It's only gotten dirtier and seedier...”
location, price
I see that I wrote a review last year, and I should have taken my own advice. Last year, there was one domestic violence incident. This year, there were two times I told the staff about the constant shouting at, physical punishment and crying of a little girl by her exhausted parents (an hour at night and nearly the same in the morning). Of course, there are significant cultural differences, and even by these standards, it seemed excessive. Another two days/nights, a couple shouted and slammed doors. Then I learned how many Chinese places clean floors. The maids put an old mop in the toilet to "clean" it (any cleanser?), then they use the toilet water to "clean" the floor on their way out. I've become a germaphobe several years, so I bought cleanser, rubber gloves, and so forth to clean the place myself. There was the same problem of having to ask for sheets, towels, and even toilet paper (I tend to sleep late and I work on my computer in the morning--that was the best time to access wireless. That didn't make the maids happy, which is understandable). There are other modest places nearby China Foreign Affairs University! Do not stay here.

Tiny room for the cost”
closeness to China Foreign Affairs University, friendly hotel manager
No photo of this room was provided to Agoda, and the clear reason is that it is one of the tiniest rooms I've seen (beyond the bed pods available in Japan). There was only one foot of space and a glass wall that separated the twin bed from the toilet/shower and bathroom. The "window" is into the hallway. Actually, I didn't mind it much--just was surprised that the price was so high for the accommodations (although real estate prices have been skyrocketing in Beijing this year). My concerns about the Ao Xiang Ge Guesthouse are in different areas. For one, other than the friendly hotel manager (whose English is pretty good), the rest of the staff were indifferent at best. During my ten-day stay, I also noticed that my sheets were not being cleaned at all. I only expect sheets to be changed every 3-4 days (my gesture toward being eco-friendly), and so I finally spoke up halfway through my stay. Otherwise, the hotel seemed seedy in general.

Cheap Room Near the Trains”
Location
Large vents in the wall make sure you know when your neighbour is smoking . . . or doing anything else but it's cheap and close to the train lines and there is a nice little restaurant on the corner.

easy to locate”
easy to locate, 5-10 mins bus ride from beijing zoo
The hotel is easy to locate. There are lots of buses that you can ride from Beijing Zoo. I didnt like the bath room, quite dirty. The beds are decent. It is just an ordinary hotel, nothing special. You get what you pay for, since this hotel is cheaper than its neighbors.

A Budget Hotel with Strategic Location”
Strategic Location
The hotel's location is very strategic with public bus stop just in front of the Hotel. In one way / no need changing to another bus, we can directly go to Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace, etc. The front officer is very kind and can speak english fluently. The hotel'price is quite reasonable, that I will recommend to anyone who want to travel with limited budget.

Cheap price, good facilitty, free wifi and mineral water.
I was there for a bussiness trip, at first day of arrival we have some difficulties for finding this hotel. it's not because of it's position but because our lack of chinese mandarin language. after we make a few phone call and walking we were able to arive there, this once is a nice hotel, spacious bedroom and clean batchroom. really worth your money

pleasant stay”
spacious and clean room, superclean restroom, 3 minutes by bus to nearest subway station
breakfast not included
the room was very spacious with 2 beds, a/c, tv, relatively calm and quiet location, no views from windows though (my window was heading into a tiny dead end street), the personal spoke english (eventhough far from fluent) and was very helpful, nearest subway 20 minutes of quite pleasant walk or 3 minutes by bus (bus stop is just over the street)

Cheap, convenient Hotel ”
Cheap A/C Clean Internet
No elevator
The hotel was nice and definitely worth the price. It was a little hard to find for my taxi driver, so be sure to write some cross streets / subway stops. The area has some major hotels surrounding it, so it becomes a real bargain dealer if you're going there. It is about a 20-30 minute walk to the subway station, so be prepared. I usually just take a taxi around anyways. Overall-it's a great deal!

Nice hotel”
Good location, clean room, helpful staff.
No refrigerator, hair-dryer, microwave in Standard room.
Very good hotel for such small price. Location is very convenient, it is near the city center (5 km from Tian-An-Men) and 1 km from subway station, also Beijing Zoo and Beijing North railway station are within walking distance. There was always at least one English-speaking girl on the reception. Standard room was small but clean and with a good double bed. There is no food in the hotel, but there is a good restaurant close to it.

Great Place for Budget Travel”
English speaking, super friendly and helpful staff; great location, comfortable amenities, awesome price.
A little far from the subway.
The hotel was easy to find, located in a great area near convenient bus lines - though the nearest subways station is a good 30 minute walk. The staff were incredibly friendly and one girl spoke English fluently, and they both helped me find what I was looking for in Beijing. The room was a little small, but it's not a resort - a place to leave your bags and sleep, but who wouldn't want to be out and about in Beijing? I give this place two thumbs up!

Wonderful Hotel Accomodations”
Clean, friendly, helpful, close to transportation.
No restaurant in hotel
This was a great hotel. It was clean, very customer service oriented, inexpensive, centrally located, and it has complete internet services. Plus public transportation was very convenient. The staff were all exceptionally pleasant and helpful, especially the young lady named "Betty" Wang Bei Bei #019, who spoke English and provided us with maps and directions written in English.. Although there was no restaurant in the hotel; there were several close by. I would highly recommend this hotel for budget minded travelers! Roses to all of the staff!! Kachina Riley
