Unique Experience”
This hotel is centrally located in a former government building built with Soviet assistance in 1953. It is flanked by a 'regular' Sofitel on each side and a Mercure and Grand Mercure behind. It was amazing to find architecture like that in Xian, and it was refurbished beautifully. A really exceptional facility. It was opened in Sept. 2014, so was still very new at the time I stayed there. The key staff were impeccably well trained. The 'butler' service is amazingly good. They handle everything. Computer wouldn't connect...no problem. The Italian dining was excellent, even for Shanghai, never mind a 2nd tier city like Xian. The rooms are well appointed, not small but not huge either (luxury king room). My only disappointment was the breakfast. The buffet was something I'd expect from a 3-star hotel. The selection was a bit meager, fruits only local and of average quality. The congee was luke-warm, wontons over cooked, other Chinese items were made outside and warmed up in back (and tasted like it). I could not get a proper omelette (everything on the side?), the Eggs Benedict was over cooked and improperly made. The coffee, bread, and pastries were all first rate. Everything else points to them working out the kinks. My overall impression was of a unique and delightful experience.

The Sofitel Legend People's Grand Hotel in Xi'an is a beautiful and luxurious hotel in the middle of Xi'an, one of a handful of Sofitel Legend Hotels in the world. We loved our large room, with the huge bathroom and complimentary snacks/drinks in the mini-bar. Service was great and breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious, with both Western and Eastern options. The free drinks and snacks during happy hour in the cocktail lounge were a nice touch as well.

Excellent Service at Sofitel”
Had a great stay at the Sofitel Legend. The staff especially the concierge were especially helpful in helping me arrange for dinners and also to order stuff online. They even paid for my product first as I did not have wechat pay. Hotel rooms are a little odd shaped but that is due to the narrowness of the historic building. Good size and comfortable. will consider staying here again.

Deceived and disappointed”
I agreed to pay 50% more than similar luxury hotels , expecting the experience to reflect the extra cost. The reality was much different. Comments on the good, the bad and the ugly: - Location: perfect, within walking distance to some of the main attractions - Decoration / atmosphere: fantastic, like staying in a museum - Service outside concierge, excellent. Now for the bad and the ugly: - Food (average): Italian restaurant is average at best. Bread in the morning is dried as if it had been reheated from the previous day. Breakfast is good, and the Chinese restaurant at the Sofitel sister hotel is excellent. - Temperature (bad): 15 Celsius in common areas, unacceptable at this level, so cold in the restaurant the wine never even opened up and you want to run up to your warm room after staying anywhere more than 5 minutes. - Rooms (bad) : small, although I was upgraded when I mentioned it, and very impractical. - Internet (worse): utterly unacceptable. Slow, patchy, sometimes disappearing for up to 15 minutes. Password was changed twice without us being informed - Concierge service (UGLY): this is truly shameful from a group like Accor. The concierge are out to cheat you almost every opportunity they get - no exaggeration. Daily car rentals with English speaking "uncle" proposed at three times the going rate. Taxi meters are called and don't use meters to the airport. Full price first class bullet train for 2 tickets but actually only one in first class, the other in second class. The only concierge that stands-out for being honest and truthfully helpful is Danny. "Friends" that can help us by ceramics, if we want to go ourselves, incapable of suggesting a place. In the end we paid more for extra service, essentially for not having to deal with the usual hassles associated with service / people issues in China. It doesn't work out that way, quite the opposite. My advise save you money, and go to other international chains.

me and my boyfrined spent Chinese Valenties Day at this hotel. We've got anything a customer expected. The floor and bed was decorated by fresh rose. We got a suprise from Hotel management team. friut basket and cookies also,the room has been upgrade. We feel welcom and just like stay at home. very unforggetable memory. Highly recommmend!(if your budget is flexible)
