Best hotels & accommodations in Thornybush Game Reserve

We were free to go to a game lodge on short notice. We were able to get a room here at the Waterside Lodge. We were greeted on arrival and taken to our room very quickly. All the game drives were wonderful. Food was very good. All of the other people working at the lodge were wonderful.

So the rooms are lovely and the food is good. The clawfoot tubs are great, and the water HOT! The site is quite romantic on the pond all lit up. My daughter thought it would be perfect for a wedding group. It's very simple yet lovely. So it is our first time to the area. My daughter thought it would be perfect for a wedding group. It's very simple yet lovely. So it is our first time to the area. The game drive that was booked was very reasonable, but it was to a private game reserve, adjacent to Kruger, and unfortunately, we didn't see much. Would have been better to just go to Kruger, on way in or out, which we did later that day. The animals were everywhere.!

It was the only accomodation we could affort around Hoedspruit and it's well worth it's price! We had a friendly reception of the hostes, bought some wood and had a great braai at our cool Safari tent and a shower under the stars. What could anyone ever want more?!

We stayed 5 nights at this Lodge, but it was a little disappointment. Despite this lodge has a large lawn and area for itself, there isn't a long pool available in common area but only a dip pool in the room. Lack of open area to sit around to enjoy but have to stay in your tent if not going our for outdoor activities. No food can be ordered, no snacks are available ...

No food can be ordered, no snacks are available for sale even if you want to pay for it. I feel it is not well considered for guests who preferred not going out for game drive etc..but to stay at the Lodge. There is absolutely nothing outside of the Lodge, and management should consider to have the restuarant opens for snacks or hot dishes. There is one thing I could not understand is to have the flush toilet in the open space without any partition or door. We just couldn't find this layout attaractive at all.
