A nice quiet room. Great price. Welcomed with a smile at reception.
It's just OK”
We stayed there for 2 nights and it was clear that the priority for the hotel was the coach tour business. On returning to our room on our second day at 4:30 the room had not been cleaned. Our room was close to the Leisure it was comfortable and clean but having a smoking point just outside the window was a huge disappointment so could not leave the window open. There was plenty of hot water (albeit brown in colour) a problem that was blamed on the County Council. Breakfast options were good both hot and cold and the service there was good. Food in the bar was definitely Missable!!!! The location is as described a way out of Town, 5-10 minute drive and or a 30 minute walk. Plenty of car parking.
The Irish staff, including the Duty Manager seemed to be woefully undertrained. Lots of clumsy errors, constantly apologizing The Foreign (Polish?) staff seemed far more in tune with the catering industry and how to deal with people Employ more Polish staff, please
It was educational to watch the different approaches to work by the Irish and Polish duty managers over a few days at the Auburn. The Irish guy was all bluster and importance. All 'Sir this and Sir that ' The Polish duty Manager was far more relaxed. A ready smile and was able to make time for Sir whenever Sir had a quety for him . The Irish staff could really learn a lot by watching the Poles at work. In the kitchen for brekfast, an irish waitress spotted me approach in my wheelchair and turned on her heel. She really could not be bothered helping out A guest, sat by the kitchen door, witnessed this and got up to help me. So less of the formal Sir, Sir, Sir and a bit more welcome esp in the Irish staff would have gone a long way in making this an enjoyable stay
Breakfast & the Lounge Area needs a make over - get rid of the Red Crazy carpets”
Why do you not improve the Breakfast and lounge, its very dated all that old mahogony furniture (1980's), it needs a makeover. Get a modern Interior Designer in. Pain & Wallpaper and sanding down what you have or do Sloan Paint job(re-loved furniture is in) Lighten the colour and put wallpaper on the walls. I found the area totally congested with people . . It was impossible to get a table. It should be re-designed and expanded. Improve the quality of the offering, food wise. I had coffee in the bar with toast and it was ok. The room was clean and comfortable. ( I think there should be deals where you include breakfast - What happened to the great Irish Breakfast & Welcome ????????) Trying to get my suitcases to the 500+ room space was a bit of a nighmare as the doors dont open, you need to get doors and open the springs, and leave them open. You have to open loads of door from reception, there should be a long corridor and fewer doors. No one to carry cases?
Bedroom noisy and needed refurbishment.
A lovely hotel that still retains its ambience and traditional decor. The glowing fire is a hot spot that was quickly sought upon arrival followed by a decent glass of sauvigon blanc that is hard to get in hotels these days. Cheers!
We enjoyed ourselves
Staff at this location were very friendly. Room was good for the price and breakfast was great.
Free Wi-Fi in all rooms!
