Cambridge hotels & places to stay

Con(?): A little bit far away from the city center, which is only because it’s close to the Cambridge railway station so... this could actually be a pro especially if you’re visiting Cambridge the first time. Pros: clean rooms, clean bathroom, clean lobby, welcoming and helpful staff, quiet location with a tesco within walking distance.

We needed a stop over address to visit Cambridge with our dog. The Travelodge Hotel is just what we were looking for! Clean, affordable room, helpful staff, parking under the hotel for a fee of £6 a day and within 25 minutes walking distance from the town centre (or take the bus which practically stops in front of the hotel). We didn’t use the catering facilities but bought our own picnic brunch at the Tesco supermarket just round the corner. Highly recommend!

We were just looking for a good location close to Cambridge for an overnight in transit stay, having booked from Australia and not knowing the location or area it was a stab in the dark. But it turned out to be perfect, close enough to Cambridge to spend the day sightseeing and then return for a comfortable nights sleep, great shower. Next morning we had choices galore for breakfast the hotel itself or several restaurants next door including the good old Maccas. A bit tricky getting back onto the A14 heading north gave us inptromtu sightseeing.

We stayed for one night to break up our journey , unfortunately the bed had crumbs in it and the bathroom floor was very dirty. Not the standard I expect from Travelodge.

well recommend - great to experience staying at a college within Cambridge university; staff extremely welcoming and helpful upon general questions of where to eat etc; booked room only as plenty of eating options within walking distance; booked a private walking tour of the city directly online www.cambridgealive.co.uk - was excellent, professional with an accredited green badge tourist guide - hence well worth paying for

it does its job, we only needed a bed for a night, and hotels in cambridge can be expensive. the hotel was affordable, clean, quiet and the staff was friendly. if you just want a base then stay here but if your after some luxury then keep looking! if your a menber of david lloyd then take your gym kit because theres one next door!

Overall it is a great place except it is not for those who don't drive and with lots of luggage.... the place is about 25 mins walk from the train station, across the bridge. so either better to take a taxi or uber, but wait, there is no uber here... and taxi hotline doesn't pick up at 6am on Sat morning. So I have to carry the luggage up and down the stairs, to and from station... The place is far from Cambridge Uni, have to take the bus for 30mins. restaurants are not close by, better to eat around the train station before check in. The best thing is the owner is right next door and she is so sweet. the park across is great to take a walk. The room is clean, with my own bathroom. it can get little hot in there during May. The place is better for families, not solo travelers like me.

Interesting location (just the far side of the M11 from Cambridge, on Madingley Road) that I was unaware of despite living in Cambridge for a while. Very convenient for driving to the West side of Cambridge (computer lab, Grange Road area, etc.) The room didn't have any exciting extras (no fridge/bar, safe, etc., not that I'd expect them from a 3-star venue, though there was hot drink equipment and a fairly decent TV), which is why I'm not rating "facilities" higher, but was comfortable, warm and clean. There was a slight whiff of cabbage from the shower, but only before first use (probably the agricultural area rather than the hotel's fault). Nothing to complain about from me, although the floors were a little creaky, so anyone in the room below might be less happy with my wandering about. Given how expensive it is to stay (and park) in Cambridge usually, I'll certainly consider them again.

I am blessed choosing this guest house because the staff is really helpful. There were some changes in my plan trip and Andrew helps me a lot. If only I could give 6-star for the staff, I would give it to every staffs in the hotel. For short stay, everything is perfect. I do understand if some people think the cleanliness of the bathroom could be better, but it is not dirty. His house is so warm and I would recommend my friends to stay here. As I have browsed previously, the cost of the hotel in Cambridge is a bit expensive. So I bet this hotel is the best that I can choose to fulfil my needs

I traveled with a group of 2, and resided in a Family Room. We had made a prior request for early check-in (because of our flight arrival in the morning) as well as a request for a room on the lower floor. We were aware that the requests could not be guaranteed. However, very much to our surprise, the Staff at Arundel accommodated our requests and allowed us to check-in at about 10 in the morning and gave us a lovely room on the lower floor at the reception level. The room (No. 108) was very clean and neat, and importantly, comfortable - just like a home away from home, and the Staff was warm and friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. We have nothing but praise for Arundel and will certainly recommend Arundel to those traveling to Cambridge, London. On my part, I will surely return to Arundel whenever I visit Cambridge. Arundel - A 5 Star Hotel with a 5 Star Staff !!! Best Regards to Arundel !

All the staff was extremely friendly, warm and efficient. My check in and check out was super duper fast. Best ever encountered in my entire life. The facility was superb and location was perfect. I love IBIS Cambridge and eventhough it’s simple with basic facilities, it’s the best experience I had compared to other more renowned hotels. Kudos to the IBIS Cambridge staff and management. Keep up the good work. You’re the best.

Shower and linens very clean and location worked for me. However it was grotty decor, carpet and chairs/cushions seemed to come from decades ago and only to disguise stains, toilet flush broken and kept sticking in flushing position. Paintwork in bathroom damaged and skirting boards dusty as if never cleaned. Bedroom very cold and window draughty and let in lots of road noise. Noise from neighbouring rooms, other bathrooms and when other rooms doors and front door opened. Person on phone not at all clear about where to park on arrival; had to drive around for 25 minutes looking for a single yellow line to park on for the evening and night. I was lucky to be staying Saturday so could stay on yellow line Sunday while walking into Cambridge.

I was very impressed with the level of service in this hotel. ALL the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, no matter who you talked to or what the problem was. I even saw management out and around the hotel talking to guests and asking if they needed anything or how their stay was. I was told it was the only full service hotel in Cambridge, and they have 2 pools! - an indoor and an outdoor one. Both are quite big too, not the usual tiny little hotel pools that only 2/3 people can fit in. There is also a sauna, whirlpool, and fitness centre in the pool area.

The hotel is conveniently located next to the Whittlesford train station (right next door) which can take you into Cambridge in less than 10 minutes and also easily into London. The hotel breakfast is great in the morning before starting you day. It’s better to buy anything from the store before arriving the hotel, because there is grocery store around. The staff at the Holiday Inn are very helpful. The rooms are very clean and comfortable.

Used this hotel before and will be using again. Clean friendly and a fantastic breakfast. Large ensuite room, with tea and coffee. If you need a bit more, restaurant, bar, 24 hr reception etc. stay at the main hotel, 10 mins up the road. The Arundel House Hotel faces the river, same sort of decor. but has a bit more going on and just a touch more money. Hotel it's self is a little dated and tied, but in a good location, and free parking and at £65 per room (Agodo) with a full English breakfast, you can't complain! It's a pleasant 10 min walk to town, across Jesus Green, or you can walk along the river in 15 mins. We frequently stay in Cambridge, and have paid more for less in many other hotels in Cambridge, and this is our favorite stay at the moment.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. It is easy to get to and we nabbed one of the few parking spaces immediately - it would be hard to get a local parking spot otherwise . The location is excellent for a visit to almost anywhere in Cambridge. We hired bikes from the cycle shop next door £10 per day after a small degree of haggling. The small niggles are Our room was very small but comfortable. The weather became warm and the absence of airconditioning in the room was potentially an issue. The shower is definitely not a power shower as the water pressure is low on the second floor. Breakfast was good. You should visit the botanical gardens (£5 each unless a student when it is free) and the Fitzwilliam Museum (free) both of which are within 300 metres of the hotel. We did not use the Spa or the small hotel bar. Lots of decent restaurants within half a mile. It is excellent value for a short break. We would use it again

The B&B is very comfortable and rather well-situated although it is a mile from the College I was visiting. Above all, the couple who owns the B&B are extremely nice and helpful. I would return for the comfort of their B&B and especially because they are so kind.

Very welcoming and hospitable family environment. Good location to see Cambridge if you are driving

We have had a fair amount of experience on what to expect from Hotels and I thought the price was quite high for the location when I booked, but then again there really are not that many 4 Star UK hotels that have Gym, Pool & Spas, so as I had settled for Cambridge for this two days of activities, Quy Mill Hotel also had good reviews, so I booked (pay at hotel with Agoda!). Closer examination of the pictures and on arrival, second impressions were (first was great, a long winding private road leading to the Hotel!) oh no, wooden buildings, going to be small and drafty! We parked in a huge FREE landscaped car park (shouldn't they always be free outside the city? you will be amazed at how many put you off with this extra charge!) and took a brief stroll to reception. That was very nice, bright and modern with lots of awards pasted on the walls, immediate attention, warm friendly staff, nice and brief and off we went to the first of the outbuildings with our key and were delighted to find a thick walled, modern, bright warm room. Ensuite was great, TV, Great bed, room small but very cosy. Little touches were what you got for your little extra money. Changed, straight into the next outbuilding 10 steps away, offered clean towels, large changing room and off we went to the upstairs Gym that was surprisingly very large and well equipped. An hour later, another change and greeted by a large, modern, warm and bright swimming pool, Jacuzzi, Steam Room, sun loungers, sun room, shower and Sauna, the facilities were really excellent, clean, first class. After hours of pampering ourselves, out for Dinner and back to the bar for Sky Sports and a cocktail. All the staff were excellent (usually always find one, but honestly, all were great), the breakfast and all food choices you can tell have been given great care, great quality and cooked to perfection, staff are really well trained, and another unusual thing was the trust and personal space you were given, never both

This hotel has a lot of free parking space. Nevertheless, visitors without own transport will find it a bit inconvenience to travel and go out for sightseeing. Breakfast is good but not much choice. I stayed in the smaller hotel in Cambridge town where breakfast is provided with fresh fruits, cakes and etc.

The club downstair was too noisy and it closed around 3 am which I couldn't sleep. But the staff and manager were very kind and helpfull.

Nice little place, I think they only have about 7-8 rooms. Friendly service, especially by your host Vincent. Great a la carte breakfast and just a 20 minutes stroll to the centre of Cambridge. If I have to be in Cambridge again, will book the same Guesthouse.

Quite good. You need to pay extra for hot breakfast. Internet is fast. Room is big and clean. Toilet is good.

We arrived late in Cambridge, and had to checkin with a grumpy female receptionist who seemed to have a problem with me staying in a double room with a child who was clearly under 10 years old. I pointed out to her that when I booked the hotel, Agoda and the actual official website of Royal Cambridge specified that up to one child can be facilitated in each room with a maximum of two adults. After explaining that, another older male staff confirmed this and told the female staff that this was actually allowed - and that if anything else we should be allowed to checkin and sort everything out the next morning. I agreed and proceeded to sign some paperwork. To no avail, having not raised my voice a single time, the female staff suggested that my behavior for booking two rooms for 4 adults with a minor was completely unacceptable, with the intention that made it sound like I was trying to cheat the hotel out of an extra room. She pointed out to me that I was due to be charged for another extra room's fee in the morning in which the conversation ended. The next morning, I explained the situation to another male staff who questioned why I had another extra fee charged to my account, in which he extremely patiently explained that I shouldn't have been charged a fee. He didn't authorize that payment and told me that kids are always welcomed, and wished me a good day. Other than that slight hiccup with the female staff, I was pleased with the hotel as it had an nice taste. Some bits could need a little attention but overall - it is not bad for its price given that it's situated 5 minutes away from city center.

Initially it took a moment to attract some attention but once our reservation had been checked, we registered and went straight to the room. This was in the eves but we'll set up and comfortable. I found the ensuite shower room a little cramped but it did the job. Those that we met were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and the bed was very comfortable. Buffet breakfast options were pretty standard but the service was good, we didn't try the restaurant at other times as we walked into Cambridge (only 30 minutes). Good decor, pretty garden. Loved having a separate bath and shower, White Company toiletries and robes were a nice touch too. Would certainly recommend Hotel Felix to others looking for a base to visit Cambridge.

We really enjoyed our stay at Worth House and a lot of it was due to our exceptionally friendly hosts, Maria and Guido. This is a very small intimate B&B, which is well situated for visiting downtown Cambridge. We walked to/from all our sites, but buses and taxis were available close by. A few restaurants were a 5 minute walk away, as well. The beds/pillows were the most comfortable of the entire trip. Rooms were well furnished, clean and maintain. Breakfast and chit chatting with Guido was a lot of fun, and they made our food to order. Definitely one of our most favorite B&Bs of the entire vacation.

1st time to UK from California so I consider this one ok compare the hotel price around this area. The home has everything if you want to do your own cooking

I loved the whole stay. I had a marvelous superior room with a rain shower and a Victorian bath in the bedroom with lovely products supplied. The library room is decorated and themed so well providing an academic atmosphere so suited to the proximity of the Cambridge colleges. Stayed for New Year's Eve together with a friend and the food was superb. Had tender Venison with a lovely sauce and ordered the good very dry house champagne to toast in the New Year. A definite place to stay at least once
