Traveler impressions of Ayers Rock (Uluru)

More about Ayers Rock (Uluru)

Located in the southern desert region of the Northern Territory known as the Red Center, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is a popular draw to the region. The area is well known for the rock formations of Uluru and Kata Tjuta, also respectively known as Ayers Rock and The Olgas. Reaching the area is possible via car or plane. Traveling by road takes about 4 to 5 hours from Alice Springs, and flights are serviced at Ayers Rock – Connellan Airport.

Travelers visiting Uluru are generally serviced by the small village of Yulara, also known as Ayers Rock Resort. Accommodation, dining, and shopping can all be had in between excursions to the surrounding region. These excursions would most certainly include a visit to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. The Cultural Center can provide some incredible insight into the sites visited or make for a great area to cool off when returning from the rocks. It will certainly be a welcome option after taking part in any of the many walks provided in the area, including the Uluru Base Walk, Liru Walk, and the Valley of the Winds Walk. Helicopter tours and camel rides add a new perspective to the experience, and being in one of the largest areas on earth with the least light pollution, astronomy walks will be spectacular.

Be sure to check out the interactive map of Uluru for information on hotel locations, attractions, and must-see destinations.
