In a prime position between the Grand Mosque and the Drum Tower, Xian Wenyuan Hotel is flanked by Xian’s most noteworthy sites. Surrounded by centuries-old architecture, this property occupies one of the most enviable pieces of real estate in Xian - a moment’s walk from the Bell Tower and right beside Muslim Street. Across the road, shuttles from the airport stop regularly and taxis are in plentiful supply for trips to the Terracotta Army or the Wild Goose Pagodas. In contrast to its classic, lantern-adorned facade, accommodation at the Xian Wenyuan Hotel is modern and of an international standard with Western breakfasts, Internet access, and a ticket booking desk. Both a Chinese and a Western restaurant can be found on-site, but with the endless dining opportunities on Muslim Street and downtown Xian right on the doorstep, it would not be considered imprudent to eat out every night.

Xian Wenyuan Hotel
location is superb”
Tvery close to muslim quarter, bell tower, drum tower & metro station..The receptionists don't understand English, not helpful when asked to book taxi to airport
Terrible, Dest Service worst. they ignore customer, I wanted to cancel my room, but they didn't help to cancel. I don't recommend this hotel”
Terrible, Dest Service worst. they ignore customer, I wanted to cancel my room, but they didn't help to cancel. I don't recommend this hotel
great location for muslim traveller”
the hotel is clean and everyday they gave us new towels, slippers, etc. overall value for money and the staff also very helpful eventhough can't speak english. location very close to muslim quarter just a few meters or 2-3 minute walked as well as very close to bell tower, drum tower, shopping complex and metro station. for muslim travellers like us from malaysia, food shouldn't be problem. will stay there if we go to xi'an next time.
Great location, not very clean nor quiet”
The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, location are very close to muslin quarter which is very convenient for dinner. but during my stay, there is some renovation work during midnight, after I feedback to front desk, they stop renovation work after evening, so the following night are ok.
hotel room is normal but location is great”
Poor service and bad manner”
This is the worst hotel i have been stayed. We got room on another building, not main building and it's too far from the entrance. We complaint about this matter and they start change our room to main building... It's wasting time!! Outside room was always noisy.. Staff not polite, and have bad manner.
Pleasant stay at a centrally located hotel in city”
Good pleasant stay. Close to Muslim market for street fair atmosphere.
Bed so hard we slept on the carpet - softer”
Would never go back to here...The two Taxis that we took from the Airport (3 couples)...one got lost and took 2 hrs to then drop us off not at the hotel but close to where he thought it was...luckily our other travellers were looking up and down the streets for us...great start to our stay...we were furious...then we see our rooms....the carpeted floor was softer than the beds so we all put our doona on the filthy carpet tried to sleep.
Great location but the room was too small”
I booked a twin bed room on Business class-$46.00, thought that I would get a little bigger room, probably because I arrived in the hotel at 10 pm, and only stay 1 night.so they gave me a smaller room, and carpet is not clean, hot water was stop when my friend was in the middle of her shower, I am very disappointed.
Location! Location! Location!”
We'd rate this as a 2.5-star - price OK for what you get. The rooms were a bit shabby - possibly could be smartened up a bit - and the air-conditioning didn't work so we just left the window open. The bathroom left a lot to be desired - it was clean but very dilapidated. Also, these are the hardest beds we slept on in our entire China trip ... in fact, in our entire lives!! The lighting was also a bit dull - yellow light rather than bright light. For those of us who are no longer 20 years old, this made reading a bit difficult. Check-in (unless you're walking in across Bell Tower Square) is via back alleys and the rear entrance and car-park of the hotel. We were then shown to our rooms which was a bit strange as this meant we had to leave the hotel (via the rear entrance), cross the carpark and go into another building out the back (buildings No. 2 and 3). I guess the better rooms were in the main building?
Good hotel. Very well located.”
Good hotel in general, although it seemed that the carpet in our room had not been cleaned for years. It had stains all over. Breakfast not so good as it only satisfied chinese customers.
Fantastic location, very helpful staff”
The hotel was easy to find and was very flash in the foyer. Our room was out the back in a more budget building but the room was fine. Clean with lots of hot water. We only booked for 1 night and wanted to extend this to 2 so they kindly let us use the hotel computer to go onto agoda to do this.
great location and service”
would recommend as a low priced hotel, this was across the road from the melody hotel where the airport shuttle goes and easy to find.
Excellent location, outstanding service”
This hotel is in a great location, right between the bell and drum towers in the middle of the old city. It's easy walking distance to shops, restuarants, street food and the muslim quarter markets. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful. We arrived after an overnight train from Beijing and were met by a very helpful woman who spoke good English. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you're Chinese isn't great (like ours). The room was also excellent, the bed was large and comfortable, and the bathroom good as well. The carpets were a bit dirty but it didn't affect my allergies. Internet is lan only, they supplied a cable in the room. We loved this hotel, it was great value for money and close to everything we needed. Would definitely stay there again if we're in Xi'an.
great hotel great people, great location, great room”
the staff did everything for us and was very friendly.when we had to leave they carried our bags over the road to get a taxi for us.the rooms were always clearned.breakfast could be a bit more for western food .we had a great time .
Great location, but a/c issues”
this older style, reasonably priced hotel is very popular because it is right in the heart of xian. a cash deposit is requested instead of a credit card as room security. towels and linen are wearing a little thin, but breakfast was great and shopping, restaurants and many attractions are within walking distance. rooms are small but functional. except for the a/c in our room. while hotel staff responded twice by checking on our complaint, it was late (and we were unpacked) when they offered us another room.
Nice large rooms”
only stayed a couple nights, but what we wanted to see was all right there. the drum tower, next door, the bell tower also close as well as the muslin shopping/eating streets. only things i didn't like was that the room carpeting was quite dirty and the bathroom plumbing had a bit of a smell, but all in all still glad we stayed there.
Great location but small rooms”
Great location, next to MacDonald, across the street from Airport Bus stop. Didn't expect to get room without window. But it was a bad time to travel in China when all hotels are more or less booked out.
Great value in a great location”
It took us a bit of effort to find the hotel but once we did - what a treat! Right between the Bell and Drum Towers, you would expect it to be noisy during the Oct 1 holiday, but it was quiet and very clean. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom well appointed. There was no need for the air conditioning as the windows opened to a wonderful breeze. Would definitely stay there again being so close to the airport shuttle, sites and metro station.
i do not recommend it. it´s is disgusting.”
Hotel well located with good facilities but very dirty. The carpet was full of hair. We did not dare to take a shower. I do not recommend it, it's disgusting. In addition, the hotel staff do not speak English and were not useful.
