Vansana Nam Ngum resort”
Hotel generally good. Room spacious and comfortable but bathrooms dated. Great pool. Lovey views over river. Staff generally attentive but v e r y sl o w. 15 mins for beer as they had to go and buy. Breakfast acceptable for the price. Lovely surroundings and very peaceful. Some yood points, some not so good but will certainly revisit.
Very relaxing and private. ”
The room is very nice. The staff are very timid especially with the language barrier but don’t give up! They are very friendly and will warm up to them if you are friendly and patient when talking with them. The food if good but more catered to a western crowed so if you want authentic explore the town. The pool was clean and although there were only 2 chairs that’s all you need. We were there for a week and we were the only ones staying at the hotel.
Decided to treat myself to a bit of luxury at the end of my trip through Laos. But no tv.Let alone cable or satellite.Only tv5,BBC and 3 Thai channels anyway. No breakfast the 2nd day,due to absence of kitchen staff.Reception apathetic.
Views by river good and pool fine. Rest not good. Room dated and bathroom not very clean. Beds very basic and not too comfortable. Breakfast not worth having. Eggs - omelette badly cooked, fried slightly better. Half a hot dog. Lao bread - not fresh but heated to improve! Orange juice - diluted from bottle of 10% concentrate. Menu food so so. Delivered to room but plates left outside not collected for 24 hours. I took back myself. Food finished 8.30 and all lights off so no chance even for a drink by river. States mini bar - No. States room phone -No. Tea and coffee seem to be in some rooms but not others. Staff very offish. Would never go that extra mile. Would I go there again? Yes/possibly/ maybe - as there is nowhere else in the area to stay and the river view and pool are good. But expensive for what you get.
Relaxed Setting in the River”
This is the first time visiting this hotel and I will be back. It was quite peaceful and enjoyable eating on the river. For the area, the accommodations were great. The staff very helpful, and the food was actually very good.
Tidy and tranquil with lovely grounds. A bit dated but perfectly adequate for a relaxing stopover to break up a family road trip. Especially enjoyed the restaurant with commanding range river views, though mosquitos this time of year (mid-Jan) were quite plentiful after sunset.
Affordable mini-resort in a quiet corner of the Lao countryside”
The Vansana does everything it needs to by providing a comfortable stay for a very affordable price. The pool is nice, if not small, but the views over the river are splendid.
Too less value for the money”
In the high season the swimmingpool was not available. In the gin/ tonic there was sofa instead of tonic. We sales fish but we good meat without any further explanation
A nice place in a tucked away location. ”
Recommended for all kinds of travelers; they have good food, clean rooms, a nice pool, and an excellent view of sunsets.
I didn't expect to have such a luxurious accommodation in Ban Keun. Friendly staff, awesome breakfast. There is even a proper swimming pool in the resort. Rooms are spacious with river view. Very good.
Nice location and friendly staff”
Nice low budget accommodation that has a great location on the Mekong. Also close to golf course and Nam Nyam dam.
Cheap n near the river”
This is the biggest hotel their. Located near the river and many local restaurant. Good swimming pool. Breakfast is ok.
Lovely hotel old but clean good service family friendly not much to do in a small village far from little town
Exquisite hotel, but shabby.”
It takes an hour-plus and $60 to reach this "resort" from Vientiane. They offer transportation for $100, but it should be free because once you arrive you may find, as I did: 1) Toilet would not flush, no water in tank. Man came to "fix" it, but for the 2 days I had to coax it to work. 2) Toiletries were half-used and shower cap box was empty. 3) Sheet was torn, in fact, I tripped in the hole and fell. 4) Sheets were so rumpled I wonder if they had been changed from the last guest? 5) Minibar had 2 cans of Pepsi and water. 6) The hotel is in need of cleaning, staining and painting. The manager lived there with his family and I was the only guest for one of the days, another guest for the other. I suppose we were considered intruders. 7) There is NO INTERNET AT ALL! I have to say that the manager did take me on the back of his motor bike into the town so I could go to an internet cafe. The pool was really nice, which was a big reason for my choosing this place. HOWEVER, the pool furniture was black with mildew...The vegetation around the pool was nice and someone was often taking care of the yard. Too bad no-one ever serviced my room!
Exquisite river location. Poor maintenance, shabby”
hotel says it has van transportation & it does for $ each way! i took a cab for $rt. they should offer free transport since so little business. pool furniture (white wood) was blackened with mold. everywhere needed cleaning, painting, staining. got the impression that manager's family living there found guests an intrusion.
This is a good family run hotel and a good place to take family. The staff were very helpful and sweet. This is a very quiet place with not much activity - hotel or town-wise. The pool is a great place to hang out. It's right on the river as is the restaurant. The food is good but beware of the red chilies. I don't recommend the green papaya salad. The rooms were clean and comfortable, not five star, but fine.
Very nice place but in a town with little action”
stayed there for 1 night only. because my bike broke on the way there i didn't get there until late. however, the night i stayed there was pleasent indeed. large rooms with tv, fridge a very big balcony.
