The Capital 20 West property looks exactly as pictured. Our stay was really good and relaxing. The staff is wonderful and is very helpful. With our stay we purchased the option that included breakfast and it was pretty good. Very spacious place and housekeeping did a good job cleaning everyday. Location is not too bad, but would suggest a rental car or you can take Uber everywhere with no issues. I would recommend it.
Good but not so good.”
The staff is awesome!!! The food is good. Great gym. The room is very small and you kind of feel as if your bed is in the corridor. They offered an other room, not so much different. I could hear the people in the room next to mine. Spent my last day on a tour as I had a late night flight.. I was offered a room to shower upon my return :)) The price Agoda advertises for the airport pickup is not correct. Actuel price is 500zar.
Clean,Conveniently located to Sandton, Manager a cut above . ”
The manager went out of her way to get me transport to th Gautrain station when the shuttle did not show. Perhaps the staff at front desk could have been more observant and proactive but on the whole I would stay there again
I was at The Capital 20 West from Friday until Sunday. The Friday staff was amazing in my checking in. The Staff that took over for Saturday nightshift was very abusive to my guest following the incident that happened with the booking of other room.
Always a good choice. Its been around for awhile and I've stayed here numerous times. Its starting to experience some wear but the management is ever-changing and always trying to get things right. TVs are getting dated and furniture starting to wear. But all in all its a nice, secure and clean place to stay. Good free parking, spacious accommodation (apart from the so called standard room which is a concrete matchbox), decent meals, nice shuttle (shared amongst the Capital Group). You really can't go wrong with 20 West. They need to be more flexible with their check-in times and try more to accommodate early arrivals
perfect place to stay”
at first i reserved this hotel for 4 days but i have to be in johannesburg for a week. after 4 days i found it very good hotel so i prefered stay there for rest of days i have to be in johannesburg. nice place, warm people, best location near to nelson mandela square by taxi around 5 min.
Value for money, great hotel. Clean neat . Great location

location superb ,room clean but very small
good hotel but room very small and location good, dont have halaal food in the hotel
Overall very pleasant”
Pros: the one bedroom apartment is very spacious. A 8 minute walk to Benmore shopping centre for self catering stuff. Pleasant staff, nice gym and pool. Cons: none if you have a car or use uber to get around.
It was a short stay and we got this on a 50% off special, but the 2 bed apartments were amazing with high end appliances. Just a heads up, when I booked the 2 bed apt, it showed a unit with 2 rooms and a kitchen with an island. When I got to the room it was 2 connected units of a 1 bed with kitchen and another 1 bed. Each had their own bathroom so it was really nice but I had hoped for the island the pictures originally showed. Staff was really great and very nice.
Me and my wife had a wonderful a week long anniversary getaway from Tanzania. We were picked at the Airport by driver names Maxwell who the hotel sent for us. He was charming and friendly and we decided that we will only use him during the week which turned out to be the best option, he was reasonable costly, he took us a day long Soweto tour which we got to see all the historic sites plus Hector Peterson Museum plus bungee jump site which used to be old electrical generator plant. The apartments did not have a hotel fee to us as we purchased all our food and drink and made our own breakfast and dinner, we enjoyed the privacy and quietness the apartments brought. Overall at first this looked to be expensive but it was all worth every penny, my wife had such a wonderful time and we will definitely recommend to our friends and family to stay at the hotel.
We will be back!”
Excellent hotel with large modern suite. Very clean, quite and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Complimentary laundry, free parking, and all the comforts you could wish for. We will defintely be returning.
Well presented rooms”
I found this hotel to be very well presented & staff were very helpful. Nice pool and pleasant atmosphere. Very security conscious so i always felt safe. Very nice and reasonably priced restaurant below. Whilst small, the room boasted tasteful and modern furnishings. The hotel is situated close enough to walk to shopping centers including Nelson Mandella square.
Lovely hotel, nice and secured but small rooms.”
20 west is a lovely hotel to stay, very reasonably priced, located at up market area of Sandton, 15 mins walk from main Rivonia Rd. 15 mins drive to Nelson Mandela Square, very vourteous and pleasant staff only turn off was that rooms were smaller, otherewise a fab place to stay!
Good Business Hotel & Internet.”
I liked the room, staff, food and beverage. The Internet connecttivity was good for South Africa.Secuity was at a very high level. Let down by transport service which dropped me at the wrong airport despite me telling him specifically which one I wanted to go to.I was then charged again to take me to the right one. This caused me to miss my flight and have to buy another air fare as well as waste 5 hours waiting for the next flight. The situation was made worse because the hotel receptionest said she told the driver the wrong airport because she did not know that there were two
the apartment is located in sandton very close to nelson mandela square and only a 25 min drive from the airport. the facilities, gym and swimming pool are great. the dining and food was equally good and well priced. the room was smaller than it looked in the pictures but since i was only staying for one night, it was perfectly comfortable. the rooms could have been quieter as noise filters in from the outside the staff was very friendly. the hotel does charge a refundable deposit which is almost 5 times the rental for the room which seemed a little pointless. overall i would recommend it.
Reasonable place. But room was average . In my ooinion”
I can’t complain except for price. The room was clean and the bed nice but it was small and uninviting. It was a room to only sleep in. But the price was suggestive of something else. The food was also extremely over priced for the quality. I have stayed in much nicer places in Johannesburg for cheaper. I would add that I have never ever complained about a hotel before and don’t normally bother to complete these reviews I only did so because I feel quite shocked at the price
Over Priced and Under Delivered”
I booked four rooms for one night on a recent business trip, based on the recommendation of Agoda and the "discounted rate" of R1000+ per night. The rooms were all tiny, accessed from a dark hallway with no windows except into the hallway. So once inside you either left the blind open to the hallway for anyone walking past to see in or closed them and sealed off all natural light. The shower ceiling had mildew on it, the safe didn't work and the TV was a cheap monitor which made all the images blurry. Additionally, breakfast was not included in the price which added another R200 per person. I have traveled all over South Africa and this was terrible value for money.
