Best hotels & accommodations in Knysna

We stayed at the Abalone Lodges one night. My wife and I in one cabin and our daughter and her husband in the another. Clean, quiet, picturesque, AC, accommodating staff. A little off the beaten path, but well worth a few minutes away from the busy center of Knysna. We would recommend this to anyone passing through and needing a place to stay in that area.

We were in Turbine Hotel during 2 days of our Honeymoon. The hotel has a nice situation in Thesen Islands (Knysna), close to sea, shops and restaurant. The structure is original. We booked a suite and specified that we were on honeymoon. We got a room which was called a suite with view on the swimming pool but it looked so small... Furthermore, the restaurant is nic...

Our stay was a treat from start to finish. The location, over looking the Knysna lagoon, is both convenient and yet tucked away from the main city bustle. What a beautiful place to stay! The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were spotless and the views breathtaking. This is one of the best places that I have stayed in a while and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Knysna.

Had a very enjoyable stay. Thde hotel was very clean and comfortable. The room was immaculate and well decorated and well stocked. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. We had our breakfast in our own balcony overlooking the Knysna lagoon. It was a superb experience for us. We strongly recommend this hotel.

47th on Howard is located in quiet area away from traffic. It's about 10-15 minute drive from Knysna waterfront. The property itself is very lovely. Our room was beautiful, airy, and filled with sunlight. The staff are friendly, polite, and helpful. Will visit again and recommend to friends if they are in Knysna.

We stopped in Pumula Lodge for 2 night to tour the area. The owner was very helpful and informative about what to do in the area. The B&B is the best one we had on our trip in South Africa and closest to a good hotel room. The breakfast was very good. We really enjoyed our stay in this Lodge.

the stay was very nice. My wife and I stayed here on the last night of our 2 week South Africa trip. It was a great way to wind down our trip. Our room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly, and they gave us some great advice on shops to pick up some african art. At the end of the day, the views are really spectacular. The B&B is probably at the highest ...

We stated only one day, but we loved the place and the loft room with excellent views over the bay. We were the only guests on our first night a d got a free upgrade to the honeymoon suite. This has the amazing view on the lagoon and a huge bathroon. Rijk and James were very friendly hosts and gave us great advice on what to do in Knysna. Also breakfast was very good, no compromises eventhough we were the only guests.

We were a last minute booking for the Knysna festival. We were very happy with our stay and the hotel was clean, neat and well maintained. Our room was a quite cold (south side of the building) It was a bit strange that each room has catering facilities, but there was no cutlery or crockery. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Absolutely fantastic! I couldn't speak any more highly of this chalet. Fantastic hard working customer service, beautiful scenery - such a great location. Will definitely be staying again the next time I'm in Knysna, and will be recommending to anyone heading to Knysna. Keep up the great work!

The hotel is hidden away in the banks of the western head on a private residential estate. There is a pub and restaurant on site, another bistrot nearby and Knysna waterfront and other eating places are a 5-15 minute drive away. It suited us to have the privacy of a lodge sleeping up to 6 but to have the amazing views and pool and hostelries on site. We didn't mind a d...

I loved this place. It's in a modest part of town vs. the swanky tourist area, but the hotel and room were spotless and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. The included breakfast was delicious. Best value for the money of any hotel I can remember staying in.

From the moment we arrived I knew this would be a lovely place to stay. Ines and Andreas are such wonderful hosts and so friendly and helpful. I would recommend this accommodation without hestiation. There are so many small touches that made it just so lovely. Ines and Andreas go way above and beyond what I would expect of Bed and Breakfast owners. If you are intending...

The guest house is really well decorated. From the pool / garden to the interior design of each rooms / suites. Owners are really friendly. Best thing is that we can have our breakfast in room, and breakfast which prepared was really delicious. I would definitely return to this Villa when i go back to Knysna in the future.

The apartment was clean and tastefully decorated. Checking in and out was very easy. We were conveniently situated close to the waterfront, so we didn’t need to drive to the shops or to go out for dinner! We will definitely be back when we next visit Knysna.

We (2 friends from Germany) stayed in Panorama Lodge originally for one night in Nov 2015, but already upon arrival we decided to stay one more night. The house is located on top of the hill (steep driveway!) with a fantastic view from the breakfast terrace. The architecture of the house itself alone is fantastic, too! So we took two days to explore Knysna and its surr...

The Brenton Beach House ist very beautifully arranged. It allows for a nice view onto the coast and the sea. It's only 10 Minutes from Knysna by car. 10 short minutes, as you have a fantastic view on the Knysna Lagoon from the road. Ask Derrick for recommendations. He knows the best restaurants und places around Knysna! People are very friendly in the Brenton Beach Ho...

It has the most amazing views over the Knysna pier and its within walking distance to real good food. Its up 3 flights of stairs (without an elevator) so i dont recommend it to anyone with knee or mobility issues. Otherwise really clean and a great place to stay in Knysna!

Chris & Jenny were very nice hosts who are very passionate about sharing a peice of Paradise (Knysna) with the guests. Jenny accompanied us throughout the time we had breakfast and shared with us the stories and history of Knysna and even their own! The guesthouse has unblocked view of the lagoon especially from the dinning area. Definitely a must for a scenic view of ...

Honestly, this was such a surprise find. What an absolutely gorgeous property. The gardens and forest walk are just divine. The room was warm, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The kitchen had everything we could need. The owner kindly shared butter with us to enjoy with our bread and wine. I will definitely stay here again and we have recommended it to every...

Room was clean and functional. Confortable beds. Friendly couple who run this place welcomed is and gave us a pack of useful information/map. Great view from our room over the Knysna lagoon and Knysna Heads. Didn't really use the balcony - they're small, semi-private, but small/basic. There is NO WIRELESS INTERNET anywhere on the property. Mr Johan has a brilliant sense of humour, and is a very friendly host and is well informed. Mr Johan is very helpful in exploring all the jewels of Knysna. The breakfast was well prepared and tasty. I'd recommend anyone to reside at Lagoon Lodge for the great hospitality and lovely views from the room.

From the momen we arrived, we were treated amazingly by the owners who were accommodating and generous. The room was comfortable, well decorated, very clean and homely. Knysna Manor House is excellently located in a quiet street running parallel and at short distance to Main Road. The various rooms and public areas are furnished and decorated in old Victorian style. The rooms are spacious. There is, however, no elevator to reach the second floor. Wi-Fi is available in public areas but not in the rooms. We were welcomed by the owner,...

We stayed here for 4 nights with our 2 small children and could not have been made to feel more welcome. The family room had all the 'extras' that make such a difference when travelling with kids such as a microwave and fridge. The terraced garden contains a decent size pool and it leads down to the secure parking area. Lidy was always sure to ask if we had all we that...

Pros: Good location Easy check-in and check-out Very good value for money Nice view of lagoon Owner was very helpful and knowledgeable towards travellers Car parking & private access were included Cons: Blackout blinds would make sleeping easier with the outdoor garden lights One hot plate was provided for cooking which was not ideal A microwave with a grill & o...

The guest house is located in a nice neighbouring on the hill, 5 minutes by car from the centre of Knysna. The owner is a retired lady, very helpful and kind, adiuvated by a nice man for staff. The guest house has 3 big rooms surrounded by a lush garden, with terraces overlooking the lagoon. The room we stayed is not really renewed, but well kept and furnished with eve...

I was greeted at the gate upon arrival and immediately showed to my room (The Chrysler Room!), which was in a separate part of the hotel complex (apparently there's both a budget and a more "upscale" wing?). We were taken aback at first with the casual interaction with us as visitors, but it was not in a negative way at all. There was a small hiccup with our room, wich was resolved quickly. Overall we had a splendid stay and would really recommend it to anyone that loves and informal setting with exceptional amenities.

Lovely guesthouse sitting on the hill over looking the bay. Large garden on grounds and well protected at night with gated car park and beams. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful and host was very friendly and helpful with recommendations on the local area.

We stayed 2 nights and we could not have been made to feel more welcome by Tess and her staff. Tess is full of knowledge about the local area and will advise of great places to go depending on your needs. We have stayed at many 4-5 star hotels around the world and this is very good value for money with a great breakfast included! Would definitely go back!

Our stay was comfortable and the temperature inside was good. We made use of the kitchen and appreciated having our breakfast dishes washed by the cleaning lady. The TV and Wi-Fi was also appreciated. The map of Knysna and the brochures in the file were helpful. The beach at Brenton on Sea was the highlight of our stay. We went in winter when it was too cold to swim, b...

We stayed 4 nights at The Lookout and had the place to ourselves for the whole time which was great. Meal vouchers were given to use at local restaurants at anytime not just breakfa...

This is the perfect place to stop over while traveling along the beautiful Garden Route. I am a well travelled person, but there are very very few places that could match Waterfront lodge in the World, let alone South Africa, for its welcome, tidiness, location and breakfast.i would not hesitate in recommending this property to anyone visiting the area, and would hope to return myself someday soon. Thank you, thank you, thank you........

After a very stressful few days which involved a break in at our previous accommodation we arrived at Knysna Country House a little frazzled. We went to Knysna for the forest marathon and stayed at the Hollow for three nights. The room was very comfortable, with large bathroom with his and hers basins and shower. The best was the fireplace to crackle away on a cold evening. Only downside was no decent tv channels in the rooms only dstv in the bar area. Will stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay a lot, beautiful and spacious rooms, great location with stunning views over Knysna, secure car parking, delicious breakfast in the mornings and the owner was very nice and welcoming. Fantastic stay overall! The bathrooms don’t have doors which is the only small suggestion for improvement.

Even though it was a self-catering apartment, house keeping came every day to clean our room. The apartment we had was huge (two stories), nicely furnished, so we felt very comfortable and enjoyed our four days in Knysna in a very quiet environment. The next door bakery is great and there are lots of restaurants nearby - or you can sty in your apartment and cook for yo...

knysna stays is definitely a good place to stay at while you're in knysna. it's located in a quiet street but it's still near the city center. the staff takes their job really serious and try all they can to make your stay unforgettable. go there and you'll notice yourself. upon arrival, we got a free upgrade to a better room with view on the lagoon (on agoda i was n...

Must commend the staff for their friendliness and willingness to help. The chalet was beautiful, clean and cozy. If you're staying on the ground floor, it can become a little bit noisy from people walking in the top chalet. Swimming pool which was free to use was the perfect temperature and hardly ever packed. Jacuzzi was great although we had to pay for this.

The cottage is a comfy place to stay and easy self cater. Added bonus if you are going through this winter in Knysna as currently on a Friday night you can join the "long table" foodie night run by the owner and his wife who previously had a restaurant in Cape Town. Fantastic experience for locals and internationals passing through like ourselves. We spent 2 nights at ...

It was an unforgettable experience. If we visit South Africa next time ,we will back there definitely . It was beautiful that when you wake up, fabulous breakfast is waiting you. We loved this hotel. Pure luxury and comfort. The only thing is the suite says it has a kitchenette but it's not what I would call a kitchenette. It is just a sink and a kettle/coffee machine. No microwave or toaster or anything like that - so it's not really a kitchenette in my opinion. The restaurants could do with more (and much better) vegetarian options. Otherwise...

I had great stay at the hotel. I had plans to drive around and do some sight seeing but decided instead to stay at the hotel and just enjoy the view. The bar had a great wine selection and Martin the owner suggested a fine wine from his friends vineyard. After going through a lot of research, I finally decided to stay at this property for two nights on my anniversary trip to Knysna, South africa. I made a mistake in booking, and the host still honored it, thank you for that! The room and the hotel is gorgeous. Minibar is free! With a car, you can get to many good restaurants nearby. I would suggest not charging sparkling water for breakfast, or at least letting the guests know in advance. All in all, this is a great boutique hotel, would recommend.
Traveler impressions of Knysna
Visit the Heads.A boat ride on the Heads.Have Knysna oysters .Explore the many lakes and rivers and beaches in the surrounding areas.
Perfect holiday place near a marvelous lagoon. Wide choice of accommodation. Plenty of excellent seafood restaurants, great wines and micro brewery.
We didn't spend too much time. Just like a transit. But the place is quiet and very good for relaxing.
For a first time visitor Knysna has a lot of lovely areas to explore. For a returning visitor, there rae always the favourites.
Quiet city with friendly people not a large place but there are plenty of things to find to do. Great pick of restaurants and a few places to do local shopping.
Have local currency or credit cards handy. Visit Plettenberg bay, Kango Caves in Oudtshoorn, The water front
Nice scenery - e.g. The Heads, Thesen Island has got wonderful restaurants - oysters available at most restaurants - not far from Plettenberg Bay, Wilderness & George
A beautiful setting with the lagoon opening out to The Heads then on to the Indian Ocean. Take a boat trip around the lagoon and visit the Featherbed Park, reached by boat to get some fab views.
not much to say as we spent 1 night in knysna as we were doing the garden route and this was our first stop.

I really satisfied with their services!! They do really consider and care about their guests. Their garden was beautiful, they situated in N2 just before Knysna town. I was very impressed when I forgot my belongings there they kindly sent my stuff through postnet. If I visit Knysna again I would love to stay here again.

Lovely guesthouse sitting on the hill over looking the bay. Large garden on grounds and well protected at night with gated car park and beams. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful and host was very friendly and helpful with recommendations on the local area.

Must commend the staff for their friendliness and willingness to help. The chalet was beautiful, clean and cozy. Jacuzzi was great although we had to pay for this.
