Bad location and dirty room”
The location is far from Kyoto station, you need to walk ~20 mins to the station and there is no many shops nearby. Also the room is dirty and you can easily see lot of dust. Air-condition is not cold.

Good for backpacker”
I stayed here for 1 night. The room was quite old but clean. This hotel is far from metro station. I had to walk around 15 mins to Kyoto station but it's OK if you are a backpacker.

Small but good to stay”
The room is just nice for 2 futtons, with small private toilet and some spaces for TV, small table, and luggage. It's near some bus stops and Kyoto Station. Overall is comfortable. Just that it's a bit confusing for the first time, as the ryokan has many buildings.

Nice stay and good service ”
Clean room and cozy traditional Japanese environment. although the room is relatively small but it's convenient to hang around and very good staff here. Recommend to 3-4 day travellers in Kyoto.

Ryokan with little access to facilities”
The luggage deposit area, the check-in area, the dining area and the ryokans are divided into a few houses. We were told that there is a water and coffee area which we did not manage to find it throughout our 3 days stay. There are 2 storeys in the ryokan. My ryokan was in the 2nd storey and the wooden stairs are very narrow which makes it difficult for us to carry our luggages to the 2nd floor. So we requested for a ground floor ryokan. However, there was no bathroom attached to it. The toilet was located outside the ryokan in the open area and the hot water takes a long time to heat up. Not recommend to stay during winter season and family with young kids.

Great if you're prepared for a 'Hostel' like vibe. ”
I spent 5 nights as a solo traveler. I knew I was going to be out and about most of the time. It wouldn't be the kind of accommodation I'd spend too much time at other than for sleeping. The rooms are private, but you're going to be interacting with the other guests a lot. Be prepared for going to bed at midnight and getting up at six, the moment the other guests start moving about. AND BRING AN EYE MASK! I'm really glad I did, otherwise all the extra light would have kept me awake. Otherwise, I was really impressed with the kitchen facilities, the bathroom. Only negative to the room was that there was a lingering cigarette smell. I didn’t bother complaining to the staff about it – a guest before me broke the rules and ruined it for everyone. So, as long as you going in expecting more of a ‘hostel’ like environment, you’re going to have a fine time. If you’re expectations are above that, perhaps look somewhere else. Location was great, easy walking distances to all the useful bus stops

Not convenient ”
Location is quite far from the main street. We came in with 2 big luggages and we stayed on the 2nd floor where we have to carry our luggages up to our room which is not convenient at all. The heater takes a long time to finally heat up the room.

There are payable amenities which is usually some agoda hotel include. So next time should bring own”
The staff is very helpfull but the location is rather confusing. We walk for 1,5 hours to find the place. Tips: Nagomi ryokan location is on the right side from Kyoto station exit using elevator.

No Frills Traditional Ryokan in a convenient location”
If you are not after a five-star experience, Nagomi Ryokan Yuu is a no-frills traditional Japanese Ryokan in a Machiya (traditional wooden house). It has all the basic amenities (Tatami, Futon, Communal bath etc), a small restaurant that serves breakfast (at an extra cost) and a communal kitchen if you want to cook your own food. Staff are super friendly and have superb English skills. The Ryokan's location, half way between Kyoto station and Nishiki Market, makes it the perfect base to explore the city.

room was smelly and not a great experience.”
Room smells really awkward and when i said this problem to reception they implied that smell is because of new bamboo mat but it is unbearable. not a ryokan experience i was expecting. it is a hotel in a good place but not a good in it. typical house covered with modern items.

Family with 2+ children in Asia, heads up.”
I did a last minute booking, was the closest place I could find to the Kyoto station. Very original construction yet clean. The issue is that I booked two rooms to fit my family of five. Found out they split us into two different buildings (each one has a different listing in this site). They run 3 buildings in the same block. We did not feel safe in the area and decided to sleep all together in just one of the rooms. Yet got charged for the two rooms. Felt cheated. Lesson learned, if travelling with 2 or more children, call ahead to confirm the arrangements.

Ideal for solo female travelers ”
I stayed for a few nights in the small solo room and found it is a perfect compromise between a modern hotel and a ryokan. I had ensuite bathroom which is really convenient, and the tatami room, being small and no frills, did not feel stuffy or gloomy, as there was a window to the courtyard. I personally love sleeping in a futon, but those who prefer a fluffy mattress beware. The staff was friendly and the breakfast very tasty, served in a breezy room facing a courtyard. It was lovely overall, keep it up!

Nice but...”
Staff was friendly, nevertheless it was not good value for money. Breakfast definitely overpriced and less tasty then in other ryokans; paper walls between rooms are ok as long as your neighbours respect basis rules- so rather expect being in the middle of night discussions, alarm ringing for a long time etc... Like a dormitory standard

room style and staff
we went to the address given by this website but it was not the actual hotel, we asked the crew where is the hotel the problem no one can understand us. we called the hotel but we can not go through them. we asked around where exactly the hotel but no one can understand us (we spoke english). Until we walk to an alley perpendicular to the hotel address given in this site, we saw nagomi ryokan sign, there we enter the compound, the staff were friendly and apologetic. the room was clean and wide. they asked us if we want to eat breakfast (additional fee applies) so we asked for the menu but there's only one menu available for breakfast so we said no.

Overhyped”
The authentic room, private bath and neighbourhood environment
I didn't feel that the staff were particularly helpful. They were just doing their job. We had stayed in 4 hotels in our 9 days in Japan and Nagomi Ryokan Yuu was a one-night stay for a ryokan experience. Out of the 4 hotels, Nagomi Ryokan Yuu had the lowest level of service: 1) The luggage delivery service was comparatively expensive. The lady took measurements of our luggage but it seemed they didn't matter at all. Each luggage was ¥1700 regardless of sizes. I used Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku's luggage delivery service and the bigger one only cost me about ¥1500 while the smaller one was ¥1380. 2) I had hoped to wear a yukata but the ryokan only tied up with one yukata rental company and it was fully booked. I was under the impression that the guests could use the ryokan's yukata rental service when they arrive but apparently you need to book in advance, before you reach the ryokan. 3) The hotel charged an extra ¥1000 per night for my child who shared the bed. I wouldn't have thought much about it except that the two other hotels that I had booked also listed 2 adults as maximum occupancy but didn't charge that extra ¥1000 per night. 4) On seeing that I had a young child and an elderly with me, I was shocked that the ryokan went ahead and took us to a room that required a steep climbing of ladder (not steps) to get to the beds! The ryokan did change to a more user friendly room for us upon request but I thought it would have been more common-sense not to even introduce us to the room. Overall, we didn't enjoy the stay because of the lacklustre service. Nice and quiet environment though.
