Ohrid is an undeniably beautiful spot in Macedonia. Don't expect a beach holiday though as the beaches are mostly rocky and small.
There is plenty to see and do around the small town: walk around the old town, go see the fortress, take a boat trip to Sveti Nam, rent a bike and cycle to neighbouring town Struga. There are plenty of hiking opportunities too. I was a bit disappointed with the restaurants of Ohrid - many of them had almost identical menus and the food was mediocre. The locals are very friendly and the service was good everywhere.
The most attracting city of Macedonia with a great lake to see. Clean air, relaxing, historical places, bazaars for shopping, boat trips to the lake
the Ohrid city is devided in two parts the Old that is the historic one and the new. the old is intresting
Walking through the old town aimlessly will reward you with beautiful sights, vistas and photo ops. Enjoy!
We visited Ohrid on the trip through Balkans and were absolutely sad, that we planned there only 1 night.
After that we were heading to Skopje, so decided to take later afternoon bus to enjoy Ohrid a bit more. It is extremely cozy place and also very interesting from historical point of view. I was a bit sad, that I did not read enough about it before arrival. I think one can easily spend 3-4 days here. One day to visit old churches, fortress and relax at the beach, one day you need to visit St Naum monastery and one day maybe kayaking on the lake with wonderful views, also hiking in the mountains are possible. Food was very tasty and rather cheap. Also we enjoyed live band and dancing in Jazz bar on the main square. So you have here everything indeed, even though the place is very small.
