I traveled to Myanmar with my family. We stayed in Yangon for 2 nights, flew out to Bagan, then came back to spend one more night in Yangon. Both times we stayed in Yangon, we stayed at Esperado Lake View Hotel. The hotel is nicely located, easily accessible to taxis where for about $2 you can get to downtown. The rooms were very nice - newly renovated with modern and comfortable facilities. The bathrooms were huge, and the beds and linens were new. The rooms are definitely worth more than we paid. The staff were probably the best thing about the hotel. They were very friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond whatever we asked. We plan to visit Yangon again, and whenever we do, we will be sure to stay in Esperado Lake Hotel.

This was the first hotel we stayed in during our trip to Myanmar and it was wonderful! It is a new hotel, very modern, with clean spacious rooms, a fantastic exercise room, and a huge pool and bar. From our room, we could see the Schwedagon pagoda and skyline of Yangon. Breakfasts were delicious with a large selection of various foods, both Asian and Western. The staff went out of their way to allow us early check-in and then provided good advice for sightseeing and local drivers. After hearing some warnings about hotels in Myanmar, this was a pleasant surprise and the start of a wonderful visit to Myanmar. The location is close to many sights and the value for the price is excellent.

After staying in 3 different hotels in Myanmar, we'd have to say Ta Win Garden Hotel in Yangon was far the best experience we had. The rooms were huge and the showers had good water pressure and hot enough during winter months when we were there. There was hardly any noise in the night and we had a very good night sleep. The breakfast selection was huge and very impressive. We'd definitely stay here again!

We stayed at 3 different hotels during our 4-day trip in Myanmar. Hotel G is very well designed and nice to stay at. The only frustration is we think the hospitality is not up to standard. Check-in was pleasant and welcoming and that's pretty much it. We booked a room for three, and only two sets of amenities were provided. Breakfast selection was poor and the service was relatively ignorant. We felt we had to try to get the staff's attention and food over the counter was never filled and we had to ask a couple of times. We did not feel welcome walking back into the hotel, and walking past the reception made us feel like strangers. It's just a relatively 'uncomfortable' stay in terms of hospitality. The other two hotels we stayed at were 1. Best Western Green Hill and 2. The Mountain Top (Kyaiktiyo) and they are significantly different (better) in making us feel welcome and comfortable. For the price we paid (around 150 USD a night), we would have chosen to stay somewhere else.

This is my first time in Myanmar and my very first hotel stay in Bagan. I must say I’m very delighted and satisfied with the top notch service and best experience I had here at Ananda Bagan Hotel. Upon completion of booking with Agoda, they provide confirmation of booking promptly in less than 20 mins. Not only that, they also response in reasonable time on my following request including pick up service from the bus station. Lucky to say they got me a very good driver which I then hire to be my private driver in Bagan for one day (Toyota Premio car plate number CC-2211, I couldn’t recall the driver name). One of the reasons to ask for pick up service is to avoid having to negotiate cutthroat prices with taxi driver that will come to you the moment you got off the bus. As I went to Bagan from Yangon by bus, I arrive in the morning around 5:40am. My driver picked me up and I arrived at the hotel just after 6am, without I asking, they proceed to let me check in to my room with no extra charges. Ananda Bagan Hotel deserve a BIG THUMB UP 👍🏻 for this. Next up, the room is really spacious and clean! I’m not sure how long Ananda Bagan Hotel has been around, but everything in the room looks pretty new to me. Unlike usual practice where only drinking waters are on the house, Ananda Bagan Hotel provides two bottles of drinking water (1 liters each), two cans of coke and two cans of Myanmar beer, all on the house. Moments after settling myself in the room, apart from the usual welcome drink and wet towel which I received at the reception lobby, they send to my room a complimentary fruits (papaya, watermelon and honeydew), another shown of warm gesture by Ananda Bagan Hotel that catches my heart. On the breakfast included with my stay, they provide a decent mixed on their buffet lines and a numbers of local and western choices on the a-la-carte menu. Very happy with my short stay at the Summit Parkview Hotel. It is a "Guest Friendly" hotel, with an additional US$15 charge, but I understand all high class Myanmar hotels charge about the same so no complaints. I will make this hotel my first choice when I return to Yangon.

This is one of the better hotel in Myanmar (in my opinion). Facility wise it offers a business center, breakfast, in house restaurant in case you don't care to leave the hotel. The highlight for me personally....was the Gym facility!! Love that they have an actual "GYM" not some make shift outdated stuff. As a professional in the fitness industry...this definitely made my stay a pleasant one. Breakfast .....buffet style is a definite plus!! And the staff are very professional and helpful!! I would give these guys an A++

The best hotel during our three weeks in Myanmar. Our room was very spacious and had a large balcony. The bed was very comfortable and we slept really well, listening to the waves. The beach was so empty (and clean), it felt like our private beach and there was no shortage of sunbeds. The breakfast was amazing and the best we've had. There was everything you could ask for and the quality was great. They also brought us snacks to the room every night, another lovely touch. However, the best part is the staff. Everyone is extremely well trained, speaks fantastic English and is super attentive. We'd like to say especially huge thanks to Chomee, who looked after us a lot and even taught me how to make a delicious tea they were serving. The resort is superb on all accounts, but most of all the staff. And the prices were really reasonable for a resort of this level.

Not a downtown hotel, but located on the Parami main road. Easy to get taxis, short drive to restaurants and Myanmar Plaza. Rooms are large and comfortable. Better than they look in the pictures. Breakfast buffet is excellent, with several western and eastern options. Staff is courteous and helpful.

My stay was five days and I have no complaints with the best western. I had a basic double room which was to be honest just a little small with only enough room to walk round the bed. If you are using this as a base then no worries but if you spend much time in the room, perhaps in the evenings then expect a little cabin fever. The staff here are great and helped me in every way I needed. I stayed in bigger more plush hotels in Myanmar during my travels there but this hotel had the best breakfast.

We booked TBR for 4 nights of beach time at the end of our Myanmar trip. What a fantastic place to relax! The resort occupies a central location on a stretch of beautiful beach, with many restaurants a few minutes stroll away. We booked the cheapest rooms, which are at the back near the road. You can hear the traffic but we didn't find it bothersome. The rooms are spacious with a balcony which is great for hanging out clothes to dry or just relaxing with a book. Although the resort was almost full when we were there it never felt busy or noisy. No problems getting sunloungers! It was nice to have the option of the sea or the pool and you could easily switch between them, with lots of outdoor showers to remove excess sand! What really stood out was the level of service, especially the F&B and housekeeping / ground staff. Staff were very friendly and attentive without being overbearing, their level of service and professionalism was equal to that of a 5* hotel. Nice touches like a "fold down" service and staff pulling out chairs for you to sit down etc, as well as being greeted by a big smile and "minglabar!" everywhere we went made us feel very looked after. I really enjoyed the breakfast and thought there was great choice, again with excellent service. You will see "swankier" resorts along the beach but if you want great value for money in the care of wonderful staff I'd recommend Thande Beach Resort unreservedly!

I have stayed in hotels all around Myanmar having lived and worked in the country for 4 years. The Link 78 in Mandalay is by far the best all round hotel I have stayed in. This is intriguing because it's far from the most expensive. It's what you would say is 'mid-range' in terms of price. However the quality of the rooms, the service, and especially the food, is simply the best in Myanmar I have experienced. It's worth visiting the restaurant on the top floor even if you are not staying int he hotel, the food is truly first class and not at all expensive. In the past 4 years I have stayed in about 15 different hotels in Mandalay. Over the past 6 months it has been the same hotel each time and I cannot see myself staying anywhere else. Well done to the Link 78 Mandalay - as a business traveller, you are the first hotel in Myanmar that has truly satisfied me and achieved international standards.

This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in during our Myanmar travel about, in late November, early December, but it was worth it to us. We chose the most expensive rooms as well, with a river view, facing spectacular sunsets. Staff were very friendly and even if their English was hesitant, they tried their best to look after guests. Could not ask for better service. The hotel is located in the Old Bagan pagoda park, next to the museum. Food service, particularly buffet breakfast, were very welcome after our more adventurous tastings around Myanmar at Inle/Inlay, Mandalay and Yangon. Compared to other SE Asian countries (esp Thailand and Vietnam), Myanmar is not a foodie place. There are regional specialities such as the ferocious Rakhine dishes and the flavoursome Shan noodles. Order "medium" heat for safety, but also the oil based chili and garlic side sauce to pump up the spice of required. River prawns and fish seem to be overcooked wherever we found them. As the guidebooks say, the Bagan Thande is for the splurge.

Those who said Inya Lake hotel is old, do you know that it has a history of over 100 years. Those who said it is secluded, can you find another hotel in Myanmar that owns acres and acres of lands and a LAKE!. To walk one round takes 20 minutes! Gym, outdoor swimming pool, cafe and bars(not only one), what more do you need? At this price? i would definitely keep coming back and this is the only hotel i will choose to stay in Myanmar ever! love it! it is just not fair, shitty ones like 9 Mile hotel, KH hotel, or Royal Pavallion also have review points 7. Yup I have stayed at all 3. trust me, will never step a foot there again after comparing them with Inya Lake! :P

The staff is the best we have seem in hotels in Myanmar. Their English is great, they are very courteous and efficient. You can tell there is great management at this hotel. They have lots of very nice touches such as free bicycles, free fruit plate in room fridge on first day, and free dinner for 2 + free massage for 2 if you stay 5 nights ( which was a great surprise for us as we extended our stay without knowing about this). The hotel is very clean and of great taste. The pool is clean and great size to swim or just hang out. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and the bathroom and shower are also great. Free wifi works perfectly everywhere, including in the rooms. Breakfast is the best we had in Myanmar, with great variety and quality (even compared to more expensive hotels). Location is perfect as we are walking distance to town to hire ebikes and go for a meal outside hotel if desired, and yet it is beautiful and quiet around the hotel. Would definitely return and recommend!

Merchant is a brand new hotel. Rooms are clean, proper and spacious. Wifi is working properly also in the rooms. It's very close to Schwendagon Pagoda (with an amazing view of it from the upper floors and roof terrace). It's maybe not the best location to go around Yangon (downtown not at walking distance - by taxi 3000K), but very easily connected to the airport (taxi 8000K). The breakfast is good, there's a buffet and a large selection of warm dishes to choose from the menu (1 is complimentary). Also the dinner in the roof terrace is very good, but of course a bit pricy in comparison to Burmese standards. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back. Only little negative point is that breakfast is served starting from 7. Being Yangon a connection city I don't find it very handy if you have a flight in the morning (many guests were waiting in the hall for the restaurant to open). I would suggest to open it at 6.30, as most of the hotels in Myanmar do.

Like others travellers, we are finding this place really nice, beautiful and tastefully orned bedrooms, in a flowery garden, staff really careful and smiling, and what should be normal but really doesn't happen often in Myanmar, stuff are maintained, taken care of, one can see the details are important here, and what needs to be changed or renewed is. And the wifi (possible, like everywhere in Myanmar only in lobby, not in the rooms) is the best we got in our whole travel. So it could be one of the best places I stayed if...the swimming pool wasn't closed ! The water is green, so indeed, you wouldn't dare swimming there. But when asked when it will open again, the answer seems to be very vague "tomorrow, or the day after" (same answer every day...) That is to say we won't probably be able to use it before we leave. What is really unpleasant is the problem doesn't seem to be new, and we had booked our room since weeks. So they could have warned us, and even, as the hotel doesn't seem to be full, upgraded or offer a discount or anything. But the only thing they propose is taking you to another hotel swimming pool. We gladly accepted to first day, but it is quite far, outside Old Bagan, you need to take a horse-car (that they do pay) and this other swimming pool is far from being very clear either. And as you can guess, when you have to take a 20min drive, you don't use the pool as often as you would like to, not possible to make a quick swim to freshen up...So really disappointing, one would expect better from an hotel not that cheap...We had chosen this hotel for its very good location, the good commentaries on tripadvisor and everywhere else, and for the swimming pool ! Disappointing ! And to notice as well, the bar is not really cheap either, 4$ for a lime juice you get everywhere else around 1 to 2$ maximum...

After staying in $20-$30 rooms throughout Myanmar, my wife and I decided to splurge and stay here for one night. The room and hotel were awesome. Our room was spacious, clean and the furniture, mattress and linens were well maintained. The private balcony was nice to hang out on. We loved all the windows and woke up to a glorious sunrise. The hotel is well kept and the staff were very nice. Food was great too. I enjoyed the grilled lake fish for dinner. The breakfast buffet is the best we have had in Myanmar-omelette station, crepes, cheese, bacon, and great coffee. The only downside are the boat engines roaring starting at 6 AM.

I loved this hotel! For once in my life, I felt like I booked the best hotel at the beach. My husband and I spent 3 days/nights here in November 2014 after 2 weeks of traveling around Myanmar. The hotel occupies the best stretch of the beach and we spent three days doing nothing and relaxing on loungers under palm trees. They also make great cocktails for you while you hang out at the beach! Our room and bathroom were spacious and very clean, the staff were friendly and unobtrusive, and the breakfast on the terrace by the pool was also great. We didn't really eat at the hotel, but went instead to the small seafood restaurants further down the beach. We only had an afternoon snack at the hotel once, which I remember to be pretty good. The hotel also organized a private snorkel trip around the island off the beach for us on short notice. Overall, a very enjoyable stay that I would recommend to anyone! Only negative point: There was virtually no WiFi, neither in the room nor in the common areas.

After Kalaw trekking with my little kid, we need comfortable hotel. This is the best option. Most of all, the people are so kind. They are ready to solve your lots of problems. You know, the location is little bit away from the Nyang Wu region, but as for me that;s not serious thing. My family had have a fantastic restoration here. My Myanmar is here.

Brand new hotel - opened on Jan 1st 2017. Room is extremely clean, and well furnished. Shower Area / Toilets spacious. Staff are very friendly. Lobby is uniquely-designed. Good food - though the menu was slightly limited as I was one of the first guests and the full menu wasn't on offer at that time. Beside the hotel, there is a good thai restaurant, a very popular hot-pot restaurant, and a bar. There is a gym with the basic necessities, perfect for business travellors who just want to do a little bit of exercise to keep fit. Nothing negative really. Very good price-value ratio - actually the best value to price hotel you can book that is relatively near to the Airport. Will recommend and stay again.

a very brand new hotel which is very clean, big room, and great service. Location is ok. Though it's not in the middle of downtown but you can find some small restaurants and the mini mart on the opposite side of the hotel in the walking distance. And as Myanmar's transportation is not convenience that you have to travel around by taxi, staying here is good because it's not busy compares to those hotels in downtown. Also all the staffs are going beyond their duty, they provide us exceptional services. They helped us plan our trips in Mandalay and book the taxi to travel around and a bus to Bagan with a fair price. They also gave us lots of info about the places' admission fee, the boat fee, the taxi to near by cities, etc. Breakfast was ok. There are hot food which most of them are Myanmar dish. (if you expect omelette, scramble egg, or sunny side up, they don't have that style) Overall is great, will definitely stay here again

I stayed this hotel for this week during my business trip. room is very convient and too big~! most of all, I impressed employee's kindness!! I recommend avenue 64 hotel.. I am not sure whether I visit myanmar... it was my interesting memories.

The Vintage Luxury Yacht Hotel is new, opened a month a go. It is clean and great value for a 5 star. Being that it is just starting out there are really good buys at this time. I was a little unsure of the condition and the location being it was my first time to Myanmar. It is a good location, and the staff did a fantastic job. Very friendly and professional. The wireless internet did not work well many times, the configuration was not done correctly. I needed to log on with different passwords because of this issue, and there were times the wireless routers or switches fought with each other and I would be dropped. The phone service in Myanmar needs work, so having an stable internet is very important so you can make the necessary calls. I recommend this hotel and would stay there with my wife. If you had small kids, this is not the right place being your one the water and it would not be safe enough for them to run around.

If you're planning an international vacation and are considering something different, then travel to Myanmar. Two recommendations are easy to make: (1) book your stay at The Loft in downtown Yangon and (2) hire tour Guide "Han" from Toursbylocals.com. The Loft is a funky and cool boutique hotel in the capital city of Yangon, Myanmar (formerly known as Rangoon, Burma). Reasonably priced, The Loft is fashionably decorated in a funky, cool style with super clean rooms, hallways and common spaces. The main floor restaurant and lounge is run by Chef Ludovic Carptuant and serves the best French cuisine outside of France. In room air-conditioning provided daily relief from the constant heat and humidity outdoors. Front desk, concierge and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. For two veteran business travellers who have seen a lot of hotels over 20 years, we are not exaggerating when we rate this hotel with 5 stars - as good as any top hotel we've stayed in.

The hotel was very nice and we enjoyed staying there. It is next to old Bagan and it is very easy to visit the tempels. The pool was the nicest in the area and the restaurant was very good also including the buffee breakfast. The room was also very spacy and we had a nice view to the garden and the river. The staff tried to be helpful but they were not as frindly as they were in other hotels in Myanmar. Nevertheless they arranged a late check out for us as my child was sick which was very nice gesture. The credit card did not work at all, which is a minus. All in all we enjoyed very much staying in Aye Yar River View Resort and found it one of the best hotels in the old Bagan. Highly recommendable.

My wife and I traveled from Yangon to Ngwe Saung Beach for a four day personal retreat. We live in and travel extensively in Asia and spend many more days in a hotel than at home. Since we travel so often we generally choose mid-range properties but sometimes stay in 5 star or even 2 star hotels. We read the Reviews of hotels to get a sense about the place we are going to stay. Eskala had good reviews, but honestly, this property was one of the best I have stayed at in years. The staff was well trained and it is evident that the management was investing in staff training and more importantly in maintenance and upkeep of the facility. We walked the beach every day and this one had the best maintained beach of all of the beachfront properties in this stretch of beach. We had a small problem with the A/C one evening but the staff immediately worked to resolve the issue. Our respect to Ya Min who had the title of Bellboy but demonstrated excellent management skills in assisting in this. Our stay was in September, Rainy Season, and we expected the food service to be decreased but we found the Food to be excellent. More 5 star than 4 star. Htun Htun Oo and staff did an exemplary Job even though the hotel was not full. Food presentation and timing was first class and the portions were generous. We were also impressed with the Front desk manager Nao Nao Hnin Wai who checked us in and out and assisted us as we were interested in local attractions. The Pool was exceptionally large for a 60 unit property and very well maintained. Overall, the stay exceeded our expectations. Would recommend this property to anyone traveling to this beach.

A wonderful new hotel near the airport. If you are in Yangon for a while and want to explore, it's probably not the best location because it's a bit far from the main attractions, but if you are coming/going from the airport or highway bus station it's a great hotel. It's new and the staff are really amazing. It looks like maybe they are doing some formal training program or something. They really try their best, so please be patient with them if things aren't perfect. As mentioned in other posts, there is a small swimming pool - a rarity in Myanmar, and especially at non 5-star and even most 4-star hotels. There is also a spa and small fitness center on site and the food at the restaurant was decent. Breakfast has good variety for a small hotel. It is down a small alley off the main road so there isn't a ton to do, especially within walking distance. But Grab taxi works great in Myanmar and the staff are so helpful if you want to get a taxi the old fashioned way.

The hotel is situated at very good location. you can walk to Shwedagon Pagoda and Kandawgyi Lake. The hotel is very new and my room is spacious and clean. Reasonable price compared to other hotels in Myanmar. Actually, standard room rates in Myanmar are quite expensive compared to other countries in terms of quality. This one is worthwhile.

After having to pay big money for several Myanmar hotels, it was nice to get one that was value for the money. Great big rooms, a large lounge area, large bathroom and a seperate room for the shower. It was a waterfall type shower which I didn't mind as it still had better waterflow than my other hotels. The room also had two powerboards with universal outlets. It's a little away from a bulk of the main sites so if you're cycling you may want to stay near Old Bagan. Taxis, booked from the hotel for $40 a day, get you to the sites fairly quickly though. The drivers drop you back at the hotel for a couple hours after lunch.
