The district is home to various offices, apartments and commercial retail outlets, including Shanghai Multimedia Valley, an IT and media hub. The commercial, recreational, and hi-tech zone in the middle of the district is the home to Daning Lingshi Park, the biggest open green space in central Shanghai. The Dipingxian Communications Device Market is the place to go for anything cell phone-related.
Shanghai Railway Station is located in Zhabei, and is the final stop of the main Beijing-Shanghai railway line. The station can be reached by taking Lines 1, 3 or 4 of the Shanghai Metro system. Due to its excellent connection with the Shanghai street network, the station can also easily be reached by taxi. There are several hotels close to the Railway Station which cater mainly to business travelers.
The North-South Elevated Highway links Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong with downtown Shanghai. Zhabei District is only 25 minutes’ drive to Hongqiao Airport, 45 minutes’ drive to Pudong Airport, and ten minutes’ drive to the central business district of Shanghai (which includes the Bund, the People’s Square and Nanjing Road).
