Traveler impressions of Haikou

More about Haikou

Hainan Province is China’s southernmost point, an island known for its tropical climate and beach resorts. Haikou serves as the capital of this province from its location on the northern shores. The city offers a laidback atmosphere and is known as Coconut City due to the coconut trees lining the streets. Haikou Meilan International Airport ushers in travelers, and there are a number of alternative transportation options as this city is a hub with railway stations, ships, and expressway links.

Haikou attractions are derived from the geography and history of the land. Holiday Beach is the most popular of the sandy shores and boasts aquatic sports, beach sports, and tourist attractions. Shimei Bay has six kilometers of white sand beach, and Jiajing Island is where the culture of the Li People can be explored and where divers can view colorful coral. Dongjiao Coconut Plant and Dongzhai Harbor Mangrove Natural Reserve Area are two more popular outdoor attractions worthy of a visit. In terms of historical sites, there is the Temple of the Five Lords and the Tomb of Hai Rui, an official from the Ming Dynasty. Within the city are a number of parks and zoos, including the People’s Park, Binhai Park, and Tropical Safari Park.
