The pool is nice, our kids loved it, as did a lot of people who seemed to only use it for Instagram style pictures.
Alexandra | 24 July 2019
There is a Tesco next door which was great for cheap drinks and snacks, when you don't want to walk in the heat.
Alexandra | 24 July 2019
The hotel is located very well, close to the night market and the temples by walk.

Wonderful Hospitality”
I cannot say enough about the amazing staff at this resort! They helped us choose different tours and booked them for us. They were very hospitable and very friendly. We would definitely stay at the Karou Lotus again and would recommend to all our friends and family. The price is great and it is within close walking distance to amenities. The pool was great and refreshing and the food was great for a great price. Thank you for making our trip to Chiang Mai that more memorable.
Thank you so much, your guys are amazing!! Hope to see your guys again :)
Great Location, Price, and Staff!”
Kara Lotus Hotel was by far the best place I stayed at during my travels through Thailand. It's easily one of the nicer hotels in the area and it's a prime location just East of the City Center and near the various street markets. The staff always went above and beyond to help us out. One time a taxi bailed on us, so the owner drove us to the airport in his own vehicle. Amazing people and wonderful service! I can't say enough great things about Karou Lotus!
Stay here, you won't be disappointed!”
I love this hotel and have returned for a second stay this year. The location is very near to the old town, about 10 minutes walk. The staff are friendly and helpful and the owner Bernard and his wife are very charming and will do everything they can to make your stay a good one. Breakfast was freshly cooked for us and we could have western or Thai. I won't stay in any other hotel in Chiang Mai as this has everything I need for a very reasonable price. Keep up the good work the staff at the Lotus Hotel.
Great Stay!”
We had a wonderful time at Karou Lotus. Overall the rooms where clean and spacious, the only thing I could complain about where the beds as it was pretty hard... other than that we enjoyed our stay! The staff were very friendly and helpful as well.
Best Service I have ever experienced in a hotel”
First and foremost: I cannot speak highly enough of the service and staff at this hotel. It was phenomenal to say the least, and I extended my stay at the hotel for this sole reason. The owner, Bernard, was always down in the cafe offering advice on things to do in Chiang Mai, and the staff would always insist on making all reservations on my behalf so that I would not be ripped off. I have so many examples of the amazing service: - Another traveler and I inquired about renting scooters for the day so Bernard insisted on sitting us down for a drink while one of the other staff, Ip, ran off up the road to check the availability of scooters at what they said was the most reliable rental company. 20 minutes later, they delivered 2 brand new scooters to our hotel for what is possibly the cheapest rates available. - Another morning I had woken up a little late and made it downstairs just in time for the expected arrival of the truck for my elephant visit. The staff insisted on making me a breakfast sandwich to take away after I told them I did not have enough time to enjoy the free breakfast on offer. Other than this, the pool is beautiful and very refreshing. The rooms are very clean and the bathroom facilities are fantastic - not often you get a hot shower and good water pressure in Asia. All in all a fantastic stay which I would thoroughly recommend.
A great find at a great price. Good value for money!”
A great little refurbished boutique hotel situated in Chiang Mai, close to all amenities and town centre, but quiet enough if needed. There is a 7/11 next door at the garage. My only complaint is that the garage could be a little noisy at times as 24/7 but we did not find a hindrance. This hotel is small and friendly with very helpful staff. The rooms are basic with A/C and spotless as too with the beds and bed linen. the added bonus is the swimming pool on the ground floor. Breakfast was basic and good. We would stop here again.
Great staff and great value”
Stayed here three times while in northern Thailand. The staff were very helpful with arranging transportation for us and had great suggestions for restaurants and things to do in Chiang mai. Great value for a clean hotel, comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. If I am ever back in Chiang mai I will definitely stay here again.
Good location and hospitable staff”
This hotel is not within the square but close enough to walk to tourists spots and night market. The staff will help you the best they can from hailing a cab to directions on specific locations. But it's best to just book Grab/Uber. Drivers sometimes have difficulty speaking English but you can use Google translate. The breakfast is superb and they serve it as early as 630am. We will definitely stay here the next time we visit Chiang Mai.
Great for more upscale solo traveler”
Hotel is within walking distance of all there is to do in Chaing Mai without being loud so rest is assured. The place is very clean, pool is as nice as pictured and room was large and very comfortable. The best part was Pang at the reception desk. She was awesome! She helped me book tours and even allowed me to use her own cell phone to change a plane reservation. Hotel is appropriately priced and I would certainly return again
3 star plus ”
Attention to cleaning ,the new owners are are doing a great job ..pool is wonderful ,,after midday no sun ,i didnt find the noise from petrol station exceptional,,and it has a mini Tesco there for convenience can walk to the old city through the backpacker section easy 10 min, has a quick modern Elevator ,,rooms are airy ,bathrooms ultra moden ,hothotwater with hand shower or overhead rain maker head,,kettle and coffee mugs/glasses and chang beer in the fridge for 40 baht same price as 7/11 there ,,beds are firm not medium not soft ,,, did look at some of the other hotels there and i think most of the pics must be over 10 years old ...we all were very happy here and is just a short walk to the China markets ,,its huge and there every day and then theres the Sunday walking street market !! OMG !!! this is insanely huge haha,
Amazing!!”
If you’re trying to find a place to stay in Chiang Mai, book with this hotel! The location is great and the staff is very friendly. Beautiful pool and rooms clean and big.
Thank you so much for a very great review :)
Nice, Clean, Great Value Hotel”
I had to go to CM for an overnight business trip and stayed here as it is located very close to the US Consulate, a few minutes walk away. The hotel staff was friendly and check-in was pleasant and quick. Note that the hotel will keep a deposit of 300 THB for incidentals. I paid cash for the room, but they do accept credit cards with a 3% surcharge. Room was quite nice. Basic and very clean, with a large bed, TV, plenty of electrical outlets, a small fridge with drinks stocked at reasonable prices. Wifi was good, with a strong signal throughout the room. There is a small balcony that overlooks the city. The view is not much, mostly overlooking a gas station. I had a good night of sleep, the bed was very comfortable and the pillows are soft. Unfortunately, I did not have time to try the food offerings at the hotel, so cannot comment on quality/taste, but they do offer a decent looking menu for dining in your room or lobby. I would recommend this place for a great value short stay in CM.
Thank you for your review :)
⭐️⭐️STAFF!!!!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
I stayed here when I moved from the US to Chiang Mai, Thailand. It isn’t easy. If it wasn’t for Nikki and the staff I would have been, well, just lost. Nikki thank you. Your kindness and care will not be forgotten. It is a wonderful place!
Thank you so much Holly!! Hope to see you soon! :) <3
decent hotel which didnt disappoint us”
We were apprehensive looking at all the reviews before going in. But we saw that this hotel has met our expectations. The bed and restrooms were clean. The hotel provided hair dryer but Iron press was missing. Balcony and huge glass windows were provided but the outside view is nothing worth talking about. The breakfast spread was basic, we had omlette and toasted bread with butter and jam, along with orange juice. But it was enough to fill the tummies. There is a Tesco right next to hotel and the night bazaar is also at a walkable distance. One should be careful using their towels, pillows etc., any damage or stains are going to get you penalized. There was a chart on main door listing various penalties, which you wouldn't find in many other places. Overall, we found the place to be good enough and didn't face any issues.
Definately not a 4 Star hotel”
Hotel is fine but definately not a 4 Star hotel. I would rate it 2 or maybe 3 Stars. For a 4 Star hotel I would expect nicer rooms, better service and an open restaurant. Pool was dirty when we arrived with a green layer of algies on the buttom in one end. Breakfast was fine and free but apart from that the restaurant was barely open and there are no restaurants next to the hotel. Our first room had some kind of bugs crawling on us so we had to change room. This was done without any problems, but I believe they just went on renting out the room to the next guests without solving the bug issue. On the good side the staff are helpfull and willing to help arrange tours and private driver. The hotel is only 5 minutes drive from Chiang Mai Gate (one of the gates to the old City). Next to the hotel you’ll find a minimart.
Overall a good stay”
Pretty much all went smooth. The only complaint I have as I do with 50% of the Thai places is a HARD mattress. I adjust after a day but this is a differentiation between a large number of 3-star but less prevalent in 4-star or 5-star locations. This being said, it is still a good value for what was paid. Breakfast is Western style only. I do wish there was ONE Thai choice. Location is central going to the Old City or east part of Chiang Mai... good location!
Winging it Through Thailand”
This is a reasonably priced hotel that is clean and the rooms aren’t too small. There is a small bar fridge and water is complementary. It is about 5-8 min walk to the warorot market which you can certainly spend a couple of days in. It is probably a 10-12 min walk to the daily night market and maybe a 15 min walk to the Sunday night market It is right besides a gas station if you want to stock up on snacks This hotel has a fairly shallow pool on the ground level that while it looked good no one really used Anyways I liked the place so much I extended twice just to avoid all the moving around
Exceptional”
The place is really nice, I just came for a night and would like to stay in this place again when I visit Chiang Mai.
Exceptional”
The staff were very nice and helpful. They will call the agency/local operator who will pick you up if they haven’t arrive yet. The location was good. My room was big at an affordable price. The walls are thin though because you can here the people outside. I don’t know if every room has a porch or similar to that but mine has. It helped me dry out my swimming clothes. They didn’t refill my shampoo/body wash though when they cleaned my room. The hotel also has a restaurant/cafe. There is also a nearby convenient store.
Staff are very friendly and super helpful. The room are clean. ”
Pros : All staffs are friendly and helpful. The room is clean, including swimming pool. The breakfast is limited, but it was well prepared. Their coffee was great. Cons : Location is a bit far from the old wall, but we loved to walk, nit our big deal. They don’t have much restaurant nearby the hotel.
