Lovely heritage hotel with real character”
We had two nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful position, the beauty of the the building, with swings, daybeds etc and the grounds, with pool. Breakfasts and dinner (served by the pool) were very good, as were the staff.

Above average”
We enjoyed a quiet stay at Castle Bijaipur. After a busy schedule of visiting every tourist destination in Rajasthan, it was nice to chill out and do nothing at Castle Bijaipur. We enjoyed walking around the village and out into the country taking pictures of the abundant birdlife and rural scenes. The villagers were friendly and tolerant of our presence. It is too bad that the only place to get food in the town is at the castle. The restaurant at the castle served some of the blandest food we have had in India at a ridiculously high price. The place is geared towards organised tours. Maybe groups get value for their money but as independant travelers, I would say that our stay was interesting but overpriced.

..and relax...”
Its hard to fault this place. Clean, super spacious rooms with marble floors and lovely linen; fantastic shower; we had a lovely private roof terrace overlooking the village and hills. Reasonably priced G&T, great pool. Staff were wonderful. In a way it is a bit'gated community' but do venture out into the village and spend some money. The village is poor but super lovely people. We went to a performance of a play/musical by some travelling actors/singers - the whole village attended. Mesmerising and immersive experience. The food was a bit uninspiring but fresh, always ask for 'Indian Style'. Personally, I wouldn't bother with the trips on offer and just take a big pile of books and be prepared to relax. Oh, and the deep tissue massage and reflexology were the best in India.

Good for groups; Couples probably not.”
My wife and I just spent a few days in Bijaipur. a small town surrounded by lovely farmland. This hotel caters to groups. If you are not in a group then it is a bewildering place to stay: meal times and locations are unknown and not announced. I think the staff is used to having a group guide to provide information to guests. This is unfortunate, as the setting is very nice and convenient to Chittoragh.

Great castle experience”
Great little palace in a middle of a village lost in the hills behind Chittorgarh (1h away, 600 rp with rickshaw). You are there for the hotel and nothing else, had a yoga session with the Maharaja in the morning, enjoyed the pool and the beautiful room, chatted with the other costumers. The restaurant maitre d.hotel was great fun and really lovely team, too bad the food was just average too salty and fatty and not much flavoors. Overall I still recommand the place, the double bed room are nicer than twin.

Service staff, romantic rooms, friendliness
What a gogeous castle. Exquisite surroundings, fantastic pool. Staff couldn't do enough for you to make sure you were comfortable. A special thank you to yogi who was such a splendid waiter. As was all the staff. Friendly owners who were not afraid to interact with guests which was a welcoming touch. We missed not having the evening entertainment which was closed for the hot summer. Will recommend this place anytime. Thank you castle Bijapur .

We enjoyed relaxing at the Castle Bijapur”
The Hotel, the grounds, the staff
One recent reviewer said “All in all: a boring place. Nothing to see, nothing to enjoy, nothing to remember. Wasted time” It is funny that we all see things differently. We were quite happy to relax in the grounds of this really special place, sitting by the pool or the shade whilst reading a good book or having a nice cold drink. We did find things to do, we took the jeep trip round the local area and ended up at their tented camp at Lake Pangarh. The Hotel Castle Bijaipur was the most expensive place we stayed in during our 2 week trip but it was the one with the most opulence and it was a nice treat for us. It was a bit like going back in time, to a different era, seeing how a privileged family lived The room and bathroom were very nice; no problems at all although the marble floors were a bit cool. For those with limited mobility, the narrow stairs to upper floors might be very challenging as we did not see any lifts. the hereditary ‘ruler’ of the castle and his daughter in law made a point of speaking to us and asking us about our trip and stay, something you do not get if you stay in a major chain hotel. One disappointment was the restaurant which was sterile and lack character. There were a couple of long tables which were for larger groups but it needs someone to inject some character into it. We had no fault with the waiters in the restaurant who were great fun. Although the hotel is out in the countryside some 40km from Chittorgarh we would definitely come back to The Hotel Castle Bijaipur, if we returned to this area. After all we like to see how the privileged live now and again
