Hotel is Good value for money with buffet Chinese breadfast. However hotel is A bit old n rundown. Filipino casino is next to iT 5 mins walk to Good Chinees Seafood restaurant n Good beef soup stall n Chinese Teochew porridge restaurant. 12 mins walk to several malls Inc lucky Chinatown mall. However, this location is Very Traffic heavy n Very slow moving. Many taxi do not want to take You here because of THE traffic or Will quote a premium rate.

No attach toilet.”
Shld have highlighted in advertisement tht toilet not attached to the room. Very inconvenient. And thr was a some maintenance work started early morning in hotel with lot of noise whc definitely distrub ur sleep. Meldrum is one of the worst hotel I ever encounter n not title for a 2 star ranking. I'll more prefer if the front of the house staff are local n not foreigner.

Noisiest Hotel Ever ”
Well, is not cheap to consider this hotel is the oldest hotel among this street. Without fridge and wifi suck! the worst is one stone away for local Kopitiam which operate 24 hours with other shop. Street is dirty and a lot of un normal ppl loitering around even at wee hours. I just happend to stay 2 night and wak eup by loud noise at teh kopitiam which there is a fight going on. My god. This is last time.

Clean hotel.”
I stayed at a standard room this time. I was told standard rooms are on level 1 while Superior rooms are on level 4. Standard rooms are slightly smaller than Superior but the noise level is much more if you're facing the main street(I asked for a room facing the street so I can't complain.) Still, quite clean. No problems whether standard or Superior.

Clean Hotel”
Meldrum is not a new hotel but it is quite clean. The staff have done a decent job maintaining the hotel. I like the bed very much(it was very firm) but the pillows are abit too flat for my liking. I had to stack two together but it became too high instead....

Solo traveler looking for a night in JB to avoid the Causeway queue”
My favourite JB hotel, without any hestitation. Whenever i need a cheap and convenient hotel while waiting for the Causeway car queue to lessen, it is always Meldrum. I covered extensively before in the previous reviews, it is conveniently located near the Immigration and major shopping centre (City Sq). Hawker and street food is everywhere when you stepped out from the hotel. Famous food include: The Kam Long Curry Fish Head (walking distance), Ya Wang duck rice (don't order the duck rice for 1 person. Try their herb marinated duck, which is at least half a duck). Weighing the cons, the room rate is still one of the cheapest in JB. No question. Room is spacious but dont expect a hotel feel. It's more of a low to mid end Airb&b room rental. But if you want a real hotel, visit KSL or Holiday Villa. They are more appropriate for family trip where comfort is high on your list. Meldrum is good for a short stay (1 or 2 days) and when you are alone and not picky with facilities.

Very good”
The Meldrum is always the lodging I use when in Jahor Baruh, I've been using since before it was updated by the owner with new LCD TVs, new coffee makers/boiling water machines and nice showers. The most enexpensive rooms use locked communial toilets, so there's none in the room, the inexpensive one. Restaurants/stands in alleys everywhere, great place to eat reasonably. Just a hair of the more expensive side; but then I always travel on the cheap so I can use my money for all the other things to do and see when on the road. Recommended!

Disappointment on first visit.Staff honesty not in place.”
Firstly, Hotel room cleanliness is very bad , Dust all over the room include sleeping area .2nd , many roaches crawling around upon on/off light as well as some flies .3rd ,I made full payment on agoda& not knowing that when i reached the hotel the staff asked me to pay government tax despite the agoda bill stated all paid includes gvmnt taxes ... Last, one of Hotel staff on morning shift that day 31/12/17(New year eve..) came to my room to ask me check out as i am slight late already although on first day the reception didnt inform me the timings anyways. So he came to ask me go down right away and he won't charge me a single cent ,at that time was 2.05pm already. So i quickly packed and went down before 230pm. The other staffs at reception counter charged me the late check out fee as i was already Over 2pm. But look, the uncle came at 2.05 telling me to go down& wont charge me. So i actually find the hotel have no honest policy. And staff were slight rude too when this matter flared up.
