A quite, small town on the Rhine, ideal for 1-2 days to relax and potter around, with a few points of interest.
A ride on the sesselbahn (chair lift) is definitely worth a trip for the views, with a nice cafe/restaurant at the top.
We wanted to do a Rhine River valley cruise so our options were Boppard, St. Goar, Oberwesel and Bacharach.
We were glad we chose Boppard because it is a bit bigger than most other villages. Also, it is up north, so we could take the train south to other villages (upstream of the river) and on our way back, we could take the cruise north (downstream of the river). The cruise is a bit pricey but definitely worth a shot. We really had a good time visiting the villages and enjoying the food and wine. We only wished that weather was a bit more cooperative i.e hotter.
