The Maslow Hotel Sandton
Great hotel with beautiful stylish decor. And the inhouse Africology spa is just an amazing addition”
Overall great hotel, deserves the 5star rating. The Lacuna restaurant needs improvement on a la carte menu options. The kitchen staff can do better on being warm and welcoming, provide a sense of urgency. I had an unpleasant experience during breakfast, buffet.
Incredible hotel , great buffet breakfast. We couldn’t believe the speed of the elevators and no waiting. Staff in kitchen sweet and helpful. Only down side are some of the the staff in breakfast restaurant who really are not friendly. It felt like they were doing you a huge favour when you asked for a coffee. I asked someone at front desk if I they could please give me a hotel pen if they had one and again while she gave me one eventually it was with reluctance. There were some very warm and obliging staff members but it just takes one or two to leave a less favourable impression. This should be addressed as the hotel is otherwise faultless.
Good location spacious suite”
Security is very tight at this hotel which is very much important in Africa. The junior suite was excellent in terms of space and service. We have a bottle of wine and one day of in room breakfast free.
The hotel is excellent and good value for money. Keep it up! ”
More effort needs to be put in cleaning, especially the carpets. The bathrooms are beautiful, makes one look forward to a shower. My only disappointment is with the dining service, the food is good but the staff are very cold. Service during breakfast is too slow and very unfriendly. I have noticed this on several occasions during my stay at the hotel, such that I now avoid dining there. It’s difficult to have breakfast elsewhere so I continue to have it at the hotel regardless. You’ve done an excellent job with the hotel, just get your staff to behave like they like to have guests there rather than behaving like they are doing guests a favour.
Staff are absolutely rude and unhelpful. From the moment I walked in I felt very unwelcomed. Unprofessional staff. No smiles. They don’t talk back. Asked the waiter for a cappuccino at breakfast and he just looked at me. Tried another waiter and the same. No teaspoons or drinking straws at breakfast. Asked housekeeping for extra towels, we were a family of 4. Only 2 towels in the bathroom. She cross-questioned very rudely as to why we needed 2 additional towels. Very rude and arrogant. Reception area was very foul smelling and disgusting.
Boring business hotel”
I stayed at The Maslow twice. My first impression was that it is a boring business hotel but it was comfortable enough for one night. The second time I stayed there (which was also for one night), I wasn't impressed anymore. Staff are friendly enough but don't seem to provide too much of a service. Breakfast staff were hardly seen so tables weren't fully set with cutlery. A first time for me was when I asked for a fork and spoon from room service and was told I'll be charged R20 for it. No thanks. Overall, if you're there for a couple of nights, I feel it's a good hotel for its location and security. But no warm, welcoming feel. Also, there are others in the same area to choose from. I will not be staying here again.
The carpets not so clean and toilets have a bad smell. Otherwise all is good.
Outstanding hotel, amazing and friendly people with amazing facilities. Will definitely be back.”
I had such an amazing time at the Maslow..Everything at Maslow is awesome and in place..Though we need varieties on your a la carte menu..Please UPGRADE it..I hope to see a different menu when Iam in to South Africa.
I have been going to the MASLOW for 12 yrs. Prior to that the Crown Plaza, So any one that goes to the same hotel for now 21yrs... There has to be a reason...The Maslow staff are genuinely excellent... And I'm not being paid for this reference !! Bob Kent - MSI. - England
Oasis of comfort and tranquillity”
This is how 5 star Hotels should be run. Great rooms, especially the Junior Suites, great restaurant serving brilliant steaks and a variety of equally great foods. The pool, although on the small side, allows for sunbathing, if that's your thing, as well as a relaxing swim. Staff couldn't have been friendlier. Also offer a regular free shuttle on the half hour into Sandton City, great for shopping and dining out (but we didn't need to eat out)
Clean room, great location”
Inside the hotel looks very modern and nice. The rooms were clean, nicely designed except the shower room wall was glass walls so.. you can actually see it from your bed. It would be very uncomfortable if you're traveling with your friend when sharing room. The checkin counter staffs were nice and friendly but the staff in the breakfast was terrible. Very rude. We asked for a new strawberry jam because the ones that were on the table (i think they set the preserves on the dining table) were used. The staff told me they don't have it anymore in a rude way as if she was annoyed. So we asked another staff and they gave us a new one. (Because it's impossible for them not having a new one!) It seems like they don't care much about the customers needs. Very dissapointing. However apart from this everything was fine.
Stay at Maslow”
I had a great time. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable about most things. The food was splendid and the environment was very nice. Didn't dare to move around outside in the night time but that is not the hotel's issue as it seems South Africa on the whole does not present a safe image.
Worth the visit”
Had a wonderful stay. The hotel is near Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square and provides a free shuttle service to these and the Gautrain every 15 min. The rooms are comfortable and especially well equiped for business. Everything you may need is provided for in the room - especially good mattresses and linen. The food in the bistro was fantastic and the service equally good. In general the staff are friendly and helpful, especially the drivers, pool and cleaning staff who displayed a genuine willingness to make my stay comfortable. Well worth the visit and great value for money.
Great Business hotel!”
We stayed here for two nights and would love to stay longer. Facilities are very clean and neat. Service is great. There is a decent gym there aswell. One great thing we love is the shuttle service to Sandton City. All the drivers are very very friendly and will give you all tips you need to know. I had fun with the conversations we had everytime we hop on the shuttle:) Great customer Service!
Couldn't fault them - initial issue with room assigned but resolved quickly and efficiently. Staff all very friendly and helpful, greeting by name a lot of the time. Food and drinks at the restaurant and bar all to a very high standard and far cheaper than what what we're used to in Aus. Easy 10-15 minute walk to Mandela Square and Sandton Mall - always felt perfectly safe when walking back and forth in Sandton, plus they have a free half hourly shuttle bus anyway. Pool and grounds are stunning - great setting to relax. Hotel is used a lot for business conferences so we occasionally looked a bit out of place as tourists, but I'd hardly consider that a problem! Would definitely go back!
Everything matches expectation”
A nice and comfortable stay”
A perfect choice for a business trip to Johannesburg. Good location. Breakfast buffet is great! Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Excellent stay in Sandton”
We had an excellent stay at the Maslow. The staff is very well trained, room well appointed and the food was excellent! I will definitely recommend this hotel to business travellers going to Sandton.
The reception from the hotel and the hospitality..
