PROS - Spacious room - Good amenities - Comfy bed and sofa bed - Worldwide power socket and enough for 3 persons to charge phone - Short distance from MRT Yuyuan - Extremely helpful staffs (able to speak English fluently) - Nice buffet (Mainly Asian food but they offer western food too) CONS - We booked FAMILY ROOM which is big and there were big windows. This cause cool breeze from outside sneak in the room that make our room very cold (outside was below 5 degree C. at night). The hotel offered us a portable heater which was great. - MRT Yuyuan close earlier than other metro lines. Make sure you can get back to the hotel by the time MRT close. Finding taxi at night is not that easy because they can refuse.

Great hotel with super friendly staff”
We stayed for a few days with our kids, 5 and 9 years old. The hotel is a great place to stay, with nice rooms, a restaurant serving great dinners and a really nice breakfast. The staff is very friendly and helped us out when our flight to Cebu got cancelled. The location is really good, a walk from Old Town and short taxi ride to the Bund. We would defenitly stay there again when visiting Shanghai.

The staff were nice. Room was clean and spacious. We came there early and they allowed us to check in 5hrs before the actual check in time plus on our last day, they allowed us to check out late too (2hrs ext). Good and easy to find location. Drop off at Yuyuan Garden station then Exit4, turn left, look up and you’ll see the hotel building right away. It’s about a 2-min walk from the exit. The Bund is a 10-min walk from the hotel too. 😊 Thank you!!! Looking forward to book this hotel again next time. 😊😊😊

Enjoyed our short 4 nights”
After reading several of the previous reviews, I decided to stay at this hotel. I'm glad I did. The location was great, the room was nice. Be prepared, the ambiance is very dark at night. Both in the hallways and inside the room. We chose the SSAW Room. Found it to be adequate but had some quirks. The main one was the lack of dresser/drawers. We lived out of our suitcase. Glad it was a short trip. The room seemed cramped while the bathroom area seemed very large. Easy access to the subway system. It's around 3-5 minutes from the hotel to the entrance of the subway. Be prepared to walk thru some water puddles as it rained everyday we were there. Nice restaurant located next to the hotel. It's more of a bar and they have great food. A mixture of western and Chinese. You should find something that makes you happy. They have nice specials too.

The hotel is located near to Yuyuan and good for us as tourists. Close proximity to many tourist spots and eatery. Staff are quite friendly and helpful. Hotel comes with free supper, which is a plus after long day walk in the winter. Overall a great stay and it’s recommended to all tourists!

Walking distance to many places (or 1 , 2 stations away) i.e. Bund, East Nanjing St, Yuyuan. Breakfast is good, I do particularly enjoyed its chinese food. Juices are fresh too. Bedroom is big. Amenities acceptable and enjoyable within its class and budget. Staffs are helpful and speak english.

Near to subway”
Hotel is near to subway Yu Garden line 10, exit 4. It is about 5-8 minutes walk. There isn’t a drive in to the hotel, hotel entrance is just at the road with one walkway gap. Lobby area is not big but is well presented. Room size is alright but you’ll have to manage the space for 2 luggage. Bed is soft and comfortable. Breakfast is good with variety but the selection reminds the same (except for 1-2 hot vegetables interchangeably) for the 4 nights we stayed there. Overall, it is a hotel that you won’t mind staying again.

Basic Hotel”
Not a hotel for families with toddlers. You have to carry your luggage plus the stroller up to the lobby, nobody will help you. No help from anyone at all. My son bumped his head on the side table and was bleeding. No nurse, no one knows first aid. The staff were trying their best to communicate and was friendly. But do not expect anyone to help you with your luggage, they will just give you your keycard and you go up by yourselves and look for your room. Hallways are very dark, and there was blood stain on the carpet infront of our door, room 3009. Creepy. At first during check in they said the room has bathtub but when we went up, there was none.

Great Location, Room, Breakfast -- Relaxation”
We were thoroughly delighted to have selected SSAW Shanghai for our 5 night stay in Shanghai. It was a relaxing oasis in a very crazy and busy city, and such a good value. The room was very inviting with 4 poster bed and white down comforter, with sliding doors to a very decent sized bath, compete with spa shower and two sinks. It reminded me of the room we had at the W Hotel in San Francisco -- not overdone, just very nice. The bath was clean and nice and the room as well. The next morning we could not have been happier sitting out on the rooftop table area sipping our coffee from the European coffeemaker, with birds in cages and a sumptuous buffet. The buffet had everything you'd expect from a nice US buffet -- egg chef, cereal, fruit, and it also had an incredible Chinese breakfast of salads, hot dishes, exotic fruits, etc. We were so happy with it we brought our friends to eat with us the next day. I would definitely suggest making sure you select a room that includes the breakfast. The staff was very helpful -- getting us cabs; writing in Chinese characters to give a taxi driver; orienting us on a map, helping us find a restaurant and shopping. The location is perfect -- easy walk to the Bund, easy walk to Yuan Gardens, easy walk to Peoples Park. Much more central than the more expensive hotels on the Bund. There was some outside noise since it's a city street but it wasn't a problem. We loved it and would highly recommend SSAW Shanghai.

Perfect for a busy tour schedule”
We stayed at SSAW Boutique Hotel Shanghai Bund for 4 days 3 nights in the family room. It was spacious and comfortable and fully equipped with everything you need! The Thai decoration theme was also pleasant, like staying in a resort in the mid of a bustling city. The breakfast and supper spread was not excellent but satisfactory. However, the overall facility wasn't great (i.e. small lobby area; spa area and launderette is the same floor as residence room hence lack of privacy) but we didn't mind because we only used the hotel for sleep and rest. Excellent service by all the hotel staff, always friendly and willing to help! The hotel is also 400m away from Yu Yuan Garden Station so travelling was a breeze. It is also 10 mins away from tourist hotspots like The Bund and Yu Yuan Garden. Would definitely stay here again!
