Pros: decoration is quite nice, staff is quite friendly, has swimming pool for small kids as well Cons: noisy, bad sea view due to construction sites right in font of the hotel. Had to walk far to reach the beach. Cleanliness is not up to a 4-star-hotel standard. Double room is small compared to others of the same star-standard. Room curtain not wide enough to cover all the window, you will see lots of light at night, annoying for sleeping. Look ugly outside. Bad gym equipment Conclusion: expensive for the services and facilities it provides

Bad Behavior of Staff Manager ”
From April 8 to 11th 2018, I stayed with a delegation of Japanese business men and my translator. We rented a room for myself and my translator, including morning breakfast. But because I wanted to have my own privacy, I decided to rent my own room without morning breakfast. On the first morning, the hotel staff didn’t allow me to have breakfast, saying that my room didn’t include that privilege, to which I took time to explain my case and saying I have a double booking. On the 2nd morning, I was greeted by a manager that didn’t even take time to introduce himself to me…but started right away by attacking me verbally and finger-pointing me with these words : “If you raise your voice, I will walk away” , which stuns me , then he continued by saying “I don’t have time, don’t play this game with me” (and repeat those offensive words a few times). Dear hotel manager, as an person, your words express such lack of respect to your customers, but more so it shows how low regards you have

We loved the service at this hotel. We had a beautiful room that had a lovely view.”
The hotel itself, staff and location was good. The drawback was the construction that was happening across the street. Developing a gigantic water park across the street was not a good decision by the community of Ha Long Bay. The Novatel is in the middle of this development. Everything else that the hotel had to offer was great. We would stay there again.

Excellent hotel and a very comfortable stay. We were only there for one night after touring Halong Bay and had a pleasant stay. The hotel was very good value for money. There is extensive construction works being undertaken in the sourounding areas which unfortunately ruined what otherwise would have been a phenomenal view of the bay and pool. Excellent breakfast and staff.

The facilities were brilliant - from the food (breakfast and diner) to the room (especially the sea view) to the friendly and helpful staff. The only downside is the groups of Korean tourists that forget - or do not care - that they are not in South Korea. From spitting on the pool deck, touching the food with their hands and then putting it back at the breakfast buffet, vomiting in the lobby, pushing customers in the elevators, etc. Typical Korean culture - "Sparkling!"
