Stone Town,Zanzibar - View on map
"My wife and I flew into Zanzibar and spent our first 3 days in Stone Town The first night Tembo put us in the Tembo Apartments which is in a separate building across the street without a view of the Zanzibar Channel. The desk manager promised to move us and the next 2 nights we were in Room 026 which was a fantastic corner suite with balcony overlooking the Channel. Tembo is short walk to old Fort and Wonder House Boats to Prison Island tortoise sanctuary leave from in front of the hotel No alcohol at Hotel restaurant but there are other venues literally next door Hyatt Hotel is next door as well Book Tembo water view and you will be pleased"

The Seyyida Hotel and Spa
Stone Town,Zanzibar - View on map
"Im very glad I discovered this little gem. Stone town has no shortage of charming boutique properties, but the Seyyida was special. Its nestled away near the ferry port and surrounded by interesting ancient fortress-like buildings. It is a bit away from all the tourist shops and touts. When you step out of the hotel front door, you are right in the middle of authentic stone town life. However, the tourists stuff is a short 5 min walk away. The sea-port view view from the roof top restaurant and lounge is great. Breakfast is generous and varied, and the lunch/dinner menu is a bit more sophisticated then other Stone town eateries. Very nice quality food! Do pay a little more and book a seaview terrace room; the others only look out upon a wall. The rooms are so comfortable! The décor is a pleasing mix of traditional east African furnishings mixed with modern, trendy upholstery and touches. The king bed was great, romantic surrounded by mozzie netting. The Air con worked well. there is wifi, but not so good in the rooms. Reception is better up in the restaurant. My only issue was that my room was below the restaurant and they start the breakfast set up at 6 am, so it was very noisy; I wanted to sleep in and enjoy the bed, but each morning I was awoken by the noise upstairs. Unfortunately the spa wasn't functioning while I was there, but you could book an in room massage if you wanted it. There is a small garden courtyard located at the back of the property. I enjoyed my stay, loved the location, and will stay here when next in Zanzibar."

"Our family of 4 got upgraded to a 3 bedroom garden suite villa. It's incredible! Almost 200 Sq meters. We are so happy the way the exceptional staff has served us. The dinner out on the Jedy is magical. The Infinity pool views are stunning. The beautiful grounds are spacious with many peaceful places to hide away in solitude. 5 stars! "

Spice Palace Hotel
Stone Town,Zanzibar - View on map
"A wonderful place. Everything we needed. The first walk up to the entrance is a bit scary and you nearly feel like running away. But, once you here, you forget all about the dark alleyway and realize it’s all of Stonetown that is designed in these narrow streets and nothing to fear. Obviously being foreign, we keep our valuables safe and tight. It is tru that the locals are not used to seeing a lot of skin on ladies, so covered up with a scarf over my shoulders when walking around. Hotel is super cool, would definitely stay again."

Mizingani Seafront Hotel
Stone Town,Zanzibar - View on map
"Rooms: My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. We initially got the ground floor room which was already good but we got upgraded to the seaview room Siti Bint Saad- one of the best rooms in the hotel! And it was amazing! Bigger than our room, with balcony overlooking the turquoise waters.. Breakfast- we love that there are always new dishes, especially the savory ones. There is also a wide selection of pastries.. It was not tiresome menu! Egg omelette station is also there.. fresh fruits, cereals... and the view from breakfast conplements the atmosphere Amenities- we liked the pool as well! Deepest end at 3meters and the area is quiet and hidden. There are ornate beds and chairs to relax in Interior- since the building has been existing since the 1800s, it is a perfect mix of old and new. We eapecially liked the wooden staircases, balconies and the doors! It is really very beautiful! Location- can’t complain.. convenient by taxi, close to restaurants historical spots!"

Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort - All Inclusive
Nungwi,Zanzibar - View on map
"We stayed at the Royal Zanzibar just before Christmas and loved every minute of our stay there. From the friendly staff at check in upgrading our room and allowing us to check in early, to the kind and attentive restaurant and bar team, the staff made our stay comfortable and enjoyable, taking care of our every need. The food was wonderful at every meal, and the location is incredible with direct access to the gorgeous white sands of nungwi beach and incredible views, especially at sunset. The room was spectacular and immaculate, and the pools were clean, warm and beautiful. The swim up bar was a particular highlight of the stay. Next door, a few minutes walk away, is a bar that hosts parties on Mondays and wednesday, where we had a great time, buy the entertainment and bars in the hotel are more than enough on their own. I would highly recommend this hotel,.and Nungwi beach, to anyone visiting Zanzibar. "

Kisiwa House
Stone Town,Zanzibar - View on map
"My wife and I stayed for one night at the beginning of our time in Zanzibar. We arrived at 10am, but we were able to check into our room immediately (it was late June, so not peak season). Our room was quite large and comfortable; the bathroom was very large with dual sinks and a bathtub/shower. The common areas of the hotel are nicely decorated and really give the place a "house" atmosphere. We had two breakfasts and one dinner on the rooftop patio which has a great view of Stone Town and the ocean. The fresh fruit and seafood were the highlights of our meals here (and everywhere else in Zanzibar for that matter). While not the cheapest in Stone Town, we feel Kisiwa House is good value and is comfortable without being extravagant. A note for those planning to walk around Stone Town on their own: a compass would be extremely helpful! There are very few street signs, and none of the roads are straight, so it can be a bit bewildering. Fortunately, Stone Town itself is very small so if you get lost it's not a big deal. "
