After Bangkok we travelled to Koh Tao by bus and boat which was a very unfortunatelly trip with a 6 hours delay. Our planned arrival was 3 PM, but we reached the island after 9 PM only. I saw on the internet, that the latest check-in time 9 PM, so I worried a little bit about it, but it was total unnecessarily because after I contact the hotel they sent staff to pick us up from the pier for free. Otherwise the reception was open all night long. We booked a superior room with balcony, which was a very nice and huge room. The hotel is located on a cliff, which gives for the all property an amazing view, It has also two private beaches, one sandy beach with the restaurant and one with huge rocks and with a perfect spot to snorkelling. We got also a kayak from the hotel (for hotel guests is free). The breakfast was good with a very large selection of asian (I guess chinese) food
Nice location but rooms for improvement ”
One of the best location with sandy beach on one side and snorkeling coral beach on other. However, the staffs are severely undertrained for 4 stars resort. Lots of them seems to act upon order with no sense of duty or responsibility. Don’t expect a service or hospitality beyond basic thing.
We have been at the sai daeng resort for 3 nights and it was the best experience!! The room has perfect view, quiet enviroment, lovley and very helpful stuff. The location is just perfect between two different beaches (and a lot to see under water!!) The resort has a tranfer to two central locations a few times a day which was very comfortarble at the mornings and at dinner time. We definitely recomend this resort and will absolutely come back as soon as we can!!
Simple yet elegant. Great for relaxing!!”
I have been to many hotels in Thailand recently and this was one of my favorites. The views of the ocean are phenomenal. I also felt like I had complete privacy in my room. All of the staff were very helpful. I was also delighted to see workers cleaning the debris off of the beach every day. That made the beach feel clean and enjoyable. I would love to stay here again.
Amazing Beauty, felt like a different place to the rest of Koh Tao”
We had the deluxe ocean view and it was just stunning waking up to the rolling waves every morning from our huge bed. The staff were amazing and even arranged for free flowers on our anniversary. The infinity pool and it's bar is definitely worth a try, the cocktails are delicious. If you only speak English then say "khem khem" to make them strong 😂
Great hotel - bad breakfast & food”
This is a beautiful hotel with a great potential. Rooms are big & beautiful ("see view" at the C section). Beautiful infinity pool. Beautiful beach and amazing snorkeling site. Free kayaks!!! (other hotels charge for kayaks...). The shuttle service is very convenient and free as well. BUT the food is bad!!! Its like a 2 star hotel breakfast :( there is NO coffee machine! once they told us that they are out of lime and another day they had no more fruits...I must tell that the staff was good and they did their best but food must be upgraded if they want to call themselves a 5 (even 4) star hotel...
Fab beachfront room & great snorkelling!”
Enjoyed 2 nights at the Sai Daeng Resort. The room was lovely. We had a great balcony with views of the ocean and stars at night. We booked a beachfront room, as we were traveling with our inflatable paddle boards, and wanted to have easy access to the beach and storage for the paddle boards. The resort provides free shuttles from the ferry to the resort (on arrival), and then back into town if you want to go out for dinner. Snorkelling was great - we saw reef sharks and a turtle, plus fish. The coral isn't great - but very good for Thailand - but the water is clear. Recommend paddling out to Shark Island, I think the resort rents out kayaks or you can take a boat trip. They also provide free snorkelling equipment if you don't have your own. Enjoyed breakfast in the terrace restaurant, and cocktails down by the beach. Friendly and helpful staff. There's lots of stairs at the resort, so just make sure you're ok with that. Lovely location, and would definitely go back :).
Excellent for Visual Enjoyment & Mental Relax”
- Very good location, choose rooms with seaview is a must _ Clean and Prviate Beach _ Resturant and Bar with best view _ Young and Nice Service Team _ must spend to walk around the hotel site, remeber to go to the Lookout Point _ swiming pool with good view, remember go to zone B to try the water slide Warm Reminder - Free shuttle at 20:00-22:30, better to have dinner near the pier - Many stairs and slope to walk inside this site, consider is must if you go with elderly - no shop inside this site, suggest to buy many drinks and snacks near the pier before you take the free shuttle bus to checkin - free to use the tools for snorkeling and little boat. Using them to gain many fun!
We stayed for 2 weeks in Sai Daeng and we simply loved it. Beautiful location, beautiful view, lovely bay, great design/style of the appartements, super nice staff, fun snorckling, great coconut shakes :-) We booked beach front appartements and we loved them! We had appartement D1-2 and D3-2, we highly recommend them. In D1-2 you have more privacy (because of some trees), in D3-2 you have a bigger view, so see what suits you. The food is a bit expensive (compared to food in the village) but there's a free shuttlebus every night to the village so you can go out for diner. And there's also a lovely beach bar next to Sai Daeng with a nice menu and decent prices where you can walk to. We simply had an amazing holiday and I absolutely recommend Sai Daeng resort, it's a little paradise on earth. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Much love xx
Tropical storm Pabuk - yet the experience was fantastic ”
We stayed for 11 days during storm Pabuk. The staff were unbelievable in terms of looking after us, bringing us food, moving us when necessary and generally being so friendly anyway aside from the storm...
Love it! Will come back. ”
Truly enjoy our stay there! Stayed in the Deluxe Ocean View Villa, spotted a couple of Blacktip Reef Shark early morning right there on the Sai Deang Beach from our balcony. Enjoy a glorious sunrise at the viewpoint near the Eagle Nest Villa just a few steps from our villa. We kayak (provided free by resort) to Aow Leuk and Thian Og Bay. Friendly and helpful staff. Only drawback is the limited shuttle scheduled to town which is not a problem if you rent a bike to go around. Had an amazing time, will definitely come back.
Loved every minute!!!”
We loved every minute of our stay at the Sai Daeng Resort in Koh Tao. The resort is nestled up a hillside with majestic views on the ocean. The food was great and the accommodation clean. We stayed in a room overlooking the ocean and had a balcony where we could just enjoy every moment. We took a snorkelling day outing on the boat, which we arrange through the hotel. Transfer to town from the hotel is also free.
Dear Lizelle, It's a great pleasure for the entire Sai Daeng Team to read your review. We are delighted to see you had an amazing stay in our resort. Thank you again for taking on your time to share your experience and give your feedback. All the personnel was very happy to be at your service. Thank you. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Kindest regards, General Manager
Couple on honeymoon recommends room B5”
We were a couple on honeymoon and we have mixed feelings about this hotel. It is far from the center and it is very difficult to get there by your own, but the hotel does everything to help you with this, and let you use a free shuttles from the port and back, and to the center as well. Problem is that the hours are specific and not always suits your needs. The view from the room is unbelievable - ocean, sun, especially from room B5 where you can see the sunrise, amazingly beautiful!!! You can use the free hotel snorkeling equipment, fish are gorgeous there. The restaurant in the hotel is not so good - the service is very slow and not once they have forgotten to write down our order, and we were waiting too long for it. Dishes are small and not so tasty, and since you have nothing near by - you mainly eat in this restaurant. Cellular reception is not good at all, the hotel's WIFI also not good. The Spa in this hotel is VERY expensive, also too many stairs in the hotel.
Nice stay to relax”
We stay 5 nights in a family suite with view on the sea, and it was amazing! Very nice room, and a great location. Nice and very friendly staff, good breakfast and restaurant .They have a free shuttleservice from the pier and they have a service to go to the center everyday. Great holiday Unfortunately we have to pay extra for a few things that was for free in the minibar. once check out we have to pay this, despite being mentioned as free. That was very unfortunate to leave...
Lovely hotel at a great spot”
Really loved our stay here and appreciated the snorkeling right off the hotel. Room was nice with a great location right beside the pool. Only issue we had was the parking. We drove in on a motorbike. The parking was way at the top of the hill. Staff parking was at a great spot right beside reception. The hotel has golf carts to take guests to their rooms but would not take us up the hill. Great place to stay if you don’t plan on leaving. Could fix this by allowing guests to use staff parking or by providing transport to the top of the hill.
Fantastic resort in a fantastic location”
Great snorkeling and kayaking at your doorstep. Quite beach and a great restaurant. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Spa is very overpriced and I would not recommend using the voucher provided. It would be nice if they provided transport to the parking lot from your room as the walk is very hard.
Excellent pick in Koh Tao!”
This hotel had everything I could hope for and more. The room was great and the view from the balcony was simply stunning. The beach where the hotel is located is in my opinion the best in the island. Breakfast is good and served at the beach. You use the hotel's kayaks to explore the beaches and snorkeling sites close to the hotel, which are pretty cool. The pool and pool bar are also great. The only downside is that Sai Daeng is kinda far from the city center, about a 15 minute drive. The hotel provides a free transfer to the city a few times a day. You can also ask for the reception to call you a taxi at anytime (which will be considerably overpriced - 500 baht) or you can also rent a scooter for about 200 baht per day, which will allow you to visit every spot in the island.
Great location but in need of improvements ”
The resort is situated at a great location over looking shark island with nice beach and clear water for snorkeling. It’s a good place for some quiet get away for couples but not for families or old people because of the long flight of stairs around the resort. Restaurant food and breakfast is nothing fantastic. Towels in the room have strange smell. WiFi speed is slow. We were surprised that the resort do not have any first aid kit for minor injuries. They seriously have to look into that.
Breathtaking views, great staff and the BEST snorkeling spots!”
My husband and I stayed at Sai Daeng for 5 nights for our honeymoon. Before booking I read 1 or 2 reviews mentioning unfriendly staff, and I have to say the first thing that struck me was just how friendly and helpful the staff actually were, from collecting us at the pier to seeing us off when we checked out. Sai himself even popped down to breakfast to greet some of the guests each morning which made the experience a little more personal which was great. A special shout-out has to go out to Tata! Thanks for the many delicious Mai Tais at the pool bar and for being so welcoming and helpful to us. It was great meeting you! One of the best things about this resort has to be the free kayaking and snorkeling! The beach is also well maintained and cleaned everyday. The free breakfast was good too, and every day our mini fridge was topped up with new bottled water. The only thing we found a little strange was the limited amount of pool towels, only 40 a day? Other than that a superb stay!
The views are breath taking!”
Sai Deng is a great resort, frequently you will see Sai the owner walking g the resort and checking on guests. This is a treat as he is a fun loving old guy. The rooms are amazing! The staff go out of their way to be helpful and make you feel welcome. On the cons side- the slide was not in working order which was a let down. The resturant has very poor food. Visit the coral view resort to eat on the beach which is cheaper and much tastier. The pool is a real gem of the resort- but the bar was not frequently open during the advertised hours. Which was disappointing. Snorkling on the beach is amazing with sharks, coral and loads of fish to be seen. Snorkling gear and kayaks included for guests! Steep roads and high taxi costs so invest in a scooter if you brave enough so you can explore the island easily. Definitely worth taking the half day tour for snorkling- value for money and great treat in the national park at the end. Overall - I would definitely go back!
