More about Shin Osaka

Shin Osaka / Esaka Station is an essential transport hub for those visiting Osaka, but it lacks the commercial appeal of the districts to the immediate south. This area mainly serves through-travelers and visitors on business.

Shin-Osaka has one of the principle train stations in Osaka. This is the terminus of the high-speed rail that connects from Fukuoka. A selection of three- and four-star hotels in Shin Osaka / Esaka Station is available around the train station, catering to business travelers, Japanese planning onward connections and the occasional international tourist.

Esaka Station is another important transport hub serving the Osaka metro. The Midosuji Line passes through, connecting the district with important stations all along the city’s north-south axis. This is Japan’s second-oldest metro line, and passengers who arrive at Shin Osaka station can easily transfer to this line to access the city center.

As there are relatively few tourist attractions here, most visitors choose to capitalize on the public transportation options and connect to livelier districts to the south. Those who choose to book hotels in Shin Osaka / Esaka Station are generally short-term visitors who planning on doing minimal shopping and sightseeing. The exception is budget travelers who don’t mind trading a daily commute for more affordable rooms.
