Initial suite was unavailable, so they tried to downgrade my friend and I. Then they tried to move us into one suite. Both times not offering any refund or discount. One room ended up having very wet carpet and smelt terrible. So many things within the rooms not working. Every order of food took a really long time and was poor quality. Staff didn't take responsibility for any of the issues. The worst place I've stayed in a long time. There are many better options that are also cheaper in the area. Avoid at all costs. (Location is decent)

Jupiter is an excellent option, close to shopping, restaurants and the airport. Rooms are nice, with modern furnishings, and breakfast is quite good. What really makes the hotel special is the high level of attention and courtesy from the staff. The front desk staff make every effort to help, including arranging transport or providing for the hotel shuttle to pick up items for shopping. During my stay, Kidist in particular was a fantastic advisor on the area, and arranged for purchase of local foods. She also arranged for the hotel to pick me up from the airport when my departure flight was delayed - that allowed me to stay in the comfort of the hotel and have a decent meal, rather than wait at the airport. Note that there is no gym on site, but the hotel provides complimentary vouchers for a professional gym close by. Overall, an excellent option in Addis.

The positives first: good infrastructure (building, rooms, backup generator) and fairly good location, quired. But. Bad management. Bad experience from pickup at the airport to checkout. Airport transfer - advised driver would wait inside the terminal - no he didn't. Website advises buffet breakfats and free wifi. Day 1 no no buffet - advised this is only done between 9am and 10am, not earlier. Free wifi - well, it's free, but it doesn't work - 10 days/nights we had a few hours of actually working internet. Restaurant (compared to similar hotels in the vicinity - bad and overpriced (we usually were the only guests). English - just a few selected staff. One receptionist with a particular bad attitude (advice: you don't want to work there - resign!). Wakeup call (checkout) 15 minutes late. Sadly the space here is limited - many more issued. Overpriced compared to similar hotels in the vicinity. Avoid this hotel.

Aphrodite International was a quiet hotel, served good food, and staffed by responsive people. Two places they really do need to improve: 1) the breakfast buffet is pretty slim. quality ok, but just little choice . They will make hot egg dishes and those were tasty 2) the bed was really too hard. This cause discomfort. Might be my 'expectation' but i normally sleep on a firm bed but this was "too firm" = hard. Would have been nice if they simply could offer one of those 'egg-shell' layers for situations like mine.

I had to leave when I want to get a message and the woman asked me if I had took a shower that morning, I told her what, she asked me again, I said forget it, she said OK I'll give you a message, I said I don't want you to do nothing for me, I then told the manager, he told me he will report her but she is responsible for her own area, I said I know I only stay one day and I paid for two, but I just have to get away from here, I can't stay here. It's so sad this clown lost money by being stupid, and argent! Before I take any massage I take showers, I couldn't believe everywhere you go people still the same. I didn't let is spoil my trip but I couldn't stay there again.

Did not get booked room but Queen room instead. It was meant to be more comfortable. Not sure it was. Surprised when a coffee cost 20 birr on first day and 25 on next - a major price hike. And no warning. It is the principle that counted, not the exchange rte as such. Equally surprised when breakfast room attendant turned off light over table, without saying anything, because it was 10am, end of breakfast time. Customer first? Hmmm. Nevertheless, it was a repeat stay and overall it was good.

My stay was pretty good at this hotel... I got in kinda late and the room I had reserved wasnt available.... So they put me in a room for a night and i received correct room next morning.... The staff was very nice and helped me with hdirections and sight seeing... There was no A/C in this hotel but i think a lot of hotel in the area dont have A/C... but i was never uncomfortable with temp and i was given a fan... Breakfast was decent and the internet was pretty good... I think for the amout you pay the hotel is a good value... I would defintely stay there again

It was fine. I was there for two weeks. The staff are very nice, the free breakfast in the morning is good. If you don't like the buffet, you can get other dishes free from the kitchen even to your room for free if it is during breakfast hours. Although you can get cheaper food outside for lunch and dinner, it is still quite reasonable and very good at the Churchill. And safe, and with free wifi. The rooms transmit a little more noise than I would like. The rooms in front are more exposed to the morning call to prayer, but also get better wifi. So pick your poison. I would stay here again, though if I have a short stay I may try the much more expensive Sheraton out.

Staff were excellent and very helpful. Although I was a little concerned initially as they had no record of my payment to Agoda. This is despite the fact I showed them the receipt from Agoda. My only concerns with the hotel was the fact that the shower was difficult to stand under (couldn't get a proper shower); the bed was very old and not the most comfortable and finally - I thought the price of $72 US a night was a lot more expensive than other hotels I visited during my time in the city. Staff were very professional and helpful which made it a nice stay over all.

I have stayed in lots of hotels in Ethiopia and in Addis in particular. I have just booked my 4th stay at the Kaleb Hotel. I have found the staff there to be excellent and attentive. This is the best hotel that I have stayed at. The receptionist (Kobob) was excellent and always helpful and extremely friendly and professional at all times. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The breakfast is probably the best that I have had in Ethiopia. There is always a great atmosphere at the hotel. Busy in the evenings in a nice bar, but you are never disturbed by the noise in your room. Internet is good; rooms are clean. Choose this hotel. Great value. Great staff. I would not have just booked my fourth stay if it was no good.

A colleague who recently returned from a conference recommended the Friendship International Hotel. So I looked it up on the Agoda webite's listing of hotels in Addis Ababa. When I read a previous visitor's comment, "Very clean bathrooms," I selected it. We arrived in Addis after 9pm and after airport formalities, the airport customer service person phoned the hotel for the shuttle. It arrived quickly and we were surprised that it took only 5 minutes to get to the hotel. We were immediately delighted by its appearance. The check-in staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful even at 11 at night. After a few minutes she found our Agoda reservations and we were in our lovely king room. As it would have been just 8pm in our origin city, we were hungry. The hotel restaurant was open - it is open 24 hours full service, plus room service. Friendship Intl Hotel is in an excellent location. Taxi service is available (at negotiable rates) within 10 - 30 minutes from shopping, central business district, restaurants, UNECA, African Union, museums, Addis University. We were told it is owned by an Ethiopian family. We would definitely choose this hotel again.

I felt like I was among family, the service was better than any I have received at 4 and 5 star hotels. They were flexible and very attentive to your every need. I felt safe and important. I felt as if they were really concerned with your comfort and experience with your stay and visit to Ethiopia. The Reliance hotel out performed other hotel with their personal but professional service. I would stay their again without thought a second thought and would recommend them to any of my friends or colleague who want a high quality experience at affordable prices.

I owed my comfort to my travel companion (my fiancée then, who is now my wife), otherwise the room was small (felt cramped) with a cramped sitting area. An effort was made to fit the room with good quality interior Deco however appreciation of this good feature was lost in that there was not enough space for the eye to travel and appreciate. Internet was very erratic, I had to borrow the 3G Dongle from the reception and was reminded how to handle it each time. Ironing facilities as promised on the site (Agoda/Booking) were not there. Thanks to the friendly reception staff and security personnel coupled with my wife's company I enjoyed my stay.

The staff were great, the location very good, only a few minutes from the Airport....free shuttle also. Good breakfast.....1 cup of coffee can actually make 5 cups for me!! Safe and secure room, fast elevator but you need to open the window to get fresh air as there's no air con......but as it's cool, no need for AC......I would stay there again without hesitation.....

Despite a prepaid reservation, and the fact that we had stayed at the hotel for 6 days previously, we were unceremoniously denied a room as they were full when we returned from a one night stay elsewhere in Ethiopia. They had our email and could have advised us sooner but it was handled very badly and while they put us up in an in another hotel, it was inferior and inconvenient. Very disappointing... what is the purpose of prepaying ahead if they don't honour their commitment.
