Location was central. A staff member of the kitchen was very arrogant at the breakfast. ”
Staff member of kitchen very arrogant and rude towards my partner at breakfast on the day we left being 11 Jan. Shower was leaking and splashing water all over. Some staff quite friendly. Also I sent an email regarding the difference in prices to what was quoted on the site (R556) and what was deducted (R768) and still waiting on response. Correspondening to clients terrible. Also was not aware that breakfast was included until making enquiries.

Inexpensive hotel in the center of Cape Town”
The hotel generally was good though the room was rather small (especially the bath room). Nevertheless I liked my corner room with a rounded corner although it was a relatively noisy place at night. The wi-fi worked fine although I needed to re-enter the password every time I connected. The breakfast was good as well as with a lot of to eat: meat, eggs, vegetables, fruits, pastry ect. It would provide you with the energy for half of the day. Also do not forget a rooftop terrace with beautiful view of the city. On the negative side: one of the elevators did not work for all 5 days that I stayed.

I loved its location, can say the longstreet is the heart of city, nice big room i got, veru spacious, Terrace was accessible from room, clean balconies. Nice cooperating staff. Breakfast was gd, but more vegan options can be added, a cleaning staff should be available in evening too. Lift needs maintenance, it makes alot of noise. Adding some kids channels in tv list can be good, evening time kids can get a change as there's no play area for kids.

          10 out of 10!”
I must admit I was at first hesitant to book here as it was not part of the hotel group I usually use but when we arrived, I was very impressed with the reception area and thought "okay if the rooms are half this good then i'll be happy". Nolene at reception was absolutely fab, lovely friendly smile and nature and very accomodating btw. The rooms were are even bigger surprise, very clean, stunning view, spacious and the beds comfortable. The next morning I took a walk looking for a bank and there was one a few metres from the hotel with a shopping centre also a few metres away. So overall, a 10 for Cape Diamond Hotel! Looking forward to visiting again soon.

          AVOID. Extremely poorly run hotel”
The first problem started before my trip even began. I recieved a message saying that my credit card was not valid and that i should contact my bank and update my credit card details. I didnt need to do that as a check online showed tbat the hotel had already taken full payment some weeks before. I informed the hotel directly of this but recieved no reply, and then recieved another message saying the same thing. After my 3rd message i eventually recievieved a reply confirming that the payment had been recieved, but no apology for the inconvenience caused. The second problem happened at check in. Travelling with my 13 year old daughter we always book and confirm twin rooms (2 beds). We had done this with this hotel and were disapointed to be sent to a tiny double room on the top floor (even the elevator didnt go up as far as this floor). We complained but were told that we "should have" specified that we wanted a twin room. When i showed the booking clearly stating we had booked a room

          Good value for money”
I stayed at this hotel for two nights. After reading reviews from other patrons about the elevator and street noise, I requested a top floor room away from the elevator. On the day of my check-in I was not given a top-floor room but a second floor room away from the elevator had been reserved for me. Nonetheless, I was happy with the room and it was quiet. Breakfast is a full spread and the staff are all friendly and welcoming. The restaurant/bar is quite nice to just chill and relax especially as a solo traveller. Good value for money especially if you get a booking discount. I will definitely visit again.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and they interacted well with our little one such that she enjoyed herself too. Convenient location. Safe parking. Only downside was the strict complimentary 100mb of wifi a day. That was tough in planning for our day etc.

          The Horrifying 1-hour check in.”
My girlfriend and I were traveling from a function in durbanville to an after party in the city so i decided to make a booking to stay at Cape Diamond because we were very pressed for time. I called 2 days after making the booking and 1 day before arrival to stress the importance of a speedy check in and to have my car sorted. When we arrived were greeted by being told that i didn’t book and that i had the wrong hotel but an hour later I had to email my booking and payment confirmation to them myself after which we were finally allowed to check in , missing almost half of the party due to negligence on the hotels part.

Genuine gem in the heart of the Cape Town City centre... ”
The Cape Diamond Hotel is indeed a little diamond situated in the heart of the Cape Town CBD. Within walking distance of all the restaurants and shops the city centre has on offer, but also a quick walk to the adjacent DE Waterkant/Green Point and the luxurious Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. The hotel boasts with friendly staff and a lovely relaxing breakfast and bar area. The newly created rooftop relaxing area gives splendid views of the city and Table Mountain. A nice addition to relax and watch the late summer sunsets with a sundowner in your hand... This hotel is a very centrally located gem. I had a beautiful stay...

          Central location, friendly staff.
I had a large room which was great since there are no views in the central district, and a smaller space would have seemed claustraphobic. It was very convenient for walking around main tourist sites and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the noise from outside and the lift shaft were problematic, and I would probably not stay here again. The parking was not convenient and they should ask you to book in busy times. It was also expensive and the price should be indicated on the booking site if you need parking. Best suited to low budget travellers without a car who want to be close to nightlife.

The location could hardly be better, right in the middle of downtown Cape Town. Great breakfasts with wonderful bacon and boerwors sausages.
Small rooms; slightly dodgy lifts (elevators); pricey wifi
overall, my wife and i enjoyed staying at the cape diamond. the breakfasts were great. living in the middle east, it was an enormous pleasure to tuck into really excellent smoked pork bacon. the breads were made on-site, so were very fresh. good choice of fruit juices and teas. make sure you try the rooibos, a south african herbal tea with tons of anti-oxidants. as for the room, it was a titch small, but it had a flat screen tv with international satellite channels available. on the 8th floor we had access to the wrap around balcony directly from our room. the bath was good sized and the water pressure quite impressive for being so high up. the bed was very comfortable as well. we would have appreciated a little more light at night, however. there was no ceiling light fixture and the bulbs in the lamps were pretty low wattage. although there was storage, there were no actual wardrobes or closets, but shelves and a clothing bar to hang things from; therefore, it was hard to store things out of sight. regarding the staff, they couldn't have been more helpful. and not once did anyone act as if they were doing us a favor, which is so often the case in n.america and europe. one guy noticed a young guy starting to hassle my wife and me while we sat at a table outside the hotel. he rushed out, chased the guy away, and read him the riot act in xhosa at the same time. he was not about to let anything untoward happen.

Hotel needs some renovations. But that did not impact on our enjoyment of the hotel
The Cape Diamond is centrally located in Cape Town. It is within walking distance of the main city attractions; the Company Gardens, Gold Museum,Green Square, near a Hop-on Hop-off pick up point, vibrant Long St with all its eateries and galleries. We had some trouble with a tour company and they sorted it all out for us. The front of house staff knew their local area well and gave us good local information. When a procedure was taking a little long, we were served coffee and tea.
