San Jose City Center hotels & places to stay

Only stayed one night but was very pleased with my choice of hotel. The young man (Matt ?) on the reception desk was very cheerful, pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was basic but good. Rooms were clean and very well appointed--even had a dishwasher! Old Town Campbell was fairly close and had a great choice of restaurants,

We liked the location, the amenities, the breakfast, and the friendly front-desk person who was helpful even though we were a fairly late check-in. The room was fine in all but one respect: floor cleanliness. In one corner of the room, about 25 coins in various denominations (U.S.) had been dumped on the floor. As we approached the bed, we were dismayed to encounter a pair of eyeglasses under our feet (luckily the glasses did not break and cut us). Guess what this means? Nobody vacuumed the floor after the previous residents (or maybe more than one group of residents). Nothing like foreign objects underfoot to make a visitor uncomfortable. The room/bathroom seemed otherwise fairly clean.

Sometimes there are rowdy guests and it's close to the road, but other than that it's a great location with friendly staff and good quality rooms.

I was really disappointed with this hotel. When I arrived at hotel at around 6 pm, I noticed that large tool box was left inside the room and my room had not cleaned yet. I requested to change room and moved to another. But TV was out of order in the second room. The image was frequently disturbed. I called a technician, but that issue was not resolved. I had to change a room again. Any problem did not occurred in the third room, but I found a notice showing that the water issues were occurred at that morning. In spite of many problems, this hotel is too expensive. Staff are rude and unhelpful.

Self-service hotel, except daily room make-up. Good location next to US 101 and downtown San Jose. The staff needs to be more friendly by saying more often "hi, hello, good evening etc...".

Hotel is near the airport and at my sister's residence in San Jose. It's also near the statue and church of Our Lady of Peace in Santa Clara. My family and I are devout Catholics

Nice stay for a week especially in South San Jose where you're conveniently located near many restaurants and plaza. Around the area, this is probably one of the better hotels to stay at...if you want to feel safe.

Very clean, spacious. Feels like home. Breakfast was great. You have everything. Refrigerator, microwave stove, dishwasher etc.... the only thing is the location. There’s nothing in the area like restaurants or stores otherwise it’s great

Very clean, garage parking. Refrigerator, microwave, and sofa in the room. Great breakfast room! Next to Denny’s, close to airport. VTA (light rail) station on the same block. Easy to see San Jose from one hotel! Loved it!

We always stay at Homewood Suites when we travel to San Jose. This is the first time I booked through Agoda. For some reason we did not get a two king, two bath suite when we arrived. I’m not sure if this is Agoda’s error or Homewood Suites. One room had a king and the other seemed like it was a double and the room was smaller than the king room.

Breakfast was simple but good, and they rotated the menu every 3 days. Hotel was clean and provided everything including utensils and microwave..

Going to San Jose downtown from Double Tree is expensive using public taxi. Good thing there is Uber. The room is big, not the newest but has the basic amenities. Bed is great, I had sound sleep. I like the bathtub with its jacuzzi type feature, very relaxing.

We just had a one night stay with toddler. Just ok for a place to sleep. The place was small and looks more like a motel. The walls aren't painted and looks dirty outside. The room looks just an average place just to sleep in.

I only spent one night at this hotel after flying in from the East Coast. My only complaint would be the ridiculous charge for parking my car overnight. Call me crazy but I think at the prices the hotel charges they could probably offer complimentary parking. Otherwise I was very happy with the room size and condition. The included breakfast was better than most domestic hotels (in my experience). And the service was efficient and compentent. I would recommend this hotel for people looking to stay in San Jose, whether for business or pleasure.

Everything was ok but no free parking. It is a decent city hotel that is close to the convention centre. The rooms are clean and fresh. Those going for any convention can consider staying here. The best part is the free wifi but the hotel should provide free parking. It was easy to walk around and very safe.

I make occasional business trips to San Jose and stay here. The hotel is not most accessible, in terms of driving, as it is on one-way street, with 1st street divided by VTA track. However, because of VTA, you can park your car at the hotel and use VTA to go pretty much anywhere. There is a plenty of restaurants in the area, with my favorite Japanese restaurant right across from the street. All in all, the hotel is worth the money.

FYI: The picture of this hotel is wildly inaccurate. There are two buildings, one for smoking rooms (Annex) and one for non-smoking rooms (Main). The hotel itself is pretty average for South San Jose. It's old and needs an interior refresh which is why you can find it for such a low rate (when you compare to similar hotels in SJ area). The rooms have thin walls, old creaky walls, and furniture leftover from probably the 1980s. But hey, I got a decent night's sleep so I can't complain about that. My biggest issue with this hotel/booking is that I accidentally booked the non-refundable rate on Agoda. I immediately tried to correct it (less than 24 hours later after booking it) but to no avail. There is no wiggle room on the hotel's side and you'll get no concessions whatsoever.

This hotel was a breath of fresh air. We have stayed in many San Jose hotels. None with such a great price. Great parking and facility. The bed was super comfortable. The shower water pressure was great. The towels were fluffy. The vending machine was a great deal. The breakfast was good every time. The driveway was new looking with nice landscaping. The pool and hotel were inviting and well maintained. The location was quite considering it was San Jose. We will stop trying hotels in San Jose---we find our go to place to stay.

It was a very good experience. A good hotel. Clean room, excellent mattress and comfortable bedding, that really made me stay in bed longer than expected. The location is very good. With the easy access to public transport, you can go sightseeing without difficulties. And there are a lot of good places nearby. Should take a stroll around the area because it is located in the centre of most beautiful area of San Jose.

The room was neat, the bedding was adequate (no bed bug bites). The. floor was a little dirty but the rest of the room was very tidy. I would stay at this location again, great location lots of tasty places to eat within walking distance Dish Dash just down the way.

The Pacific Motor Inn was in a great spot, very close to the convention centre and downtown San Jose. Hotel has just been revamped. Rooms are very clean, beds very comfortable and new bathrooms. Staff we great. Breakfast was basic but was all we required. Would definitely recommend.

It's located right in the middle of all tech companies and very short driving distance to those offices. Definitely recommended for business traveller who also likes to enjoy comfortable stays after work. Neighbourhood is quiet and rooms are spacious.

(+) Shops & restaurants nearby, 15min walking to downtown. Room is very clean even its carpet and drawers, it has been refurbished. 2 usb & 1 power plug each side of the bed and some other spots, very comfy bed, single seat in the king room. (-) Very noisy air con, not good insulation (heard people talking in next room, sound from outside and upstair), bathroom light not bright, tiles at washroom not look good.

Hot tub wasn't hot and fitness center was under construction. I know when they done with remodel it will be great and when I go back I will try it.

The hotel was in good location just a few minutes walk to the train station. Rooms are big, staff were accomodating, facilities wise they have a small gym near the reception but bit dissappointed that it was broken and I have already mentioned it to the staff but they didnt fix it at least at the time when I was checked in there.

Other than the fast internet and the relatively easy check in and check out (I prepaid online when I made the reservation - so that made the process much easier) I did not enjoy my stay at the Super 8 Motel. It was far from the airport and far from shopping areas/eateries. We had to walk about 30 minutes to get to the nearest shopping plaza. The bed and pillows are uncomfortable and when we inquired about the lost and found, there were varying answers for why they could not help us locate the missing items.

Wonderful gem of a hotel. Felt like i was in a palace. Lots of instagrammable places in the hotel. Would definitely stay again.

Location is about 15 minutes drive from San Jose McEnery Convention Center where my conference was held. Stayed here for 6 nights. The good thing is that they provide coin washing and drying machines (1.50 each, but you might need to do twice drying like i did) Breakfast is good enough. You might find some of their staffs being unfriendly though ~~

I would highly recommend Staybridge Suites. Staff is extremely courteous- they go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. In addition to that entire facility is well maintained and kept very clean. Finally they offer very nice complimentary breakfast which is far better than all other hotels.

Location about 1,5 miles away from downtown but walmart & restaurants (24hr) right across the street. Building exterior looks not impressive but quiet feeling and room interior is good. Queen room has double seating sofa (surplus), comfy bed, microwave, refridge, coffe maker, good shower & heater, not the best wall insulation but still good (minor sound from next room) as i stayed before in Hilton San Fransisco Union Square, Best Western Plus Hotel Milpitas and some 4-5 stars hotels have very bad insulation. Wifi is good enough even my room at the end of building. Overall cleanlines is good enough, but when i firstly entered the room i found food crumbs on the carpet (maybe room cleaner forgot to vacum from previous guest) and room smelt something strongly not nice so i opened the door about an hour for circulation. And i dont like sunroof above the washroom, a bit annoying when sleeping on daytime.
