twice. I extended my stay and was moved to another room. I never got a text to confirm which is what they told me. I also had to move my own things once we got back. I was told the staff was going to do it. If you tell your customer something, it should happen. No excuses

I was quite disappointed with the internet access. How could you only have 1 access code for only for one traveller where I had book room for two.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Drury Plaza Hotel on the river walk in San Antonio. It is a beautiful building with lovely large clean rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfasts and late afternoon "kickback" food is delicious, and the facilities top notch. The roof top hot tub was my favourite, and my husband enjoyed the gym. I would definitely book this hotel or others in the chain again.

it is a wonderful location situated on the san antonio river walk within easy walking distance of the touristy san antonio down town area. you can walk to the alamo and many other attractions. there are literally hundreds of restaurants on the river walk so you are sure to find something you like. on the other hand the westin itself is dated but for the price i paid it should have been much better maintained. the room had a mildew smell and considering the dry climate of san antonio i have to wonder why. after speaking with others about the hotel they had the same comments, dated and poorly maintained rooms. the pool is small and in the summer (the time i went) it was busting with kids of all ages and doting parents. just to add to the expense of staying there, parking (in and out) is a whopping 30+ a day and no free wifi. there are plenty of parking spaces and a parking garage across the street from the westing that charges 12 dollars a night. i should have done this the first night. however this is how the big name hotels seem to work, the more you pay the less you get. and such is the case here. no real contact with the help except to park the car etc. and they were very helpful but under staffed. mini bar prices are huge but you can find a cvs near by and purchase wine and beer there are also some liquor stores around. all i would not stay there again, there a so many other hotels to choose from on the river walk.

Yes I would consider the Riverwalk Plaza Hotel, for my next San Antonio Trip.. However I doubt that I will ever use Agoda again, since you charged me about $58, more than the closing Hotel statement. Donald G. Hill, PhD.

Can't stand when these hotels are not upfront with a customer. Booked my hotel, paid for it and thought I was good. Next thing you know, I had to pay for parking as well and since I stayed there for 5 days, I had to pay 80+ bucks. Nowhere did it mention on the website that I had to pay for parking. That's just wrong. Location is good though. Close to almost everything downtown.

The hotel decor is a little dated but has new appliances. This hotel is a great value for the money. 2queen beds suite with sofa bed that sleeps 6 for 100$ plus breakfast and an ok dinner and drinks, I don’t think you could get a better deal. The rooms were very clean, beds and pillows were comfortable (Comparable to best western beds) staff was very friendly and seem like they were really focused on making customers happy. Although the dinner was nothing great it beats spending the extra money$ to feed 5.

Our stay here was excellent. Everything exceeded our expectations. Only thing we were not expecting was the valet only parking. Since parking was listed on the site we expected to pay a fee but thought we would still be able to self park. Will be staying here again.

LOCATION WAS PERFECT FOR OUR TRIP AND FACILITY WAS JUST WHAT YOU NEED A CLEAN PLACE TO SLEEP. AND IF YOU NEED MORE THAN A CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST EATERIES ARE NEARBY

We spent the night just to swim the room we rented had a problem with the sofa bed im sure staff was unaware but they moved us to a bigger suit with a better view overall we were happy kids loved the indoor pool it was heated we actually stayed in two other motels over the weekend and both had indoor pools with ice cold water we are happy to find one they could swim in

Everything on this hotel was good food , staff and how clean the room was however we asked for a baby bed ( playpen ) and its was extremely dirty like super nasty white spots all over the mat so we just put my 4 month old on the bed , other than that everything was good

hi, this past weekend i stayed at the hyatt place san antonio riverwalk, unfortunately i did not have a great experience. Checking in was a pain, staff couldnt find my reservation so they wanted me to pay even when i showed my reservation number and receipt. finally after we got things settled , the power went out in the entire hotel, it was due to weather which i can understand, but stairways and emergency lighting was not working anywhere, and staff did not know what to do. As soon as we walked into our room it smelled horribly of cigarette smoke, and when i asked the front if they could change our rooms they said they couldnt until the system was back on, that took about six hours. when we finally got to our new room, i tried to take a shower and the shower head was held together with a rubber band. overall it was a very unsatisfactory stay

My only negative comment is that it was very loud at night. We had a 2nd floor room which was directly about the hotel entrance . The hotel is in a great location and was very clean. The staff was very courteous.

It’s a luxury hotel so expected more impeccable quality or service. The good point was that the staff were all nice (except for the one front desk guy who was a bit rude) and tried to “problem solve” for us. However there were indeed “problems”... no signage for parking and so our car was driven to a wrong area and that front desk guy told me to sort out with Valet directly instead of trying to be helpful. Luckily we need meet David at Guest Services who deserves a compliment as he tried to help us. Also, room was NOT what we booked. We did book a King bed and got two double beds instead... we are a couple and this is a road trip get away and the bed is smaller than my bed at home! But they couldn’t do anything because we booked via “third party” - so? I had to pay the hotel directly actually! I felt like we had worse treatment just cos we BOOKED via “third party” - as they continue to “highlight” that. Room service also got order wrong. Though the staff did try to rectify but shouldn’t happen on the first place. It’s a luxury hotel - I stay in a lot of those around the world for work so I know what is the expected standard. The hardware of the hotel was nice and comfortable otherwise and location was perfect... close enough to Riverwalk but far enough that it’s not rowdy outside.

Pro Cheapest I can find. Con Didn't get our request of lower floor & non smoking room. Door unable to open on 1st try. Breakfast has no pastry.

The room was in poor condition as far as paint and aesthetic. The mattresses were awful. They did have a clean sink and commode, but the shower curtain was stained. Because it was not selected for its comfort or style, you really do get what you pay for. It did the job we needed it to do overall. Would I stay there again? Probably not considering that there were better accommodations in the same price range in the area.
