A real nice place to end our holiday. it's very clean and the staff are great. prices is average for the area but I feel in dar es salaam you have to give out a bit more money if you want quality. This hotel is just that, quality. food is really good too.

I appreciated the fully equipped kitchen, which allowed me to keep juice cold in refrigerator and cook hot soup for supper. When the stove top did not function correctly initially, the maintenance staff promptly replaced the malfunctioning item. The room was very spacious. The large work area made it easy to confer with a work colleague. Just a block from the Morogoro Road and the City Hall, the hotel was in the center of the business area of Dar es Salaam. The swimming pool was a welcome addition in downtown location.

The hotel it’s self it’s beautiful,the food is delicious cleanliness need to improve, and hotel needs to add few staff like more coffe,milk, teas option in the room ,cleaness need to be improved and air freshener, fridge smells so bad we couldn’t used it , Also the pillows were so stiff no mattress protector or pillow protector it was hard for me to sleep until I used one of my dress under .I will come back if fix all these small problems. Water park its very old need to be repaired, it’s dAngerous for kids theirs no health and safety at all , swimming pools all are green and full of dirt , swimming tubes are shaking (I went to speak with a big guy called him self a supervisor in the water park ,said everything it’s fine and undercontrolled well he is lying) kids are full of adults my , fun zone and baby area need be to closed down seriously I have took some pictures so I can post online other parents to see .i don’t recommend anyone to go to the water park .

Great stay, great hotel, great staff! Rooms are generous, some with direct sea view. Great garden bar and restaurant to wind down after a day of work in the bustling city of Dar es Salaam. Close to both the Slipway and the Sea Cliff shopping centre. Will definitely come again.

not very good. location is center but in a very poor neighborhood. I guess all Dar Es Salaam hotel are like this but if its a good hotel you will spend time in hotel without going out. food is very poor and room condition is very basic.

The DoubleTree was not on my radar for my initial time in Dar Es Salaam, but a great rate from Agoda prompted me to try it. To my pleasant surprise, the staff was wonderful and the hotel well managed and beautifully appointed. I spent several hours each day working by the pool that overlooks the bay, and sits on the land end of an amazing pier well positioned to watch the sunset. For couples enjoying Dar, this is a great spot. There are several great restaurants in the area ranging from Japanese to Korean to Tanzanian. The staff continually surprised me, with incredible courtesy while going to the n'th degree to make my 5 day stay comfortable. Highly recommend this as a destination while in Dar Es Salaam.

Overall very good hotel with good value. Friendly and effecient front desk; house keeper very polite; breakfast included in the room rate not bad. Will definitely recommend it.

I live in South East Asia, so paying so much for a '4 star' hotel was a bit hard. But as I learned things are different in Africa especially with everyday costs. The property is a bit run down but all still functioning and it is beautiful when the tide is high on the beach. It is a good escape from Dar and lots of locals come to the pool and beach to relax on the weekend.

In general, location is not bad, room is big. But other than this, if a guest is expecting friendliness and sincere helpfulness, he will definitely be disappointed. I was firstly given a room across from another room being furnished and the smell was terrible. When I requested a room change, the front desk said she wasn't aware of the furnishing situation. As I have experienced, front desk has terrible attitude problems, they withheld information until being asked and confronted ; house keeper rolled eyes when a guest has no laundery for them to do... So I decided to move to the neighbourhood hotel and had a much better time in Dar es Salaam. The Best Western hotel is absolutely a disappointment and will not come back or recommend it at all.

You won't regret to choose this hotel. Only 9 km distance from the airport, and located at the city center, and walking distance to the nice shopping center City Mall. For the business trip, quite recommendable hotel.

I was looking from internet a hotel in Dar with sauna and gym. This hotel had both BUT I don't know when the gym was last used. At least treadmills were not working. But I was really disappointed with the sauna. Well actually I did not go there. 40 USD for half an hour. Usually sauna is free for hotel guest. I was prepared to pay 10 usd. But 40 dollars! Come on. Please, take this out from the hotel presentation. But on the other hand the restaurant was superb. Really worth trying.

I only stayed here one night in order to catch a very early morning flight out of Dar es Salaam. The hotel is a 10 min drive to the airport ( with no traffic) and there is airport shuttle service. The room was large and comfortable with all the amenities you would expect. there is a coffee shop in the lobby and an attractive rooftop restaurant and bar, open late night. There's a pool too but I didn't see it. I had a wake up call at 0330, and my check out at 0400 was smooth and professional. the Holiday Inn is a reliable brand, and this one didn't disappoint. the downtown location is convenient for any business traveler looking for good value and comfort. I saved about USD.35 off the rack rate by booking online via agoda.

The facility seems new and clean, but plumbing is an issue and water heating system in the bathroom was dysfunctional. They also had an issue with Agoda's system because the hotel manager insisted that I booked the room with the street view and not the sea view even though I showed my booking confirmation clearly stating that the room I booked was with sea view. The good thing was that, in the end, the manager gave me the room with sea view at the price I booked with.

I had to stay in Dar for 11 nights, so it would have been way too expensive elsewhere. Good points were the staff, the wifi, the location, the cleanliness, the fabulous aircon and the great cappuccinos! Bad points were the food (can't speak for meat eaters but veggie options for dinner were limited) and occasional noisy party or wedding.

We have stayed here twice with our two young children, and always enjoy our stay. The rooms are big, clean, and comfortable, the staff are very friendly, and children are very welcomed. We will be back next time we travel through Dar.

Short distance from the airport, which makes this hotel an excellent choice if you are fkying out of Dar the next day.

Hotel location is wonderful it's attached with Mayfair Plaza and has very good GYM, also 500 meters only from Shoppers Plaza.

The place you see on the photo is not the same place i do have pictures but cant get then on here.the bed were awful dirty wooden boxes holding the botton of the bed up No shower but the was a bucket we had to ask for water to beput in it so we could wash the dirt off us from been in the rooms no handle on the inside of room was looked in in till morning got bit to death and it rained!! there was a bit of a straw roof but leeked in on make shift bed and on us also most of our clothes soaked were ment to stay a few nights managed a few hours hell on earth dont let it put you of Africa we did find somebeauitful hotels stay away even if you have had your injections

The hotel is located in a convenient location for one who would like to access the city, a bit far from the beach area though. The staff was very courteous an and helpful and the place was generally clean, especially considering there was ongoing construction at the entrance.

I stopped over in Dar Es Salaam for 2 nights on my way to Moshi. Q-Bar is quite a distance from the airport but it is in a nice area of Dar, where all of the embassies are located. The staff was really helpful on where things in the city were and cheap modes of transportation. The rooms were air conditioned and the guesthouse was located near cheap local restaurants for those who don't want to eat in house.

THe hotel was good and clean with friendly helpful staff. But it is very much a large resort type of place that plays loud music through the evening and does not have much atmosphere. It would be good if you were with a big group of people and had booked out several room and just wanted a party, but as a solo traveller there are better places further up the beach.

Great atmosphere with quant beach huts. Excellent bar and dining area. Toilet / shower facilities are very basic.

thought this was very first time visit to this hotel, i felt this hotel a very good one, and the staff was also too co operative. if anybody will ask me for hotel in dar es salaam, ill advice for the same for sure.

Stayed here for just one night after traveling on a bus for 11 hours from Moshi. We were heading to Zanzibar the next day, and just needed a place to crash for the evening. It offered a great location at a decent price. Free fast wifi, cold A/C, hot shower, free breakfast, and a friendly staff (that helped organize our transfer to the ferry terminal - which is about 10 minutes away by taxi). The hotels in Dar tend to be a bit on the pricey side, so I when I saw Livingstone's price I wasn't expecting much and ended up being pleasantly surprised.

We arrived at dar airport and already had someone waiting for us (included) The room was nothing fancy but was what we expected. Good for shower and resting when in transit in dar es salaam airport. To imporve i would suggest to explain better how to turn on hot water

We arrived on Saturday afternoon after two days of work in Dar es Salaam. The only reason for us to choose Beachcomber was that we were in need of one day complete rest. We expected to have that day on Sunday, just relaxing around the pool. The welcome was great, very friendly and efficient. The room was nice even though we don’t think it was a de luxe room, but that doesn’t matter. Food was good. On Sunday we get up early and went to the pool to relax. At 11am the torture started. Extremely loud “music” destroyed the peacefulness and we asked one of the staff what’s going on. She told us that this was a normal “Sunday Beach Party” and if we don’t like we have to move. OK, we went for a walk to another hotel but it was the same there – a “party”. Back to Beachcomber we went to our room but the “music” was so loud so we coludn.t hear each other. The mirror in the bathroom where shaking. This terror continued for 8 hours!!!. When complaining to the manager he answered that there’s always a “party” every Sunday. We asked him why they didn’t inform about this on their web for example so that people can find other accommodation. He answered that “everybody” knows about this and as we have booked with agoda we couldn’t expect everything to be perfect. He told us that the hotel don’t receive so much from agoda so he couldn’t afford to give us any compensation. In the end he offered us a free dinner but as we were really tired we had just something cheap. If you are looking for a relaxing off day at Beachcomber, please go somewhere else. This “beach party” destroyed our weekend completely. And, don’t expect a beach were you can swim. There are a wall of stones to protect the area from high waves and the wall is covered with different kinds of rubbish.
