I have been comming here for quite a while now and I love it, with all the trouble reported on the news,(mostly in Cairo which is a long way from Luxor) and no tour companies comming, there is still a handfull of tourists here, I have never felt safer, there is army and police everywhere, the local people need tourists back.
There is so much culture / history here to see. All the local people are so friendly and there is really nice hotels to choose from. I'll be back very soon.
Summer is not the best season for sightseeing at the stand point of temperature. But the number of sightseener is reduced and we cannot find any line for the heritages.
A wonderful city full of ancient ruins and arab arquitecture. The real problem are molesters that do not allow you to walk or to stop at a place.
Better to go through an organized group.
The city is much cleaner than Cairo!! Great location close to all the most famous and important sightseeing historical sites.
Local people a bit pushy offering their services and good for sale but it is "normal" everywhere in Egypt.
learn to take the local bus it cheaper and they dont try to rip you off! its .50 cents Egyptian. transfer once pay another .
50cents,. get to Karnack, train/Bus station for 1 pound/pp
Luxor is the place you should visit if you go to Egypt. The Karnak temple, Luxor temple, the museums, the river, the tombs.
.. are very worth visiting. Food is the best in the country, restaurants are good and cheap, hotel is nice, sugarcane juice is too much tasty!
The nile area is nice, but as a tourist you easily attract salesmen on the street. This can be a bit annoying sometimes.
