We had to wait more than an hour outside to get a tricycle/jeep. They should provide free hourly shuttle to the city proper for the guests.

We've always loved Fort Ilocandia for its architecture, proximity to the beach, and friendly and helpful staff. This time though, we got to experience service beyond the usual, when we forgot a pair of eyeglasses in our room, and they graciously coordinated with us to send it to us through courier. Special shout-out to the housekeeping team and to Ms. Cheska Olivares!

Hotel is old but maintained. Picturesque location within walking distance to the private beach and olympic-sized pool. Serene and quiet at night. The only challenge is getting private transportation from hotel to city or for sigthseeing. Hotel shuttle rates and tours are a bit pricey, so if you have your own private car, then it should be ok. Minimal choice of breakfast items but acceptable. Staff were friendly and polite. Late check-out is allowed until 6:00 p.m. at a minimal fee. Airport shuttle is provided free.

        It was perfect for us”
This might not be the ideal place for everyone, but it was perfect for us. First thing you have to know is that there is no casino! It’s the first thing they advertise, but it has been closed down since 2016. They only have a couple of restaurants now, but the food and service is great. We really enjoyed the place because it wasn’t very busy so it was nice and quiet. The pools are clean and the staff was exceptional! We actually stayed three nights over two weeks and plan to return in the future!

Great for hotel staycation; very inaccessible to everything else in Laoag”
Pros: spacious rooms with amenities and good view of manicured garden; olympic sized pool, beach (although beach could use some cleaning as there are garbage everywhere). Cons: very inaccessible from main town, and hotel doesn’t even have a free shuttle to bus station or airport. You’ll have to hire their hotel van for PhP1,000 just to get to the bus station. Hotel is about 30-mins car ride to town center. If you have not pre-arranged transportation, you’ll get stuck in the hotel or will have to pay of overpriced ride just to get to town.

Food is expensive but really nothing special. Buffet breakfast spread was really bad considering this supposedly a highly regarded hotel. They could've at least served their langonisang Laoag, but all they had looked like food for (or from) lunch. Going out for food would also cost P1000 one way hence you're sort of caged in and have to buy their expensive food. All activities, such as the Sand Dunes, horseback riding, ATV, as expected costed something, which was actually cheaper if availed outside of the hotel. Half of the swimming pools were closed for two days, and this area hardly had any shade. The staff though were very accommodating, especially room and shuttle service people.

Would be better if hotel provides a shuttle service to nearby cities or town. Once inside the facility guest can only do so much inside unless you have a car to go outside.

Disappointing stay at fort Ilocandia. Expected five star but know greeting upon arrival.”
Can’t understand why this hotel still carries a five star rating. Two star , three at the most. To sum it up , hotel is in dire need of restoration work . Holes in tiles. Worn out / dirty carpets. Limited breakfast choice. Just run down. Disappointing as we were expecting much more from an hotel that’s steeped in history.

        Old hotel with character.”
Rooms are spacious and well maintained. Lots of amenities to enjoy. No need to getout to enjoy the vacay. You can enjoy the beach, the pool, zoo, or simply explore the hotel. Food though is nothing to look forward to. But will still highly recommend Fort Ilocandia to friends. Read some bad reviews about the hotel. We went there this holy week only which is peak season. Did not see anything that would turn me off except food is not great. Hope they maintain the place so it can still be a destination for many more visitors in the years to come. We will definitely go back.

The beds were ok, landscaping was well maintained. If only they will apply the same care given to the outside to the inside especially the bathrooms 🤨! The bathroom we had was dingy, the tub faucets soap dish are falling apart and rusty. The bath shower curtain was moldy. The stairs and hallway carpeting in the first floor are torn and dirty. They charge for extra pillows! The restaurants gave excellent service, so did the porters. The hotel still carries a hint of the old grandeur but badly needs renovation and updating. The whole place smells musty.

Great for Ilocos - Shame about the Food”
A visit to Fort Ilocandia has become an annual event for us. My family love the variety of activities and the beach. We don't mind the remote location because we rent a car. But this trip marked a new low in the quality of meals. It was terrible ... and not worthy of the 5-star tag. We'll pack our own meals next time.
