Great location, nice people and nice garden”
I enjoyed my 4 nights at the Lions Guest House a lot! Very nice guesthouse in top location near the Table Mountain and Signal Hill, but also just 200 meters away from the great bar "Power and Glory" and with many restaurants within walking distance. My room was a little noisy due to the busy road in front of the house - but the Advantage to be close to everything clearly outweigh this. In addition, there is a nice and quiet garden in the backyard whith a beautiful Table Mountain view. Staff was very nice and helpful too! I would love to come back soon!
Excellent staff with communication ”
It's a place to be with no noise and excellent room setup
Wonderful location to stay”
The Lions in Cape Town is a wonderful little guesthouse in a great part of Cape Town. The leopard room had a private bathroom with toiletries provided and a good shower. There was a small tv, as well as a mini-fridge, and a safe to store all our valuables. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The wifi was good as well. The area is quite nice and the owners outlined to us the areas that were safe to walk in at night. It was only a 5 minute uber ride to the Table Mountain cableway, and Bree and Kloof Street are a short walk away. Breakfast is not included in the price but can be purchased for 120 ZAR a day and is worth it - a delicious fruit plate and an egg dish, along with coffee and juice.
Service Excellence beyond expectations”
I’ve never experienced a more welcomed stay, thank you so much. Place itself is spotless and inviting, I definitely felt at home. I had a pleasant stay – much better than I ever expected. Will definitely be rating this establishment quite generously. Thank you again Lions guest house, specifically Mufaro and Antony, will definitely look up Lions Guest House whenever im in town again, and will refer to friends and family. Well done Lion's guest House!, very few establishments I’ve been to can compare to your level of service!
Traffic noise, smallest bathroom ever, confused interior
Cannot fault this amazing guesthouse, staff so friendly and helpful, amazing breakfasts every morning and clean rooms daily. Cannot recommend enough!!! Thanks so much!
Emma, Thank you very much for taking the time to review our property. It is always heartwarming to hear that our guests experiences were positive. We hope you enjoyed your trip to South Africa.
The staff here are very friendly! I would totally recommend the breakfasts, Marrietta is trained in French cooking. The house is very beautiful and is centrally located with easy access to the CBD, V&A Waterfront, Signal Hill and Table Mountain. There are also great cafes and restaurants in this area. The backyard is a great place to chill out. They are working on upgrading the front yard and main gate.
Perfect accommodation for acity trip. Outstanding staff, very helpful and accommodating every wish you have.
Great B&B with lovely staff.”
The Lions is in a good location - close (5 min walk) to some excellent restaurants & bars on Kloof St. And easy walk into CBD & Bo Kaap/ De Waterkant. Bit of an uphill pull coming back but true of most hotels in Tamberskloof. We were in the Lion room which was pleasingly decorated and very, clean, comfortable & spacious. The bathroom was also clean & a decent size. Where the Lions excelled was the staff. They couldn't have been more welcoming or generous but we're not intrusive either. Breakfast was served whatever time we liked & was absolutely excellent. The most delicious fruit, beautifully presented and then whatever we wanted cooked for us or we could help ourselves to toast, jams, cereals & yoghurt. We would definitely stay again. Also the wifi is great!
Charming guest house and amazing staff”
Very nice guest house with an attentive and dedicated staff. Mariette and her colleagues made all the efforts to make our stay unforgettable ! The house is just next to Kloof, a vibrant street full of nice restaurants, and Table Mountain / Lion Head ! Perfect for nature lovers, hikers and rock climbers willing to have the best of 2 worlds. Highly recommended
Lovely people and amazing breakfast ”
The service and hospitality at the lions was excellent. It's in a great location for kloof street restaurants, table mountain and lion's head. We kept changing our booking dates but they were flexible and accommodating throughout, so our stay was very relaxing. The breakfast was truly delicious - I'd recommend it even in an area where there are great places to eat out.
Good place to stay ”
Clean nice comfy bed place, super friendly people .
The Guest House was in a really nice location to Kloof and we could easily walk down to a lot of restaurants as well as down to Long Street. The place is very quiet and peaceful and even though it is next to a busy road, we never heard any cars or noise. The house is very nice and the bathroom was also very nice. A proper big shower and a big bed.
Had a 2night stay here, location is okay, close to table mountain. The appartment is to be recommended. Friendly staff
A great place to stay while visiting cape town”
From before I arrived in Cape Town I received excellent service as I emailed the guest house for them to arrange an airport pick up for me which they did, complimentary. When I arrived I was greeted with friendliness and a lot of help from the duty managers, one even went to the shop to buy me some water as I was very tired from travelling. The Whale room was compact, but clean and comfortable and had a great view of Table Mountain. We liked the fact that there was a guest kitchen we could use, including a washing machine! We were given vouchers for our breakfasts at Arnold's restaurant, which were amazing, and we also went there for dinner! All in all it was a very enjoyable stay at The Lions Guest House.
Tony in CT”
Uncomfortable - traffic and other guests very noisy. No tv in room.
Great guest house owned by super friendly family”
We stay there for 9 nights. And it was a pleasant stay. This guest house is centrally located to shops, supermarkets and restaurants. Only 10 minute walk to Long Street. With breakfast, they give you vouchers that you can you in a restaurant/café called Arnold's close to the guest house. Each voucher worth R50 (US$5). If you go over $5, you just pay the difference. And the receptionists were very friendly and helpful. If you come across any problem, just let them know. They fix it straight away.
Average B&B - OK for shortstay”
It was a OK B&B. It was good because it had a separate entrance to our unit. Simple basic. We were disappointed to see that the house keeping did not include washing basic washing of a coffee cup or wine glass. We had to do it ourselves for 2 nights. Bathroom basin was too small. We couldn't figure out where to put our toiletry bag.
Located in a great area. Many good restaurants and shops nearby. Nice clean rooms.
A safe haven close to Long Street”
I stayed for week to watch the Cricket Match involving Australia and South Africa. The Guest House is only 20 minutes walk from the train station and less than 10 minutes from the bars and restaurants on Kloof and Long Streets. I found the area safe to walk around in the evenings. The breakfast down the hill at Arnolds was superb. If I return I might stay in one of the rooms in the floor above as the "Garden view" rooms have a few big steps to negotiate due to it being built on a hill. A bit more attention to cleaning and emptying bins in the room more regularly would bring a further improvement. Good value for money when everything is taken into consideration.
