Songkhla was known as Singgora. The ancient city of Malay Empire. There are still lots of Malay Muslim population around.
Most of them spreads along Samila beach, operating their own dining places with nice environment.
THe songkhla zoo is a bit run down but our kids having good time there feeding those poor animals. the night market and morning market are interesting.
the slow pace way of life really make you feel more relaxing then Hatyai which is more fast paced.
Dannok is a small town in songkhla near by malaysia custom. Here is the nightlife and men heaven of alot gal's escort.
..etc. ..you will see a lot streets selling fried chicken.
It is a relatively big city with very much thai oriented nature. It offers good thai food at a reasonable price.
It has fantastic beaches. The people there are very friendly.
Songkhla the second or third largest city in Thailand. Located in South Thailand. People very friendly make u want to stay here and be one of them.
Lots of shopping place here, lots of historic place to visit also lots of entertainment here.
The city contains everything that a tourist would require with good medical facilities, shopping, restaurants and sight seeing.
Transportation is not a problem, and Songkhla is not far from Hat Yai International airport.
The food was all over the place, beaches are nice, nightlife is superb. Taxi and motor rent is easy to reach out.
The food was all over the place, beaches are nice, nightlife is superb. Should tyy the Somtam (papaya salad)
Not much going on here for non-locals. People are friendly enough, and if you enjoy local Thai food, plenty of it.
However, I would not recommend a family vacation here. Not much to do for Westerners, Western food being in very short supply. Very difficult to get around.
It is a nice city with little of farangs, which makes Thai look at you like at the seventh wonder of the world.
That keeps making that place attractive from cultural point of view, as you can enjoy viewing the Thai life style from very close. Nice variety of local food!
Songkhla is very wonderful town and beautiful culture and people there. It's used to be the most famous town of souther of thailand.
However at present, it's still nice and very interesting to visit especially people who love peaceful, nature and relax.
Songkhla is a quiet city inbetween a lake and the ocean. If you are looking for peace and quiet ~ this is the place to go.
We stayed at the Green World Palace and were impressed with the hotel. Super large clean rooms and bathrooms. They also have a spa that gives the best massages ever! There is a seafood restaurant on the lake that has the BEST sweet and sour shrimp we have ever eaten! (and I grew up on seafood so I know what I am talking about!) And grilled roe squid to die for! This is the first large restaurant on the left when you cross the bridge from Songkhla to the lakeside. Nice quiet beaches.
You can find great local food in Songkhla if you know the way around town. There's practically no nightlife in town.
Its a very small beach city with a few attrations like the Mermaid and the Monument by the beach. Other than these, the seafood restaurant at Ko Yo Island is another seafood outlet besides Nai Wan Restaurant.
You can see all the attrations within one day.
Very nice and clean city Known as the academic centre of Southern Thailand Hospitable and friendly people Lots of places to visit and admire the historical elements
It's a good place to get away from typical city like Hat Yai. However, you will be losing all the great shopping, night life and various kind of good foods.
Actually Songkhla is not that bad either in term of food, but you will only find good typical thai cuisine. The beach is nothing much to shout about. But it still the nearest beach you can find to Hat Yai. If you're making a trip to Hat Yai for more than 2 nights, don't hestitate to spend a night in Songkhla for something different.
Songkhla is place to unwind and relax because of its location surrounded by the sea on both sides. Tang Kuan Hill is a great place to get a clear view of Songkhla town.
All places of interest are within a short driving distance. Food is easily available. It is a great place to be with family and friends. Seaside resorts such as BP Samila Resort Hotel and Rajamangala Beach Resort is a nice place for people who have the budget and are looking for better facilities such as in house restaurants, coffee house and swimming pool.
Songkla is a proud provincial City that is pleasently located between the Southchina sea and the Thale sap lake its breezy and clean layout of the city is easy to venture on foot, bike or car, slow pace and people are generally helpful and safe to explore the place without fear of crimes
