Bontoc is a very serene place, full of interesting and nature adventures and the best place to de-stress yourself.
People are very accommodating, courteous, respectful, helpful, and kind. This is also the best place to burn out your stored energy by trekking. If you are a nature lover, this is the best place for you. Thick and rick in culture and history.
Most of the time its a transit town for Kalinga, Banaue, Sagada or towns in Halsema. Don't expect much in terms of accommodation as it can be spartan.
There area a few nice eating places in the area. Two banks with ATM and cellular coverage with internet is strong in the area. A good place to stock up on supplies and cash.
Bontoc is the main city of Mountain Province, this is an undeveloped area and perfect for finding out about the Cordilleras region of Luzon on a budget, or if you wish to avoid tourist hot-spots.
The museum has many interesting exhibits and a very reasonably-priced souvenir shop, and the market is fascinating. Getting to Bontoc requires a slow bus journey whichever way you travel, but there are rice terraces, mountains and rivers all around, and caves and hot springs nearby. The people are very friendly and most speak at least some English. You can eat a hearty meal for a few dollars equivalent, and buy reasonably-priced weaving, leatherwork and wood carvings
