Not as good as it used to be”
I stayed at the Souphaphone a few years ago on several occasions and I thought it was good value. This time I stayed a week and looked forward to leaving. During the evening and mornings the rooms and hallways reeked of stir-fry grease smell from neighbouring restaurants. This wasn't the case a few years ago. The A/C unit in my room stopped working twice during the time I was there. The other thing I didn't like was the poor lighting in the rooms. And having a window in your room is pointless if a wall from the adjacent building is blocking light. Lastly, prices have gone up and I think there are better value hotels elsewhere in the city.
Pleasant clean hotel in good location”
We only stayed for one night but enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very clean and the staff helpful and professional. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfy. The location is great - very near many popular restaurants and shops. I would definitely recommend and stay again if back in Vientiane.
Really great little guesthouse. ”
I quite love this guesthouse. The floors are all hardwood, it's in a side-street, so it's a bit quieter than most, the bed is big and comfy, and for those times when I just wanted to relax a bit, they have a TRUE movie channel. The shower is a basic, hot-water shower, but that's all I need. Very happy with this place for the price. Location wise, it's quite conveniently located. It's in a backpacker area so there are coffee shops and funky shops all over the place. Not so much around the hotel -- as it's by the river street, which is more expensive -- but if you walk back away from the river, there are just tons of cool places to chill by day and evening. For actual riverside (or as close as you can get in Vientiane), when you walk to the river road, turn right and just keep walking along the river. From about 0.8K up you'll start to hit bars, and eventually a long line of outdoor restaurants set up. A good place to chill and enjoy the sunset.
Great hotel stayed 8 years ago. ”
Great location at a good price. In 8 years it has become an area of boutique (read as luxuriously expensive) hotels. 3 floors of rooms ... recommend doubles with window. Simple but spacious rooms. Happy Staff ready and eager to help. No elevator so try for the coveted 2nd floor😉
A very good size room in a great location. Near restaurants and Mekong river night market. Internet a bit slow at times.
Great location clean room”
Room was clean and a good size. Near restaurants and night market. However, WiFi is weak and up and down a lot!!!
Large, clean room with fridge and TV, acceptable a/c, excellent shower, good staff, nice lady at reception. Fastest ever check-in: 3 seconds max! Great location near night market, restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. I would definitely stay there again.
Value for money”
Wasn't expecting much for its price, but was pleasantly surprised at how clean, tidy, and well-maintained this accommodation is!
Found previous guest hair in the bed. The hotel does not allow additional guest. Not possible to host if you have more friends coming.
Value for money at great location”
Great location for enjoying the town, but 20 minutes from Thai embassy. Very friendly staff. All together very nice and friendly feeling about the place. Nice clean and cozy room, hot shower, great bed! No noise. Wifi ok.
Nice hotel, friendly staff, good location near night market.
great guesthouse in perfect location”
Everything was excellent except they don't provide breakfast and there is no jug/tea/coffee in the cheaper rooms. Very quiet and central to eveything. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby.
I've stayed there before and both times I've found the room to be clean. The staff are really helpful and the guesthouse is close to lots of places to eat and drink.
Thoroughly enjoyable stay in a good quality accommodation with friendly, helpful staff. A lot of stairs to climb (may not suit everyone) but we had a super view over a temple & enjoyed monk watching. It was meticulously cleaned every day. Good value for money. Good location for shops & restaurants. Recommended.
Great value and awesome location”
Great guesthouse in the heart of the nightlife. The room is large , clean and the staff are extremely helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
It is all about the location and the price. Nothing spectacular BUT that will do the job.
i could go to some attraction by walked also reasonable price.
This family run operation takes great pride in their guesthouse. Very supportive and friendly. Clean, well appointed and well located. Great value.
My Vientiane Home”
The towels smell like bubblegum! It's a lovely clean place. Well centered between Common Grounds Café and Joma Café. I've stayed there 5 or 6 times over the last ten years.
Clean but badly staffed ”
This guesthouse lets itself down with its staff, they are so rude and unhelpful, not a good trait when working in hospitality. When we arrived we asked if they had change so we could pay the tuk tuk driver, there reply was they were not there to help with that sort of thing. We also asked if they had a printer for our boarding passes and they just said no, there was no sorry but you can go here, we actually asked the hotel next door and the lady was so kind and didn’t even want to charge us. They were just rude throughout to be honest. The beds are also rock hard with springs popping through and I woke up with bruised hips both mornings. It’s a shame really as it’s very clean and great location
