Nothing much to rave about this hotel, but it is clean, fairly modern, fresh looking, just minutes away walking from the airport. What was a bit surprising that guests at check-in where offered to pay for WIFI, comes as a surprise as it is a 5 star hotel - really it should be complimentary, but when we checked-in at another counter, we were offered to join "Hilton Club" if I am not wrong, so that we could enjoy complimentary wifi... I have never received any emails on confirmation of my membership, so till now not sure - I am a member or not. Had to bring our own luggage upstairs as well - but we found that was in most hotels in Europe (we went to Germany, The Netherlands, Finland). Had room service at dinner, at it was delicious, though also we had to pay extra if I am not wrong 10 or 20 euros just for delivery... Thought that was a bit odd, never came across that one either.

I loved my stay here. As a solo traveler, coming to Finland can be intimidating due to the expensive nature of this part of the world. Hotel Helka is a fantastic value. Good things: - Very friendly staff, willing to answer questions and help you with your visit - Clean, bright rooms - 15 minute leisurely walk to train station, ten if moving along - Less than 10 minute stroll to Rock Church, 6 minutes if going straight there - Sauna is great! Why come to Finland and not have a sauna?? - Finally, a fantastic buffet style breakfast in a chic, clean, bright eating area Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed for 3 nights before moving onto another igloo for a night and to be honest I wish we had stayed at the star artic for all 4 nights. The staff were incredibly helpful. The room was beautiful but unfortunately we did have a hiccup( an issue that could’ve happened at any hotel). The manager handled our complaint with such professionalism and provided generous compensation so much so that I highly recommend the star artic to anyone considering travelling to the area. Thank you to the staff at star artic and we can’t wait to visit again.

For my first stay in Finland I picked this hotel rather by accident and I'm happy I did. From a business location perspective the hotel has a convenient location and is quiet as very little traffic around the hotel. Staff, room, accommodation and food were very good as they even had gluten free bread. The only point I'd like to see to be improved is having WIFI access FOC in the room. Modern times enable today to benefit from this feature. I look forward staying there again.

My wife and I were very fond of this hotel. We found the rooms excellent, big and clean and the location pretty central. In addition, the hotel has a free of charge business center with two Internet terminals and a printer that helped us a lot to plan the rest of our vacation in Finland. Wxcellent value.

I was staying here with one of my colleague for our business trip. The staff was very friendly. We asked for direction and they offer you a map for the locations nearby. They will be glad to tell you how to go to the city from Otaniemi too. Which bus to take etc. The food was great. I want to get the food again if I happen to visit this hotel again in the future. Overall, the stay is very satisfying

Huone erinomainen laadukkaine kalusteineen, aamupala riittävä, henkilökunta hyvin ystävällistä, kulkuyhteydet keskustaan raitiovaunulla hyvät (linja 9 rautatieasemalle alle 15 min, pysäkki n. 200m, myös linja 8 kulkee hotellin vierestä).

Receptionists are very helpful,polite and nice. Location is good,shopping mall is right infront of hotel and metro station is right infront of the shopping mall. In that shopping mall has big super market. Room is clean and big enough for 2 persons. Breakfast is great with choices and tasty. I'll stay there again for sure !!

Does not include tea & coffee facilities which was disappointing as compared to other Finland Scandic Hotels we stayed in, where these amenities were provided

The receptionist was very polite and pointed out various places-of-interests that we can visit during our stay in Oulu. Perfect location; a large parking lot across the hotel and about 10-15 minutes away from all the places-of-interests. Spacious and clean room, with basic toiletries provided (shampoo, body soap, lotion). A wide variety of food at breakfast. The sauna was perfect, not crowded at all, suggest heading to sauna 45 minutes before closing time, most probably empty and you can have the whole sauna all to yourself. However, the breakfast venue was very crowded, we couldn't find an empty table, took us a good 10 minutes before we could get a table. The rooms are quite costly, not a good choice when travelling on a budget.

Our planned late arrival by train made this the hotel of choice for us. Very good value for Scandinavia, the hotel gave us a good night's stay and a good buffet breakfast. The staff were helpful and friendly. The night we stayed was a very warm one, but the quiet desk fan in our room kept the room well aired all night and we slept well. Check in and out went smoothly and we left early to catch the boat to Savonlinna - a superb trip.

this hotel is clean, tidy and comfortable. it is near the airport and has convenient access to the city. I stayed in Finland for one day due to transit purpose and this hotel is optimal for my short stay as I had to head for the airport on the next day. To my understanding, you can get to the city within 20 mins.

The hotel is in a great location right in the middle of Turku. It has a sauna well. WIFI is fast. Room is clean, spacious and modern. Markets, bars and restaurants near by in walking distance. Staffs are friendly as well. The hotel has a luggage storage.

The hotel is very well located in the centre of town. The rooms are satisfactory but not very big and the wooden flooring makes it a little noisy. The breakfast buffet was nothing special and quite limited in range. Good point was the outdoor parking which meant we could leave the car and do our sightseeing on foot without having to worry about parking. Not sure I would use the same hotel again

while slightly old, the hotel itself was quite nice. the staff were friendly and helpful. the hotel location is on the same street as many of the bars and restaurants which is very convenient.

My (11 year old) daughter and I stayed here to start a European vacation and absolutely loved this place. The geographical situation was stunning, the staff were warm and helpful, and the breakfasts were great! Rolf at the front desk went out of his way to help us every day in some way and made our stay even more memorable. The hotel is also a museum of Swedish and Finnish art and design, reflected in the building itself, furnishings, sculpture and other art works throughout the building interior and grounds as well as actual gallery areas. All of this in a setting of spectacular natural beauty. We went for long bicycle rides on the bikes supplied by the hotel to explore some of the literally hundreds of bike paths and bikeways crisscrossing the Helsinki area (it is shocking how many of these there are providing a complete transportation network). There were computers and printers for guest use and a chess set that made for fun evening challenges. Two small detractions: Housekeeping services comprised someone emptying the trash and straightening the blanket on the bed each day. Nothing was cleaned (cups and glasses left dirty, towels in bathroom left as found, floor not swept) so, although we are not dirty people, the room was starting to get a little less fresh after three days. And despite the stunning natural location, it was a little inconvenient being so isolated from all amenities - the bus ride to town was quite short at 10 min or so on express busses, but €4.50 each way to Helsinki and back along with the time made popping into town for a snack inconvenient. Most people drove to the hotel so would not have had this issue, and even for us it was not major, just required planning to make sure we got important things done on our daily trips to the city. Overall we couldn't have been more happy with this hotel and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique natural and cultural experience in a gorgeous city. We were sad to leave.

We love seaview room and breakfast. Sauna and Indoor pool is very nice. Night time we can have fun at casino or night club. Hotel is just next door to the centrum and fine restaurants. We will come back again!

It is a 3 star hotel, and the comfort level was basic. However, the building set-up is not ideal, where the lift is located at one end, and we ended up having to walk to the end of the building to get to our room. It didn't help that someone had barfed on the carpet at the corridor and the 'smell' stayed on for at least one whole day. Nevertheless, the room is decent and clean. And the staff were really friendly helping us to arrange trips, etc. The breakfast buffet has good selection.

Staff very friendly, service all time to 100%, only bad thing is parking is not so many places. If the parking was full you had to stay on the street. This is something the hotel could improve!

It's close to the lake and the lake is very beautiful. We had a pleasant walk in the area and very relax.

I arrived on a Sunday at 9.15 pm, the reception was already closed, as they close at 9 pm on Sundays. Got the key from the nearby pub and had to walk up three flights of stairs with the luggage, as the elevator is off after the reception is closed. In the room there was a message that next day's breakfast was cancelled but they did leave some food to eat in the room. However the room was OK and the breakfast, when they do serve it was good as well. I don't usually watch TV in hotels but do check what's on. During my stay I tried TV at three different occasions and on two of them they had no channels. I don't know whether they usually have TVs without channels or just on the days I stayed there.

You need to know that address given via agoda is not the apartment location. You have to go to a location that is vending machine like to collect your keys. (As stated in agoda) ... if you don’t drive and has a lot of luggages it will be inconvenient. A quaint apartment. Generally clean.

We traveled at very low season on a Norwegian Holiday when many facilities were closed, even Tourist Information. This is a basic self catering cottage, right off the highway. Future travelers should be aware that 1. They will have to call the manager during down season to check in. We had gone by on 3 occasions to check in, but there was never anyone in the reception. 2. Bring your own sheets, pillowcases and towels -- you can get these for a charge at reception when you check in. 3. Bring dish washing and dish detergent if you plan to use any of the dishes or coffee maker. 4. Bring eye covers if you need darkness to sleep. There are no curtains in the front room. The back room has a small uncovered window -- lots of light when the sun does not go down. The view from the front cabins is beautiful even though it is right off the highway. The only grocery store and a small restaurant is across the street. There is a walking trail to the waterfall within walking distance.

we stayed for 2 nights at 87 euro per night, with breakfast. It's worthwhile with the service and food in the breakfast. We called to reserve a room for our first night and the reception was so nice to help us and wait for us to check-in. She also lend us the bike free of charge to ride to the city center to have dinner (as we arrived very late at night). The city center is not far away from the hotel, around 15-20 min walk (slowly).
