Heaven in Tucson”
I love this property, even have a favorite room picked out now that I will request for the next visit. La Paloma is how you do Tucson, unless you're lucky enough to stay at a house in the foothills with a view.
Relaxed and hung out at the pool. Kids got the most out of the waterslide!”
The slide is well supervised and has height limitations so my little guy couldn't go on it, even with an adult. But we understand safety first. The rooms almost feel like little casitas and are spread out, but their are carts that will help you around.
Westin meets Talladega ”
I've been a frequenter of the La Paloma for over a decade. The resort is in a great location with gorgeous views and amazing grounds. The rooms are what you'd expect from a Westin - clean and comfortable. The staff is nice. The problem with the resort is that the clientele has drastically changed over the years. When I used to visit the resort, the clientele were mostly professionals, couples, or families with small children. While the resort was never empty, it was never packed. This has really changed. After my last visit, I'd describe the resort as similar to a country concert venue. It was packed to the brim with people and was a complete ruckus. If you were looking for a booze-filled circus, this was your spot. When I think about Westin resorts I think about relaxing, luxurious, elegant yet non-stuffy atmospheres. The La Paloma has moved away from this. My advice to Westin: raise prices 50% to solicit the clientele your brand is associated with. Until then, I'll stay at the JW
It's all about the pools”
My husband and I stayed for UA graduation. We booked the room about 9 months in advance but when we checked in on Thursday afternoon we were told only one room was avail with 2 queens (as how we booked). It was in the way back next to huge parking lot...which was very noisy. I would have liked to open my windows/doors for fresh air but the street nose was awful. Saturday night had a party and the street was noisy for hours! The rooms were just ok, for $350 a night I was expecting a nicer room, looked like an upscale Best Western. Plus Im almost sure the queen beds were doubles....very uncomfortable for 2. Bathroom was newish and upscale. Saturday morning we stood in line at the Starbucks for a quick breakfast around 10am and went to sit outside on the patio. Tables were still dirty from the night before and we had to find a staffer to clean up. The pools were nice and refreshing. We had fun at the swim up bar tho the drinks are quite pricey...a bucket of beers, 6 cans, for $60! wow A shout out to Sam, our pool server, was terrific and quick and personable. I think for the money I would look at another hotel. I didn't love my visit. I was expecting more.
No food available from room service , only snacks
