Wonderful Gem On a Country Road”
Ambiance, Host, Rooms
We very much enjoyed our stay. While the Sonoma Coast Villa and Spa is in a slightly remote location, it is a wonderful location to base your wine country tours (especially the Russian River Valley and even Sonoma) and is a great spot for a romantic or girls weekend retreat. The Spanish Architecture is wonderful and well done. The Jr. Suite and Villa Rooms are great sizes and all with wood burning fireplaces. The price fixe dinner was expensive when paired with wines and adding in taxes and fees ($317 for four) but it is great to have dinner served there as opposed to heading back out after a long day of wine tasting. The continental breakfast is large and lots of variety. Well worth the fee if it is not included in your room rate. The facility has an indoor hottub and a small outdoor pool. Looks like a great place for a function or small wedding. There is a reading nook in the attic above the lottery. There is NO cell signal on the entire property necessitating wi-fi connection to communicate via text or email. Unfortunately, there is a fee for wi-fi that should be free given the lack of cell signal. We did not know there is no cell signal (looks like you have one bar but it is so weak that you can't make a call or text). The host is a lovely Austrian man who is clearly overworked in trying to do most of the work himself other than some room cleaners and kitchen help (he was even the chef!). But, he was gracious and kind and we enjoyed him. The bathrooms are fine but could use some upgrading and interior design. This is in start contrast to the room itself which is lovely. We would definitely go back to this resort and encourage others to do so. A real gem.

Beatiful property in decline”
Grounds, location and breakfast
We stayed here about 15 years back in the exact same room. We loved it and decided to come back. Our room had not been updated in all those years. There is serious deterioration of this once beautiful location- everything needs updated and their are structural faults throughout the property. This once was, but is not currently a luxury location and is not worth the price. To add insult to injury, we were charged an extra $10 per night for internet. Who charges for internet these days? The Chateau has fallen into desperate need of repair. Someone buy this property and restore it to it's previous splendor- please.

Wonderful weekend! Peaceful, relaxing, comfortable”
The aura & rustic feel of the room, The beautiful grounds, we were able to bring our dog which was a deciding factor actually!
My husband & I decided to get away on a much needed romantic weekend with no kids. It was the perfect atmosphere for relaxing and the grounds and surrounding area to the Villa were gorgeous. The owner Johanas, was very attentive and also a wonderful chef! The food at the breakfast buffet was very upscale, and deliciously prepared. The room was comfortable and clean. I only had a couple of issues, one being that I think for as much as this villa charges for a nights stay, that they shouldn't charge you again to have wifi access. Everyone uses wireless communication these days and not having wifi included was a big bummer. Secondly, the bathroom had a wonderful full size jet tub which I really looked forward to soaking in, but the jets didn't work and there were no instructions for use. We also had a rather large lizard visit our bathroom in the middle of the night which I stepped on in the dark and it scared the life out of me! Of course, that's not the villas fault, just something for others to look out for in this area. We loved the close beach access as well! We definitely recommend The Sonoma Coast Villa & Inn to others traveling in the Bodega Bay Area, and we would most definitely stay there again on our next trip to the Coast!
